Overall this was a good book. It was easy to read and I thought is was well organized. I went through and tagged/marked information that was relevant to me and that I thought was useful. Some things I found helpful: 1. Knowing how to end your statements/answers to questions, page 62. 2. How to answer "What is your greatest weakness?" Page 73. 3. "What are your salary expectations?" Page 80 This was particularly interesting as I have seen many of job postings in the wildlife field that simply say "competitive salary" or "DOE". I thought Thea had some good ideas on how to answer by not really answering and/or by referencing information that can be found online on Glassdoor or similar sites. 4. Another good one was how to answer if you are asked if you have been having other interviews. Page 81. 5. And there was a list of questions to ask your interviewer(s) starting on page 102. Some questions were relevant and helpful to me. I did not really care for the time spent on story telling. I am rarely asked to tell stories in my interviews and if I do they tend to be behavioral questions or I'm asked about how I handled difficult field situations. This might just be due to my career field (wildlife biology) or the job level that I am currently at (recent graduate). Some things were geared toward people working corporate jobs (CEO type stuff, perhaps), which again was not relevant for me, but might be helpful for others.

Loved this book! It's a quick read, and its jam-packed with essential information for getting your next job - from preparing for the interview process, to interviewing successfully, to following up with style so that you stand out from all the other candidates. I recommend this book even if your looking for your next job at your current company. Very helpful book. Gives great advice on what to do and not do during an interview. How to prepare before hand and what to say.

I recommend having a pencil and paper (or the electronic equivalent) ready before you start reading this book, as you will want to make notes to tailor the suggestions to your own experience, skills and field. This book was better than I expected; the author made many insightful recommendations. For example, a lot of people will have similar strengths (integrity, reliability, communications skills, etc) so you really need to focus on presenting what you have to offer that is unique. This book was better than I expected; the author made many insightful recommendations. For example, a lot of people will have similar strengths (integrity, reliability, communications skills, etc) so you really need to focus on presenting what you have to offer that is unique. The author emphasizes REV points. REV = relevant, exceptional, and verifiable. She also emphasizes the importance of telling stories which give good examples of times you have used your skills successfully in the past. She suggests having at least 20 stories ready in case you progress through multiple interview levels or find you have already used a story when another question arises that requires a similar/overlapping example. I found the first half of the book which emphasizes Q & A more useful than the second half which emphasizes nonverbal aspects of interviewing. This is because the first half seemed to offer insight beyond the standard recommendations, whereas the second half was a bit more generic. Overall, worth a read for anyone who might be interviewing in the near future.

Well, proof is in the pudding. If I get the job I interview for on Tuesday, this book was fantastic! If not, we’ll... But in all seriousness, this book was just the right length for preparing for the interview. I thought the exercises seem appropriate and I do not see how I am better prepared now. There are a lot of tips online, but I found this book more useful. It works through a process rather than random tips and questions. A brilliantly written book! It gives insights and inspiration on how a book on a specific subject must be written. Great in-depth knowledge combined with an ease of writing (easy to read) and more importantly, the logical flow, makes it a valuable reference book.

This book was very clear and concise and being a short book was just long enough to give you time to read a few days before an interview. Very clearly written with practical tips. The language was readable and it was not filled with jargon that you would struggle to understand.
