I really liked the other two books in the series. This one just struck a wrong note with me. The author does such a fantastic job getting you to hate the hero that by the time (last 5%) he realizes he's been a total a-hole, it's kind of too late. He does NOWHERE CLOSE to enough groveling. Glad it was Kindle Unlimited. I will still check out more from this author. Hoping this was just a one-off. So....f this book. Not recommended. I really liked the other two books in the series. After reading the first two books in the Women of Dor Nye series I raced to get my hands on the third. I had a brand new weird and wonderful alien hero and a brand new heroine to fall in love with. Sadly, I didn't fall in love and I couldn't understand why the heroine thought she was in love either. In the first two books the relationship between the heroine and the hero(es) was really strong, full of mutual respect and love. In this book that was not the case. The hero was a twat. He treated the heroine poorly and with little respect and only seemed to realise that he should probably love her for her strengths when this was pointed out to him by some one else in the 10% of the book. When, from almost the very beginning of the book you are silently urging the heroine to leave the hero and never look back, you know that things have gone horribly wrong. However, I loved the first two books of this series so much that I will be giving it a second chance and reading the next in the series.

I loved the first two Women of Dor Nye books, but if you're thinking the heroine in this book is anything like Lucia from the previous books, or that the hero is like Soren or his brothers, you are sadly mistaken......as I was. (I guess the hero is similiar to Soren's brothers in that they didn't like humans and thought they were weak, although they did have a few redeeming qualities.) I was pretty disappointed with this book. She's kidnapped by him, he's disgusted to have a "weak human" and all I loved the first two Women of Dor Nye books, but if you're thinking the heroine in this book is anything like Lucia from the previous books, or that the hero is like Soren or his brothers, you are sadly mistaken......as I was. She's kidnapped by him, he's disgusted to have a "weak human" and all through the book he's either angry, disgusted or aroused by her and she is angry, frightened or aroused by him. I just can't truly get into a book where the two main characters are so unhappy with each other, yet they want to have sex. I also hate it when the woman tries to tell herself "this is her kidnapper, she shouldn't be aroused/turned on/want to f***".... etc. etc. etc. Also, a HUGE no for me is when he (who has sharp teeth) will snap at her trying to scare her or when he grabbed her chin and it was hurting her so she tried to pull away and told him to stop and he squeezed tighter to get her to do what he wanted. Too close to being abusive in my mind.

3rd in series. Women of Dor Nye I looked at too many reviews for this book and ALMOST let them sway me into not reading it. Arrgh - I really wish I was able to enjoy this book, but it was really not fun. When the H and h are thrown together, they make little effort to get along. The H is really bad. I don't buy the reasoning that he was abused for the past 5 years, he still interacted with others and then returned to his home world where he is respected. Usually this trope is driven by lust overcoming reluctance - but not here. They didn't grow together, they grew apart, sometimes vehemently. No! No! No!!! Ok.maybe I should have listened to the negative reviews and skipped this BS Train wreck, but Oooooo were they soo very very RIGHT!!! How anyone looking likes this is Sooo very very beyond me... Only good thing I can report is a) my curiosity is now well and truly sated and b) thankfully this was KU soo no money was wasted only my non-refundable time.... Dear Lord in heaven this book has the odious title of being on a list for me of MC's I'd happily have LOVED to BOTH be killed off... No! No! No!!! Dear Lord in heaven this book has the odious title of being on a list for me of MC's I'd happily have LOVED to BOTH be killed off... Damn, just Damn... As soo many, many others I was reading this because of my love for the awesomely wonderful 1st two books in this series but this, this was complete and utter drek...ugh!! The h "Finley" for me is best described as a TSTL (TOO STUPID TO LIVE) passive aggressive doormat , who shouldn't have been let out her parents home w/out a minder, dear lord is she stupid.... Angrily cluelessly shooting off her mouth one second, acting like a lame submissive the next,I soo wanna say I hate her and I kinda do but at the same time, she's honestly NOT Worth The effort! I knew I want going to like her when the story starts w/her in an illegal sex slave place ( brothel while not a nice word, sounds way to classy for this place) ( males caged like the animals their treated like, w/"customers" going into the cage to copulate w/only a thin curtain to hide them during) while Finley's two "friends" are their because they want to be, Fin is there because she's too much of a doormat to say No.... Knew I'd never respect from that moment on and I wasn't happy to be right... She acts like she's barely able to find her rear w/both hands and doesn't seem to have the sense God gave a goose, and Hunter ? Damn I soo tried with him.. Like him ? No,but I did try to cut him some slack, between being held captive as a sex slave for 5 years, and Ms.TSTL triggering his mating heat, differing backgrounds etc. I really, really tried to give him the benefit but honestly ? He truly was the huge jerk everyone called him.... Now while I wouldn't call when he mated her "rape" per say, lost mating lust that seemed at least temporally transferred to Fin, I was just more disturbed w/his constant HOT/COLD attitude... Now sure he feels deeply betrayed and hurt that his body took his choice away from him and seemed to choose Fin to mate against his will and after 5 years of having everything just about done against his will, well his resentment makes sense.. Up until a point that is,he treats her like crap never truly caring about her feelings and then resenting himself ( soo much resentment going on) if he does.. But what really pissed me off was the while MINE!! Mine! Mine attitude, and yet treating her badly and proud at times to Not give a damn about her feelings etc. happily lying, cheating and stealing her off to his own planet, keeping her stasis for 6wks. after drugging her... Her life, family, friends, her wants, needs etc. mean absolutely NOTHING to him and yet she's HIS and he will not let her go... Not that dark haired brainless Barbie here really tried that hard out side of her whining and complaining ,btw I finally, gave up when he'd dragged her all the way back to his village to perform the mating ceremony and she never once tried to escape it or fight it even though she still called and thought of him as only her captor at 40% of the book.... Stockholm syndrome says be a meek lil mate and don't fight the mating I guess ... Hell if I know,I've read soo much PNR w/"fated mates" and alien kidnap stories but this one too the cake, both seemed to be as resigned to this mess as I was for a while,he didn't want her and thought she was weak and inferior because they did seem to have the strengths he was used to from a primitive hunter/gather society but was determined to keep her coz basically better than nothing and Fin ? Hell I guess the weak minded moron honestly was starting to give into true Stockholm syndrome, who knows... She honestly shouldn't have been allowed out w/out a minder, and I'm not saying this to be mean just honest... Our last h in this series was tough, smart, strong and resourceful and a joy to read ,who while had a rocky road to love it was respectful and fun to read and a joy to watch, this ? This?!?? This was pathetic Al and Peg Bundy on "Married with Children" we're more fun to watch and better together on a bad day ( every day) and had a 100% more chemistry than these two... Will I ever read more from this writer/series ? At this moment, only if the next one is KU and the reviews imply it's not the total waste of time this really was... I don't wanna sound mean buuut how after the 1st two wonderful books could the writers look at these totally worthless awful characters and think "Hey,this is good." ? On one hand as an Artist is get going where my pen, colored pencil or photos take me and following the creative process where it leads, but these two Ms.seriously TSTL and Mr. Treat her like crap but gonna keep her,how how ?

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. Hunter was an asshole throughout the whole book. He was mean to Finley and treated her like shit. He always thought the worst of her. Thought she was and an "inferior human". Hated her species. She was a strong woman and he never saw it due to the prejudices he had against her species. He never grovels properly. He barely apologizes. If he treated me like he treated Fin I would not of taken him back without the proper amount of groveling. Well this was something different... I enjoyed The Melier very much, but this book was nothing like it. Way off the trail of the first two. Not bad at all, but not as great as the others. And I don't agree with some of the bashing reviews either. Finley is a gal who let herself be dragged by her friends to a very shady part of town. She has a bucket list apparently... The group of friends venture into a brothel full of exotic alien men. The Carnal Bazaar... "A spectrum of colors, a myriad of fleshly talents…” . Each of them select an exotic alien guy and Finley ends up inside a cage with an alien who's a little too wild for her taste. He looks menacing and a little out of control. He has fangs, he has yellow and green reptile skin. Black hair and a great body. Clearly someone she can't handle and she's right to be scared. Hunter... He's been captured and forced into being a prostitute in the Bazaar. He's been caged and trained to please his clients. He's even been hurt by one. And in comes Fin, with no clue to what she got herself into. And of course the caged warrior is supposed to seduce her and please her like any client would demand. But apparently miss Fin is appauled by his indiscretions and forwardness! OH COME ON! REALLY??? Of course, there is a twist in this story... Hunter is attracted to Fin. And when he's about to seduce her, the space cops, or whatever you call them, crash the party. So everybody is in deep sticky shit... In the midst of the arrests and madness, Hunter decides to make a run for it and out of compassion, takes Fin with him to a friends house. His only ally in the planet, who happened to work as a nurse in the Bazaar... From that moment on, its a show of hysterics... Hunter can't control himself around her, but he's trying his best to leave the forsaken planet with or without her. Unfortunately plans of escape don't work to help Fin leave, cops are on to them and she's guilty for hiring sexual services. At least by the looks of it, on that planet it's illegal. And because the cops are also kind of dirty, Hunter might end up back at the bazaar or enslaved, so he has no choice but to flee and take Fin with him. Although her tiny weeny brain doesn't understand. YOUR BOTH FUGITIVES! YOU DID SOMETHING ILLEGAL FINLEY! DUH! On to the review then! a)I don't agree that this is exactly an alien abduction. b) The story wasn't that great, but it hooked me enough to finish it. I like how Poppy writes. Its fast paced, but coherent. Her style is still there. c) Apparently nobody thinks hero's a victim... Sure he's not the most cheery person. He's kind of a jerk. But let me remind you again cause I'm not sure we've read the same book. -He is captured first! -He is forced to be a prostitute in a brothel. Trained and hurt by some clients. -He's been caged for who knows how long... -He happens to be attracted to a woman who he was supposed to serve sexually as a client against his will like all the others. Would you be nice? Would you be a happy person in this case? At least he didn't let her get arrested. He gave her shelter. He tried to help her get back home... I read it! -Also he is angry at himself for feeling the way he does. It must hurt his pride. He's a psychological mess! Why wouldn't want to do to her what was done to him? d) I hated Finley! Worst heroine ever! Or at least one of the worst... She's so stupid! Of course she should feel guilty. Also she should stop being shocked of everything. She went to a place to have sex with an alien... What did she expect? Teddy bear hugs? She infuriates me, the way she constantly victimizes herself and doesn't stand her ground. Or do anything to gain my respect. Making the hero look like the evil guy. They are both messed up, but she's worse because she's a hypocrite. If the tables were turned and she took him to her planet would she be a jerk? By the way she is the victim of hanging out with stupid people who convince her to get into to trouble. She follows the lead and goes to a place that is clearly shady. Sure! It's great to have fun. To have sex. I'm all for it! But in no way are you innocent... The minute they told you where you were going, you knew what you were getting into Fin. Why not a bar full of aliens? Why not club or stripclub even? No! You went to a brothel dude! Save the crocodile tears! e)World building, unlike the other books is non existent... No culture, no descriptions and no race variety. Plain and tribal boring. f)Plot is simple and predictable. Very weak. g)Hunter is not a likable character. I agree. He is an ass. And romance doesn't happen til the end. h)Sex and relationship build up was awful. i)Ending Hea guaranteed but unsatisfying. Oh hell! 2.5 Stressed Stars! I really wanted it to be good... But it wasn't. So dissapointment leads to not recommend this sample in the series. But I know you can do better Poppy! I truly believe this was just a stone in your path. I will read other future books of autho obviously. I'l just try forget this happened. I bid you farewell, may yourr next reads be fabulous!

A lot of people objected to the darker theme of this story.  I read dark romances and didn’t find it that bad.  Hunter was never physically abusive; he could be mean and insensitive and border on verbal abuse when angry.  But what couples don’t get nasty with each other at times when they fight?  I don’t consider any of the sex scenes forced, seduced yes, forced no.  So I had no issue with the darker theme.   This story brought tears to my eyes at one point, and I felt Finley heartbreak and desolation.  I could feel her pain and just wanted to shake Hunter.  The only issue I had was I felt that Finely capitulated too quickly to Hunter.  He agreed to her terms but after everything he put her through that man or Yarian if you will, needed to work for it more.   Overall the story is loaded with passion, emotion, and enough heartache to put a tear in your eye.  I am giving it 4.5 Boundless Stars; it was excellent.   http://www.boundlessbookreviews.com https://www.facebook.com/BBReviews

Other than that the book had some potential. Most of the time every little thing was spelled out excruciatingly step by step, but occasionally there were scenes that seemed to flow a little better, and that maintained a bit of mystery, and I liked that. However my question is, was it worth it? For me, no. The little scenes throughout the book that kept me going, were in the end, outweighed by the complete and total flop at the end of the book. Complete and total disappointment.

4.5 stars! I love Poppy Rhys' writing style. She manages to make a common genre of romance feel very original in all her books. Overall I enjoyed reading this book. The main characters were well developed and the plot was exciting. The quality of writing was great and think the author did an awesome job of world building. My one major highlight is to point out the ANGST in this romance. So if you hate angsty relationships and slow burn love then I would say be aware, but don't be afraid to try it 4.5 stars! My one major highlight is to point out the ANGST in this romance. So if you hate angsty relationships and slow burn love then I would say be aware, but don't be afraid to try it out, because it was overall really good. Where I thought this book fell short was the personality of the female character Fin. She seemed very hot and cold with love for Hunter. I was mildly frustrated with her character because she would say how turned on she was, then the next line she was remarking on how terrible hunter was. It was confusing and sometimes annoying. I just wanted to see more romance between the characters. I mean the sex scenes were awesome but I never really got why they fell in love. The ending seemed a little rushed. I felt like the characters didn't even "fall in love" until 90% of the book was finished and I wanted MORE!!. But I understand this is by no means a reflection of the quality of the book, but more my own personal taste as a reader. Seriously check out the first two books in the series because they are also SO AMAZING! And really I just can't wait to read more about the awesome universe Poppy Rhys has created.

I read this because I like the author's imagination but I was surprised at how different it was from the first two. Both MCs have a lot of guilt and this comes out as anger at each other. 3 Stars No need to go into the full story, it's been shared a lot in previous reviews. Finley and Hunter are 2 messed up characters. After 5 years at the Carnal Bazaar I expect hostility from Hunter. Finley is a bit spoiled, but you can't fault her for being pissy about being on a planted such as Yari. After 5 years at the Carnal Bazaar I expect hostility from Hunter. Finley is a bit spoiled, but you can't fault her for being pissy about being on a planted such as Yari. This isn't like the previous 2 books where our heroine gets to be a princes. I get that Yari has it's traditions, but Hunter didn't make it easy on Finley either. He should have had that talk with his tribal elder before everything went to hell in a hand basket. In the end a compromise is fleshed out...for both of them.

Stuck together for days in their attempts to escape the guards on their trail, Finley and Hunter fight their unceasing attraction towards each other - made ever the more difficult when Hunter fails in his resistance and 'accidentally' marks her as his mate. Thoughts: This installment in the series definitely is not as good as the two that came before. Anyone going into this expecting the same level of plot and writing would be vastly disappointed. Finley is certainly no Lucia, and Hunter cannot even compare to my dear and ever so lovable Soren. But with that being said, this book is okay if you go in treating it as a stand alone. I really liked the premise of the book - the idea that our heroine is going to meet her love interest in an illegal prostitution ring of all places certainly intrigued me. However, I think the ultimate fall of this book is a result of Finley and Hunter's complete lack of progress and growth until the very last few pages. All through the pairs time in hiding from the guards and their time on Hunter's home planet, there was an absolute lack of growth in their relationship - while Hunter spent his time lamenting on his mating to an inferior human, Finley spent her time resisting Hunter's advances and complaining of his kidnapping of her. Their attitudes were understandable at first, but as a reader, my interest is in development - I wanted to be able to see their triumphs over their own stubbornness and have some real romance happen already. But it literally was not until the very last few pages that Hunter, after losing Finley for a few months, that he finally realizes that she is not inferior to him and that he loves her. I really wished that we could've spent more time with the two after they have gotten over their differences.

A Great Read! This was a great read, and I really enjoyed the dynamic between the two main characters. Poppy did a wonderful job displaying the little things that made the bigger picture fuller and deeper, the cuts sharper, and the healing soulful. Why this wasn't a 5 star: there was a big issue that needed to be worked out and they never really did. He gets scolded and suddenly he does a 180. I wish they had worked through his issues through the novel as it would have also helped the reader bett A Great Read! ****SOME TINY SPOILERS****** So, I missed this little guy when I was reading this series. This one was good, Fin was a dick. He was ok majority of the book, but as soon as he got her back to his home planet he just became a massive dick. Honestly, their relationship became borderline abusive. He claimed to not be able to live without her, but he treated her like shit. He thought of her and made her shoes, but claimed she was too weak skinned. He claimed to not be able to live without her, but he treated her like shit. He thought of her and made her shoes, but claimed she was too weak skinned. No one in his tribe ever said a negative thing about her, but he had plenty of awful things to say about her. He kept saying it was because she was a weak species and what not, but when she finally left (because her parents were worried and came to her rescue) it took a tribal elder to show him that the only person in the tribe who had an issue with her was him. It makes me wonder if he would have ever come around had she not been rescued, or if he would have just stayed the same. I do like that she had demands and didn't just go back to him right away. She stood her ground and basically let him know that she didn't appreciate being treated that way and if he did it again she wouldn't hesitate to leave. She was a strong female role that I appreciated reading about, but sometimes I wanted her to just run to see if he would care. Once the rescue showed up, I figured that worked just as well.

Well I didn't love this as much as the first in this series. But I didn't hate it or dislike it as much as some of other reviewers either. I like this authors writing style and her ability to really capture my attention. She does a great job with building worlds that I can picture. Hunter, the creature she is with grabs her and hauls her to safety. Then he keeps on hauling her all the way back to his home planet. Hunter is moody, and jumps to conclusions. Fin tries to make the best of her situation but Hunter makes it hard for her to adjust and feel welcome because of his constant anger at being mated to her. I liked the end. I love a good grovel, and it was nice to see Hunter eat a little humble pie. Well as much as someone with Hunter's pride can anyway.

not my fave. at all not great. i would say not terrible, but it was kind of terrible. i wondered why this book.had lower ratings than the others, and after reading,i understand. the characters are stubborn and it's a bit of a slow burn. i really didn't like finley,as she is not a pragmatic person. i like my alien abduction heroines to THINK and not just bemoan their circumstances. hunter was really angry through most of the book also. so.much. anger and angst! i would have prefered SOME give from t not my fave. at all not great. i would say not terrible, but it was kind of terrible. i wondered why this book.had lower ratings than the others, and after reading,i understand. the characters are stubborn and it's a bit of a slow burn. i really didn't like finley,as she is not a pragmatic person. i like my alien abduction heroines to THINK and not just bemoan their circumstances. hunter was really angry through most of the book also. so.much. anger and angst! i would have prefered SOME give from the characters before the 85% mark. at 93% they still were butting horns. honestly,i was disappointed in this one after reading the first two,but i'm still going to continue on with the series. i'm basically giving it four stars to counter those who can read a novel, but not a "trigger warning." how are you going to one star a book that TELLS you there is dubious content for HAVING dubious content?

This was bad.Like, really, really bad.It does not even read easily and story is miserable.I am not against reading hard, emotional stuff,I tend to avoid it,but I am not against it as long as it is well written and believable. Good book that felt a little rushed and not quite rounded out. The h begins as a silly twit, and the huge grumpy H causes her trouble. She is alien to him, and he's horrified that he is so drawn to her. In his view she is weak, unsuited to his needs, but he just can't help it - she's his. The h improves as the book continues, is very compliant, and although their escape is not easy for her, she doesn't act out much, other than to ask where they are going. He rarely answers her. I liked his character a lot, full of hot air and ego but his redemption was too short, he needed to grovel more. I liked it, didn't love it.

Hunter is very prejudice against humans, and his mating one, "accidental" or otherwise, creates a massive conflict. It's more dramatic than a typical bad guy. Rape fantasy is NOT my thing Maybe it's just me, but I have issues with the idea of being hauled off against my will and yet somehow the sexual tension is enough to override my self-preservation. The writing and character development, as usual, was well done (the only reason for second star), but the story premise really bothered me. I know a number of men believe all women secretly have a desire to be raped, and they would enjoy it "against their will." Well I don't!
