The book I read is Kidnapped and the first book in the Italy Intrigue series by Stacey Joy Netzel. But I would probably read more by the author eventually.

His desire to protect the Plain Jane Halli and his drive to get to the bottom of his brother's murder. Trent's hot stuff, is what I'm saying here. Yes, Trent, I would like to win a date with you and later have your babies. We don't even have to wait til later. I'll get down on the first date. Or in the middle of a high speed chase. Whatever. We've seen Halli's type before, in other romance novels, but she works so well here. The control freak who is thrust into an impossible situation and somehow blossoms and ensnares the hearththrob's heart. I loved that she refused to swoon in the beginning. She did not go all simpering fangirl on our silver screened fox. Not Halli. Hell no. "Haven't seen even one of your movies. Sorry." Hell yes, girlfriend! Never swoon. (leave that up to me, kay? Kay.) The whole package, the love story, the mystery, all of it, was top notch. There was car chases and shoot outs and boats getting blown to bits and general chaos with just enough steaminess thrown in to make me want to take the whole thing to bed and cuddle it all night.

The author, Stacey Joy Netzel, does a good job of putting the reader in Italy and uses the setting to nice effect. Halli and Trent both have interesting backstories that affect how they relate to each other and seed their initial less-than-trusting reactions when first thrust together. The sexual tension is also well done, and the character's reactions to each other are surprising enough to keep the story interesting. The action scenes are punchy, tense, and drive the story forward. Netzel weaves some good twists and turns into the plot (particularly among the thugs), and a subplot involving Halli's kidnapped brother and sister is also well done. I plan to read more by this author.

I wasn’t really sure what to expect, and I picked a book that I thought would be relatively safe for me to start down this new avenue of networking not only for the author, but for myself as a new book review blogger. I mean, who wants to start something like this with a whopper of a bad book? I’m really happy with my choice this month, and am already looking forward to picking something again!! I really wished that I had read Lost in Italy while hanging out on a beach somewhere, because this is the perfect beach read! I would have say that this book could be classified as a romantic thriller, because there was a lot of romance and a thrill in every chapter. There were a lot of bullets, close calls, and some steamy moments. Netzel did not waste any time getting right into the action, and setting the stage telling the reader about Halli Sanders and Trent Tomlin. The character development didn’t drag on like many books, but there was once in the beginning that I did go back a chapter to make sure I had all my bad guys straight. I loved how the majority of the book spanned only a few days, therefore allowing the story to be jam packed with those little details that sometimes get lost in books that cover a longer periods of time. Netzel did a great job of keeping me interested and wanting to get to the next chapter and the next and the next, while adding a small amount doubt from time to time, making me wonder if the plot would go another way - because it really could have taken off in an entirely different direction...who knows? If I could give one criticism about Lost in Italy, it would have to be the overuse of one particular word and all forms of it - growl, and there were no animals in the book! I checked with Vinnie, the Kindle and he told me that it was used 27 times. While not overly distracting, it did catch my eye a few times without taking anything away from the great plot of the book. If you are heading out to the beach or the lake this summer and want a fun little read, definitely pack your beach bag with Lost in Italy.

Italian Dream Vacation If you've ever been in a foreign country and had the slightest moment of unease about your location or an awareness of a stranger who makes you uneasy, you'll understand the premise of this book. If you have an imagination, you'll understand that kind of "OMG moment" even if you've never found yourself alone on a side street in Firenze, followed by a couple of men who look like what the locals call gypsies. Makes me shudder just remembering that little incident. Makes me shudder just remembering that little incident. Blurbing The Book Control freak doesn't begin to describe Halli Sanders, a young woman with deep-seated trust issues. She and her brother Ben and her sister Rachel are in Italy intent on having a vacation of a lifetime. When Halli gets stranded and unwittingly films a crime, she finds herself rescued by American action film star Trent Tomlin who is out to prove that his brother's death was a murder, not a suicide. Halli's carefully planned itinerary hadn't included car chases, abductions, unending danger, and falling in love, but nothing seems to work out as she'd planned. What's more, she has no control over the unfolding events, and neither does Trent who probably wishes some director would yell, "Cut." My 2 Cents Engaging characters, a wildly implausible plot that the author skillfully makes the reader believe is plausible, and tension that ratchets up with every chapter, Lost In Italy is a compelling read that makes you root for Halli and Trent. Sometimes, you'd like to slap Halli and tell her to stow the emotional baggage and have a modicum of trust, but that just means that the author did a good job in showing her with all of her conflicting emotions. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and found myself grinning at the ending and thinking that these two people had a shot at "happily ever after."

With likeable, believable characters who find themselves in extremely extraordinary circumstances, this is my favorite Stacey Joy Netzel book to date. The suspense is riveting, but the characters make this book. I particularly enjoyed the motivation and thoughts underlying Trent’s apparent superficiality. It made him come alive and took him from the “man on the big screen” to a man you’d want in your life. I’ve never been attracted to a movie star before. The depth of his character made me want a happily-ever-after between him and Halli. I loved how Halli develops throughout this book, going from an uptight control freak to a normal person willing to take acceptable risks. Ms. Netzel does a great job painting a picture of two realistically flawed people and how they used their ingrained (and necessary) coping mechanisms to not only survive, but to thrive and move beyond their flaws. Changing flaws into assets is very appealing. Oh…and the romance was so good, too. I’m looking forward to her next Italy suspense. Lost in Italy—buy it, you’ll like it.

LOST IN ITALY is a fast-paced romantic suspense in the tradition of Mary Stewart, only updated. Hallie, left behind by her siblings on their first stop in a tour of Italy, is "abducted" by a handsome stranger who just happens to be one of her favorite actors--and shot at! The romance and the mystery unfold at a good pace in this plot full of deceptions, lies, and revelations. The mystery holds the reader's interest with surprising twists, and the characters transcend stereotypes, even the villains. My only bone to pick, if I could call it that, is the somewhat unresolved secondary relationship. But I suppose the author is saving that for a sequel--I hope.

I really loved this book! Lots of action, suspense and romance. Great combination! Definitely made me want to go to Italy and find my own adventure -- of course without all the shooting. :-) The characters were very well developed. The chemistry between Trent and Hallie was hot. Loved the secondary characters as well, especially Hallie's brother and Eva. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romantic suspense. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Great romance, great mystery. I tend to shy away from true romantic suspense because I lean much more toward suspense, but Stacey has a talent for blending the two together without going over the top. Loved the main characters and love the back and forth between them. Definitely recommend to all lovers of suspense, mystery, or romance:)

He tries to convince her to come with him without taking time to explain why. When she refuses, he tosses her in the car and drives away. When her brother and sister realize she's been left behind, they return and are picked up by the police who, of course, are on the payroll of the bad guy. Now the baddie knows who has the incriminating video, the hunt is on. I realize this is a romance novel and therefore romance must happen. However, this setup strains my suspension of disbelief. Not the being left behind (that actually happened to the author) or the videoing of a crime (hello, social media) or even that a movie star with the motivation described in the book might snatch a complete stranger off the street to save her life. But they are running for their lives. Shot, beaten, terrified. Halli is separated from her siblings who don't answer their phones. The brother and sister are held hostage by vicious criminals who beat the brother more than once. And yet all these people can think about is sex? I could understand turning to someone for comfort at a time of great stress and pain, of reacting without thinking. But the constant awareness of the hotness of the body of the other (given in excruciating detail at every opportunity) regardless of circumstance continually pulled me away from the story. The story did have many nice elements - the setting in Lake Como, Trent being recognized by a fan at a very inopportune moment, Halli refusing to fall for his charm because their lives were so different, the relationships between the siblings, Trent's grief over the death of his brother, the backstory of Halli's parents being con artists shaping who she is and her level of distrust. There was a lot of potential here, and lovers of romantic suspense would probably enjoy this. However, it just didn't work for me.

The three kids have grown up and made better of themselves and are moving on with their lives. They plan the trip of a life time; they’re going to beautiful romantic Italy. Even though Halli likes a structured planned out life they embark on the adventure of a lifetime contrary to her well planned out itinerary. The promise of a trip to remember for years to come. But what fate has in store for these three will change their lives forever. On their way to the hotel from the airport they stop at Lake Como to take in the beautiful site of this gorgeous lake and Halli starts videoing some swans swimming peacefully in the calm water. Innocent film right. WRONG, what she actually gets on film is a murder in a villa across the lake and she is discovered filming by the murderer himself. This innocent film throws Halli and her siblings into the run of their life. After Halli is accidently left behind by the lake, her siblings thinking she is in the rental car, they leave her to her own devices and don’t discover she is not actually in the car till their well on their way to the hotel. While waiting for her siblings to return for her, who she is sure they will, she encounters a stranger. He appears out of nowhere and offers her a ride. The sensible gal that she is refuses his assistance and finds herself kidnapped by this sexy, gorgeous hunk of a man. She’s scared to death, unsure of what is happening. She thinks that her brother and sister have set this little scenario up to scare her into forgetting her well planned itinerary and live a little. You know, cut loose. But, she recognizes this hunk as the International movie star Trent Tomlin. Oh my God, what is he doing in Italy and why has he kidnapped her? What does fate have in store for her? Trent Tomlin, international movie star, known across the globe as Shain West in his movies and as he puts it, “Only in the movies”, has his own agenda and little does Halli know, he just saved her life. They are immediately thrown into a chase with black cars and bad guys with guns. They race through the streets of this small town trying to escape with their lives while she’s still reeling from the fact that she is actually in a car with the handsome to die for Trent Tomlin. Trent though has his own problems; you see his brother a photo journalist, was murdered and played off to be a suicide by the media and local police. But Trent knows the truth; his brother would never have committed suicide even though he did have depression issues. He is bound and determined to bring his brothers’ murderers to justice, he just needs the proof and he wants to see what this woman has on her video camera. Did she mistakenly see something she didn’t realize she videoed? If she did, she may have the proof that he needs. The big problem is, he has to be careful who he trusts? Is she part of the plot? He knows that the murderers are operating an illegal exotic animal trade running the animals through Italy and then selling them off to the highest bidders. But where does this little gal fit in? Or is she just an innocent that has been caught up in this whole mess. Trent will find out. He knows the cops and other government officials are in the murderers back pocket. He can’t trust anyone. As fate has it, Halli and Trent are thrust into staying under the radar and keeping themselves alive while desperately trying to solve his brother’s murder. But these bad guys are ruthless and dangerous to anyone who gets in their way. They have no qualms about killing. This book has it all; and a full version not a shortie. I didn’t want to put it down. The author introduces you to the characters and you will instantly connect. She takes you right into the action and the book just keeps on getting on. And when the real action starts, wow, does this author take off and run with it. Exciting to say the least. The book doesn’t drag and will definitely not bore you to death. The characters have a lot to tell about their lives and the author has portrayed and told their story to the fullest extent. I can only image the author trying to keep up while they unfold their lives to her. But her style of writing to me is superb. Halli and Trent’s characters are not trusting at all which is understandable given the situation fate has put them in. The love scenes are very well written, no raunchy sex just good solid to build on sex that of course leads into a budding romance. Fate does has a way of sometimes taking over our lives and leading us in directions that we thought we didn’t want to go until the right person is put in our path. The editing was good in this book, no grammar boo boos and the spelling was all in line as it should be. I can’t stress enough how important this is to me when I’m reading. I don’t like the distraction of getting off track in the story to figure out what the author is trying to say. I really enjoyed this author and her style of writing though. The book leaves open other possibilities between characters and actually starts giving you the footwork for the next book in the series. I can hardly wait to read the next issue that’s the story of Ben and Eva, Eva being one of the bad guys. Ahhh, but is everyone who they proclaim to be? I would highly recommend this book to romance readers. I enjoyed it so much I give this book an RT rating of five glorious red hearts. Now the cover is a different story. I liked the subject matter on the cover as it fit well with the contents of the story, but the couple on the cover does not look like real people. They look avatar to me and I don’t like that. Of course the publishers are going to a lot of this anymore; they don’t want to use real models sometimes to cut production costs even though this is an eBook. So with that I only give the cover an RT rating of two diamonds. Give us real models; it makes the book more appealing. But my hat is off to this author, she has done a great job telling Halli and Trent’s story. She has style, humor and good imagination with a fantastic ear to listen to her characters.

Highly recommended. Kidnapped by Stacey Joy Netzel. Small town television producer Halli Sanders planned the trip of a lifetime to Italy. Not on her itinerary? The disappearance of her siblings, dodging bullets during a high speed car chase, and being kidnapped by a sexy movie star. And that’s just in the first three hours. A fantastic read with some great characters. Lots of action from start to finish. Loved Halli and Trent. Do hope there is more to come. 5*.

I enjoyed the love-hate relationship. It's been a while since I've read a book with a "movie star falls for the ordinary girl" theme, and this is just what I wanted. Okay, so it really just takes 3-4 days (I think) for them to fall in love but I don't even care. It was fast paced and totally had a rom-com action movie vibe to it. Was a fun story line and an interesting read... but wow, the female lead (Halli) was annoying throughout the book. Sometimes while reading, I was wondering whether she was an annoying teenager. She definitely do the book justice and has led me to my rating.

I really enjoyed this book. Not sure why the rating is not higher. I thought it was a pleasant read and I liked the love story. I couldn't wait for them to admit they loved each other. Literary-wise, I wouldn't say this is necessarily a five star book. But I love it. Any book that I can read over and over again and never get bored earns five stars from me. Lost in Italy This was a decent book about a lost traveler and a movie star who is actually an undercover spy/cop. I look forward to reading more from this author.
