Good read Fast paced read. Suspenseful, keeps you interested and you want to keep on reading. One thing I really liked...no foul language as it usually is in police novels.

Donovan A private investigator from Miami comes back to her hometown to put up her office. She starts remembering all the great memories of her childhood, especially with her brother and father. She was not planning on having a case to work on as soon as she arrived, but the day after she arrives, she receives a call of a missing 11 year old pianist. She gives the case all her time, only to find out she and her brother are the main suspects for the fact that her brother had some criminal records. She tries her best to clear their name. She starts having flashbacks of a tragic event in her childhood and ties it to the case. She fights to collect all the evidence to near death, and finally finds the most evident suspect. Her and the police department think that they have caught the right person but find out that the kidnapper is still on the loose. Kidnapped is a great book for any reader who enjoys a good thriller. The style in the authors writing gives a good description for the reader. Creating multiple events to keep the reader hooked, and leaving a lot of holes in the text for the reader to think about all the possible outcomes of what could happen next. “ She could hear his boots stomping on the gravel behind her. Anna pressed harder. The rain pelted her face and splashed. Her clothes weighed her down and the wind worked against her. The man’s boots splashed through the mud puddle. Anna closed her eyes and spit rain water out of her mouth. Run, she told herself. Run! Run! Run!”(pg 256/online). Creating these types of scenes this book could guaranty entertainment by making the reader feel anxious and creates a lot of suspense. Rating of this novel would be a 4 out of 5. It kept me reading but always made me read back to figure out what was being explained and what was occurring in the story. I believe that this novel is for anyone who enjoys to be left with a question and have the need to keep reading. When transitioning between chapters the reader was always left hanging, making the reader want to read more. I would also recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys mystery and police investigation.

I've seen some of the other reviews complaining about the lack of resolution and that there's still a girl missing. While this is true, I could live with that. I was confident she'd be found and would eventually recover from her ordeal to some extent. What did bother me had much more to do with Anna's brother, Evan. I don't want to spoil the story so it's difficult to go into detail here, but I did have an issue with how easily he forgives Anna for thinking the worst of him. Also, we never find out what the deal is with him and his father. That bugged me. And the actual motive for the crime(s) I just found totally unbelievable and more than a little creepy. Having said all of that, I enjoyed the originality of the story which I thought was well written

I did not like how this book ended, There was no ending! A child is still missing! You have to read the next book in the series to get an ending. What a rip off! I am not spending money on the next book and then find out I need to buy another. Books should have a beginning, middle and an ending!!!!!!
