Great book consisting of interviews with various recording artists, with the focus on their recording process. Helped me to worry less about what I didn't have, and put my energy into creating with the resources I do have

One of my favorite magazines, and a great book to boot. Instead of many recording how-to's that assume you have a proper space and thousands to spend on gear and software, the book takes a more pragmatic approach and talks about how to deal with less-than-ideal facilities and equipment. It champions patience and creativity as the most important factors in getting the right recording. A must have for any professional or amateur producers (or "engineers," if you'd prefer, Steve).

If you're into music recording, this book (and the second volume) are indispensable. Tons of fantastic interviews and some interesting projects and ideas. Way fucking better than 'Recording' magazine by ten miles.

danger: this book will make you buy a cassette 4-track. If you already have one, it might make you record pavement and my bloody valentine covers into it for 3 or 4 nights in a row.
