I've read and enjoyed many books from this series, but this title lacked the momentum and intrigue I found in the other titles. My guess is that there was little information about Mildred Cable's personal life or details about her work in China so the story had to focus on tracking her missionary's travels and various furloughs back home in England. Still, it was interesting to learn how this woman came to go to a foreign country, along with two other females missionaries who joined her, and gai I've read and enjoyed many books from this series, but this title lacked the momentum and intrigue I found in the other titles. This story is really about 3 women: Mildren Cable and Eva and Franchesca French. From what I gleaned from the book, they were extraordinary women that were missionaries to China. However, this book read like a boring history book. It lacked human side, the emotion, and the faith. I'm interested in reading more about these women in other books.

This story of a life spent living for God despite hardships was inspirational. Seeing how God took her and formed the desire for missions was fascinating. The faithfulness of God to provide fellow workers that became lifelong friends and companions for this single woman is inspiring, as there are mixed reactions to the idea of single women in ministry positions.

This is the third book I've read in the series and, like someone else said, it was not as compelling as some of the others (Gladys Aylward and George Muller). I listened to the audiobook while working in my yard. I'm inspired by her life and what she went through for the cause of Christ.
