The conclusion to this series was not the best, but not the worst, either. I am a firm believer in let the dead stay dead. Having said that, Konrath is always entertaining. This is about what can be expected from this author.

4 stars for another Jack Daniels rescue mission, similar to Last Call the previous book in the series. Some of the events in the previous book form part of the narrative in this book and you would understand this one better if you read Last Call first. This book also ties into the next book in the series, Shot Girl. If you read Last Call first, and are upset that some characters die, then you will like this book. There are pretty gruesome descriptions of torture/violence. There are also some hum 4 stars for another Jack Daniels rescue mission, similar to Last Call the previous book in the series. Couldn't finish it. Stupid characters and plot. Vicious, horrible story. Made it to about 25% and that as far as I can read it.

So friggin fantastic! I absolutely love this series, and I believe it's the best criminal suspense thriller series I have ever read. I love the characters, the humor, the suspense, the love that binds the characters together, and the action! If you haven't read this series, start at book one because you don't want to miss a moment!

J.A.Konrath should have concluded this series with book 10. Up till then the series was violent, but funny. White Russian IMHO was violent and disgusting!

Had a really hard time staying interested in this book despite enjoying previous Jack Daniels' books. Not sure why. There were many funny scenes and the usual horrifying ones. I may have to try going through this one again some time soon.

WOW!! The gang's (mostly) all here. McGlade talks Jack into "one last one" and she, questioning her judgement all the way, leaves Gil/Phineas and their daughter behind, gets into the Crimebago Duex, and off they go, Jack questioning her sanity with every mile. Memories of the last book are brought up constantly. I swear I read all of this series but missed it. Downloaded and ready to catch up. Memories of the psychos Jack and Herb have brought down are also recalled (with convenient links to the books on Amazon) are here. As we know, with Harry's assistance (Harry barely tolerated) they took down some really bad ones. Some of the worst being women. But the psychos (yes, more than usual this time) they are up against in this outing are truly whacked. With the exception of not remembering the last book, this is exceptional, living up to the Konrath brand. The ending may leave a long time reader in tears, as it did me. Is there another Jack Daniels book coming? Only the author knows. While this CAN be read as a stand alone book, new readers would be well advised to read others first. Probably the best of the series. But I think that about all of them.

There had better be a Book 12 now! Talk about leaving the reader hanging. It has been so long since a Jack Daniels book, I had forgotten how much I like her and the background of her and Phin. Jack seems fairly "cold" in this story, and I had expected her to get past this somewhat. Great story regardless, and I'm looking for Book 12.

Jack is back! Great series by a great author and was surprised by this addition. I had a hard time putting the book down, so I blazed through it! I'm shocked by the sickos that Jack has to bring to justice. I love the feelings that the main characters have for each other and it's how I feel for them as well. I'm reminded of some things that happened in previous books, but believe you could read this without knowing the history, and if you like it, then you have found a new series and ten new book Jack is back! This. This is the reason I faked my own death. Because there was always one more lunatic, with some perceived grudge, trying to harm me for something I did on the job. These books are usually fun and silly, but this one felt a bit like Konrath was just rehashing old stuff for the sake of it. I have to admit, as much as I enjoy this series, I'm a little sick and tired of hearing Jack complain about her marriage to Phin. Also, not a fan of the kid. There's no way a four year old talks like that. McGlade is as hilarious as ever and the fat jokes never cease to make me laugh. Also, it was fun to see some old characters back helping Jack on her mission. The ending left the door open for another book. Just hope I don't have to wait years and years for it.

Jack Daniels? Never less than 5 stars...LOL OMG.... I always wait in tense anticipation for the next episode of the Jack Daniels series so there is no way I am ever going to give less than a 5 star review to Mr. Konrath. As mentioned previously, I typically hate these types of police thrillers, but Mr. Konrath creates such varied loveable heroes, heroines, and villains that I am salivating to read more. Hurry up or the Cowboy will be extracting fingernails instead of teeth on my behalf)

I was happy they Herb and Tequila were alive but I felt it was unrealistic. Oh well, Tequila is my favorite so I don't mind. Jack and Phin are in hiding and Jack goes with Harry to find Herb and Tequila. They are on a opium slave trade. We are also introduced to a weird pair of twins named Heckler and Jeckle. We are taken back in time to what we think is their childhood and all these crazy kills they did but that turns our to be The Cowboy and Wyatt. This one didn't start off that we'll for me. Phin followed them and helped save Jack's life. Wyatt was killed but the weird twins save Annie The Cowboy. Jack might or might now walk again but everybody is OK. Look forward to the next one.

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. J.A. Konrath has become one of my favorite authors and even though his Jack Daniels stories have basically turned into literary torture porn, I still look forward to the new releases. If there is anything wrong with this book in particular, it would have to be Jack's marriage. I love her and Phin as a couple but it feels like they've been having the same conflict for the last three books (Rum Runner, Last Call, and White Russian). I really wish that they'd just communicate with each other. I almos J.A. In my search for all things Russian-related, I stumbled upon this. I'd never read anything from the series before, so obviously I had to check it out. The genre is a bit hard to categorize, but highly entertaining. There's plenty of humor, plenty of action, and plenty of really gross torture. The last started to get to me as I read it, so readers beware: there's some horrifying violence here. 'Jack Daniels', with her merry band of wonderfully misfit partners/friends, NEVER FAILS to entertain. "White Russian" is clever, grim, funny and has a few plot twists that will spin your head like a top. This is JA Konrath at his best. Insane, cringe-worthy, and hysterical Another Jacqueline Daniels book I couldn't put down. The dialogue between Harry and Jack is ludicrous. I haven't laughed at a book this hard in a while. The villains are the worst of the worst. I imagined a world where these people really exist and I got sick to my stomach. There's no way I'm going to reveal any spoilers, so I'll just say I recommend this book. As long as Konrath is serving up Jack Daniels, I'm buying I love Jack Daniels (the books, not so much the whiskey). They never disappoint, and White Russian is no exception. Kept me guessing and still managed to make me say "Wait..what?" Konrath definitely plumbs the depths of human depravity and his books are not for the squeamish, but he is a darn good writer and a better story teller, and he shows us the best side of humanity juxtaposed with the worst. Truly satisfying read.

Meh I continue to read this series because I’m invested in the characters, I guess. But as the series gets more gratuitous in its violence and the plots ever more implausible it becomes hard to enjoy. But I liked how Jack’s character evolved in this installment and there where some humorous moments that made me chuckle. I’m guessing as Konrath has continued to push the envelope it’s unlikely he will back off. But I would sure enjoy them more if he would return to the tone of the first 4 or 5 book Meh I continue to read this series because I’m invested in the characters, I guess. So happy to see Jack Daniels back in business again with her friends and sidekicks. Konrath writes with the unique blend of humor and horror that works for me. The humor certainly helps to counteract the rather graphic torture and killing scenes. Thank goodness for Harry! If I read right, it looks like another Jack Daniels installment will be forthcoming in the future. Never say die!

Blood, Gore and Insane cruelty This book isn't for anyone with a weak stomach. In many ways it's fairly well written but the contents are just sickening in many ways in how cruel and inhumane people can be. It should come with a warning like some TV shows about the contents containing violence that may offend some people.

Not sure what to say about this book. I liked it and I didn't. Not exactly sure why. It held my intrest, but it just seemed off. Harry makes a shocking discovery and brings Jack back into the game. That causes problems with her and Phin. They just never learn. Promises are cheap.
