The Art is Powerful Medicine Coloring Book combines Visualization and Rhythmic Drawing to achieve the meditative benefits, but it also teaches techniques and formal elements of art and art history. I believe that the scores of people who have embraced coloring may be ready to take their experiences to the next level so I have exemplars and tutorials to guide them. I believe that the scores of people who have embraced coloring may be ready to take their experiences to the next level so I have exemplars and tutorials to guide them. I am already using my pages in my clinical and educational work and find that they provide an extremely accessible, layered experience. Beyond the tutorials, there is an Art Therapy section called Directives, and a Metaphysical section called 'Mind Over Matter'. Create, Heal, and Manifest through Art and Coloring.

I won this here on Goodreads. I thought it was a cute little meditative coloring book, with the added bonus of explaining why coloring and doodling, especially with repetitive patterns is calming. It is properly bound, but it does have a handmade quality to it. For example, most of the pages are greyed a little and the text a little fuzzy, like something that has been Xeroxed too many times. (You can see that on the cover, even.) This may be purposeful though. For someone who wants an adult or m I won this here on Goodreads. For someone who wants an adult or meditative coloring book but is intimidated by some of the sharp, overly-polished ones coming out these days, this is probably a good match. It also allows for a lot more free-form art, giving you open space to create your own 'zendoodles.' (Apparently that name has been trademarked, so the author can't actually call them that.)

More than an art coloring book, it has the extra benefit of guidance for teachers, therapists, or individuals interested in the creative process. Received from a Goodreads giveaway, it was enlightning.

This is my first coloring book. I received this in a free giveaway at Goodreads. This book begins by stating that shape, space, color, emphasis, value, and gradation will be explored. The focus on 'space'- both positive and negative and using color in these spaces to create effects is informative. Information regarding color and its use is explored in beginning activities. The author, Michelle G. Murelli, includes positive affirmations and prompts that encourage personal development on many of the pages designed for coloring. If allowed, I would have rated this 3.5, as the coloring pages are sometimes too similar. Remember, this is my first adult coloring book and this may be a characteristic of the genre.
