Very good second chance story. Nolan made his first appearance in Twin Secrets, as the oldest of the Elliott men. There's something in his past that gives him the experience to help Colt through his romantic difficulties. In this book we get his story. Ten years earlier, Nolan and Pepper had been young and in love, making plans for a future together. But an unexpected pregnancy followed by a miscarriage drove them apart. Now Pepper is back in town, pregnant with another man's baby. From the moment they meet again, it is obvious that the sparks are still there between them. In the years since they parted, Nolan has dedicated his life to his work with only superficial relationships outside it. He's never forgotten her and his regrets for the way he handled the loss of their baby. Pepper has been drifting through life, looking for her place and purpose in life. With her unexpected pregnancy she has come back to Stone River to rebuild her life. She hadn't expected to run into Nolan so soon, and it's quite a shock to both of them. When her apartment catches fire that night, Nolan happens to be in the area and saves her. His protective instincts kicking in, he steamrollers her into coming home with him that night. But fate isn't done with her yet, and the next day the parents of the baby's father show up, telling her they are going to sue for full custody. I ached for Pepper and her fear of losing this child she wants so much. Nolan can't stand to see her hurting like that and decides that the only way to make amends for the past is to help her now. Pepper doesn't want to accept his help, but doesn't really have any choice if she wants to keep her baby. I loved the development of their relationship. Nolan has convinced himself he is only helping her because of his guilt over how he had treated her before. And because the attraction is still so strong that he wants her in his bed again. But he doesn't want anything permanent because he's not about to open himself up to that kind of hurt again. He even goes so far as to marry her to ensure that the custody suit goes her way, still insisting that it is only temporary. I loved seeing that, no matter what he says, his feelings are getting involved. There are some really sweet scenes of him doing anything he can to make her happy, from shopping for baby things to indoor picnics. He's also super protective and I loved seeing him take care of her. Pepper is very reluctant to accept his help because she can see herself falling for him all over again. She doesn't want to risk that kind of devastating pain again. I loved watching her try to maintain her independence, reminding herself that it's only temporary. But his care and consideration work their way past her walls, and she can't deny that she's never stopped loving him. When the need for their marriage ends and Pepper leaves, Nolan finally faces the truth about his feelings. I loved his big moment at the end when he finally opens his heart to her. The family is also a central theme to the story. Though medicine is his calling, being part of the family ranch is a big part of who Nolan is. I liked seeing his bit of envy over Colt and Annabelle's happiness together, reminding him of what he could have had. I loved seeing how quickly Pepper and Annabelle became friends. We also see a bit more of Hayes, the military brother, as Colt and Nolan prepare for his homecoming. The epilogue is a lead-in to his story as we get a glimpse into the pain that is driving him. I can't wait for his book.

Claimed by the Rancher by Jules Bennett is another one of my favorite Harlequin Desire stories. There is so much angst, so much drama and a burning romance that is sure to warm your heart. Yeah, he may be arrogant at times but he has his reasons and his redeeming qualities will make you swoon. Meanwhile, the heroine, Pepper Manning is a sweet, tender spirit who is pregnant and facing some trying times and the last person she needs in her life right now is a man. Yet Nolan is insistent and the tug-o-war of emotions she still feels for him is unquestionable and undeniable. Could they rekindle their romance even if she is carrying another man’s baby? Hmm—(grab the book and find out!). In the end, I found this story to be the perfect escape from every day, real life drama. It was genuine, sexy and unique. I couldn't get enough of it! Would I recommend to anyone? Yeah, you bet! Go grab a copy guys. You won't be disappointed. It's that freaking good. Highly Recommended 4.5 Stars

A reunion romance - Nolan and Pepper are thrown together after ten years apart. Pepper has returned to town pregnant and opening her own store. She runs into trouble and Nolan steps in to help her. I'm not sure how I feel about the genre of heroine pregnant with someone else's baby. Honestly, at first I was hoping someway somehow it would turn out to be Nolan's baby. I did enjoy the story though and seeing Nolan get his HEA. I look forward to the next book. He’s now dead and his wealthy parents are demanding custody of his unborn child and siccing their attorneys on poor Pepper. Nolan Elliott tells her the rich grandparents will dig up anything they can get on Pepper—background, her work ethic, ex-boyfriends—to make her look like an unfit mother. Being rich himself, he brings his attorneys and private investigators to bear to help her, showers her with clothes and baby items, takes over renovating and re-decorating her burnt-out apartment and, oh yeah, offers a temporary marriage, in name only, strictly to help her maintain a façade of respectability and stability for the sake of the baby. Why is that always the only solution a man can offer to a pregnant, unwed woman in these stories? This is the modern age, where a potential mother has any number of access to public programs to help her. Nolan’s suggestion of marriage isn’t as coercive as some I’ve read in other novels but it’s just as retrogressive. He could offer to foster the child or be its guardian. Marriage doesn’t have to be in the cards. As Pepper herself states, if marriage is the only solution his attorney has to offer, then perhaps she needs to seek her own legal representation. I concur. But Pepper herself doesn’t put up much more than a token protest. She does carry on working at her shop and painting her unique artwork for sale. But she’s too quick to take Nolan up on his offer, accepting living in his home and his many shopping gifts. After all, the marriage is in name only and they don’t have to consummate it. But Pepper and Nolan have history and he’s determined to get her back in his bed again. So his pushing to have sex is stated up front and he’s not subtle about it. Pepper almost immediately starts giving ground. She quivers, she shivers, she melts and he’s one smoking specimen of man-meat. She’s resisting but he’s pushing at her boundaries and it’s not a question of if she’ll fall in bed with him but when. The Wrights are meant to provide the necessary conflict in this story, but they’re just there to provide the engine that gets matters moving. Their presence is nominal, a one-time appearance only; after their initial appearance, they remain mere voices on the phone. With this halfhearted attempt at drama, this is a sex romp with a soupcon of moodiness, a smidgen of drama and a lot of unresolved sexual tension that becomes resolved sexual tension depressingly fast.

Nolan is the oldest of the Elliot brother's and is a doctor, who does his ranching duties on the side. I couldn't wait to get to know Nolan better in this book. In Colt's book you could tell there was something in his past that still haunted him. He was kind of dark, mysterious, and broody in that book. I really loved getting to know Nolan in this book and quickly find out in the beginning of the book about Nolan's past, when he runs into his ex Pepper in her shop. I thought that Nolan's heart was in the right place with wanting to help Pepper and the situation that she was in. But I'm not entirely sure that his intentions were in the right place. I know he was trying to make thing's up to Pepper after hurting her in the past. Gosh I'm not entirely sure on Pepper. She finds herself back in Stone Ridge alone and pregnant. And quickly finds herself relying on help from Nolan, when her baby's father's family comes in the picture. Though she tries to fight against the help as much as she can. Even though Pepper ran from Stone Ridge after her miscarriage I think she has dealt with the past as best as she could. Though at times I found her and Nolan to be stuck in the past. This was a nice, sweet, second chance story where the character's were very likable. Though at times I found them both to be stuck in the past. Through in a baby and you have one of my favorite kind of books. But I did really enjoy this book and loved getting to know Nolan better, and getting to know Pepper. I also loved getting to see Colt in this book, and having cameo appearances from Annabelle and Hayes was also great. I'm giving this book 4.5 Stars out of 5 and can't wait for Hayes book!!!!! ***I voluntarily read an advanced readers copy of this book for my honest opinion****

“Claimed by the Rancher” is book 2 of The Rancher’s Heirs series by Jules Bennett. It features Nolan Elliott, who we met briefly in “Twin Secrets”, and Pepper Manning. Seeing Nolan again when he comes into her shop, the feelings she had for him years before resurface. Problem is, there’s a lot of hurt mixed in with those memories and forgiveness isn’t on the horizon. For Nolan, seeing Pepper pregnant with another man’s baby (who he learns has died), pains him greatly. After all, their relationship ended when Pepper miscarried their child and neither knew how to deal with their grief and Pepper ended up leaving town. With the parents of the baby’s father seeking custody, Nolan wants to protect Pepper, protect her child, and to ease his guilt over how they parted previously. They both acknowledge (to themselves not each other) they still love each other but it takes a tragic event for Nolan to realize he has a second chance with Pepper and he can’t let her end their temporary marriage. “Claimed by the Rancher” is a reunion story and Ms. Bennett excels at bringing this trope to life. She also ends the story with a teaser for Hayes’ story, which we will have to wait until January 2018 to read.

WOW!!! I didn't want to put this book down plus it was moved along quickly. It is a second chance romance and when the book ended, I was ready to read the next book in this series. I can't wait to see what's to come. WOW!!! I didn't want to put this book down plus it was moved along quickly. Absolutely riveting story of rekindling lost love. Nolan fights hard against his feelings toward Pepper, but they are just too strong to ignore.

Awesome!! I loved this story! Pepper and Nolan are star crossed loves. Her return to her hometown sets off an inevitable chain of events. Couldn't put this book down from page one. Awesome!! Pepper and Noah's story made for a cute, quick, reunion story. They have a sad history and finally get their happily ever after. Noah is rich and vows to help Pepper when custody of her baby is threatened. I read this book in one sitting because it brought me into the story and I didn't want to leave until the last word was read. It is definitely a harlequin book and this one was a nice and easy read. How dreamy is Nolan. All take charge and do what it takes to protect his ex and her unborn child. Makes him what fantasies are made of, add surgeon to that and you don't get a better , hotter hero. Pepper has been dealt some blows in life, but Nolan is good for her, and she is good for him. The story line is well paced with a few twist along the way. Some make perfect sense, others are a bit of a stretch, but add to the story and the rebuilding of Pepper and Nolan's relationship so you get a gre How dreamy is Nolan.
