I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book from Richard Branson. This is a good inspirational and motivating book that is very easy to read. I knew that there were a number of Virgin companies prior to reading this book, however I was not aware of how many different industries Virgin is involved with (music, mobile, space travel, planes, trains, finance, health clubs, ...). The culture of Virgin is a key component of the why the Virgin companies have been successful. Whilst there is not a step by step guide for how to build a successful company, there are many useful insights and lessons learnt. Caring and Encouraging your people, Customer-focus, Innovation, Embracing leadership, Fun, Learning from mistakes and Social Responsibility are key attributes I now associate with the Virgin brand.

Haven't read any other Branson titles, but this one was a lot of fun. Branson took me on an amazing roller coaster through the ups & downs & lessons learnt of several business choices. The examples he's chosen have opened my eyes to areas I have yet to learn about as well as provided a new perspectives on aspects of business I've only had basic initiation into. I want to be *this* engaged & excited by the endeavours I undertake. Like a pleasant and yet educational fireside chat with Sir Richard. Gives some nice insights into key events in Virgin's history, the man's modus operandi and - as an extension of that - the culture that he has built at Virgin. There are no real revelations and no particularly in-depth insights but, as a quick and easy 'business stories'-type read, it's good. Though the book is not very smooth and easy-to-read (sometime Branson throws in too many barely valuable facts or names), many pieces are indeed interesting and worth thinking about. Pretty much impressed by Branson's determination to solve global social, health and environmental problems the world is facing. Respect.
