What he never expected was it turning into a weekend he wished he could forget. Unbeknown to Morgan, a shadow terrorist organization has been building over generations, quietly infiltrating the world’s governments and armies, all so they might one day be in a position to destroy our way of life. On a bright July morning during the summer of 2020, that fateful day arrives. When an EMP levels North America, Morgan and his friends are viciously thrown into a world without rule or order, and in which survival itself does not come without sacrifice. In their mad dash to escape a city suddenly swarmed in chaos, they are joined by two young sisters, an act of violence bringing their paths together. Once cleared of the city, shell-shocked and desperate to reunite with their families, the group embarks on the Colorado Trail—a 500-mile long hiking trail beginning in Waterton Canyon just outside of Denver, and ending in their hometown of Durango. But to make it home, they must find within themselves the strength and resolve to navigate 500 miles of hostile country, filled with hungry and desperate souls who wouldn’t hesitate to kill them for what they have. On its surface, Echoes is a tale of survival—of a group of friends who must band together against insurmountable odds. At its heart is a story of the power behind a family’s love, and how even in the darkest of times, it alone can serve as the light to guide you home.

This was a great book! I really enjoyed reading it. It’s been on my TBR list for far too long. I’ve read many post apocalyptic books but this one stands out above the rest. I felt that the world falling from an EMP is something that can truly happen, which makes this book all the more interesting to read. Don Esquibel did a great job! I can’t wait to read the other two books in this series.

What? No Cabin? In almost every post apocalyptic book I've read, there's always a cabin. Everyone seems to have a cabin to escape to. Not here. That's good. Thank you for not going that route Don M. Esquibel. I enjoyed the story so far. I'm looking for the 2nd part, and hope none of the good guys die during the rescue attempt. But alas...it is teotwawki, and bad things are going to happen. Love will be lost...and found....and lost again. I hope that other reviews don't hold against the author some What? No Cabin? I enjoyed it, and look forward to 'the rest of the story'. The lack of the 5th star is encouragement. Is not because of anything negative. It's because I want to give Don that xtra push. I want to tick that 5th star. -Mick J-

Obviously, the author did a tremendous amount of research, psychological research and age appropriate investigation! An absolute page-turner, difficult to put down, writing that causes the reader to think about family, obstacles and possibilities and probabilities and the various potential scenarios that might happen in the world of different people, groups, lawlessness, good souls and a scenario that is not too far off the beaten path! Dear author,... Excellent!!!

Loved this story This one was of the better written apocalyptic books and I will read the 2nd one when it comes out. There is one common error in almost all of these type of books that makes me cringe. It is the use of "I" when it should be "me". A Catholic school teacher once taught us the easiest rule for this. If you take the other person out of the sentence would you still use " I"? Example: She wanted Sam and "I" to go along with her. If you take out "Sam" would you say "She wanted " I" to g Loved this story This one was of the better written apocalyptic books and I will read the 2nd one when it comes out. So writers please remember this simple rule please!!! Thanks and keep the good stories coming. Monica

A good story line with many twists and surprises in the developing plot. An excellent in-depth development of the characters. It is a good read and I highly recommend it. There are many page flipping pages of introspection and reflection. It seems like a moral struggle at times. With bullets flying around him, the main character does a moral analysis on whether to shoot back at a bunch of guys shooting at him, because they might really be good people with families waiting for them back home. Even though there has been an EMP , the good guys are chased across a field by a fleet of pick up trucks while they themselves flee in an ATV. The ending is bizarre. The reader is left hanging with no successful conclusion. It is a good book, however, despite the various speed bumps.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this book. Not only was it a decent length (not as short as many in the genre) but the young adults were very well crafted. The main character is a decent guy that steps up to help himself and his friends get home. I'd like to think in a catastrophic event there would be good people who would shine. There was a little romance and the shadowy perpetrators of the EMP were kind of beside the point. I very much look forward to the next book (at least I hope there i I was very pleasantly surprised by this book. Their lives changed in the blink of an eye. I fell in love with this family who are stronger than they think they are. Each page of this end of the world is fast paced and exciting. I could not put this book down until the end. I do hope there is a second book. Y o Don Esquibel you are very talented. Keep writing you have been blessed to be an author. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but though the book was for the most part well written, it seemed to lack balance. The plot seemed simplistic, a soap-box for the author's message as most of the characters seemed to have the same inspirational voice when sharing their feelings. On another level, the writer seemed to keep us in the past with the main character's memories rather than exploring the growth of the characters through the harrowing experience. Like I said, maybe that's just me. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but though the book was for the most part well written, it seemed to lack balance. Totally Frickin awesome!!! I just finished reading this book and I can't wait for the next one. The authors voice is incredible. The characters are real. The story is gripping and well written. It is so rare to find indie boss these days that are worth reading but this is one of them. Suffice it to say you MUST read this book. I can't recommend it enough. Totally Frickin awesome!!! Great read, needs typos cleanup. Excellent read! Great character development, good tension with periods of relaxation; believable scenarios of peril and redemption. Too bad there were near constant distractions due to the numerous typos and poor grammar. Let your ideas and narrative flow, but do find someone to help you clean up the finished product. Best of luck!

Convincing, relatable characters. I enjoyed this book very much. The characters and scenarios are well fleshed out and relatable. Morgan is a person that is the best part of everyone. His goodness, strength, and love of family a goal in the best of times. I am looking forward to book two to discover the fate of this young man, his family, and friends

Heart rendering I think we all must wonder what it would really be like if the world, as we know it, were to end. Reading this has given me hope for mankind cause I really believe IT will happen. What a great story.

How tragedy molds friends into family I loved this book because it's so plausible. I have been reading many books about what might happen when we are hit by an EMP. The author captures the heart and emotions of his characters and I felt I could believe him. How tragedy molds friends into family I loved this book because it's so plausible. Much better written than most post-apocalyptic fiction. The protagonist is more believable, more human, and not just a tactical special forces clone macho dude. Fair amount of action though. I will certainly pick up the next one (which can't be said for other post-apoc series I've read) Much better written than most post-apocalyptic fiction. Phenomenal! This book, this survival story, has to be one of the best. A classic. Morgan is so intuitive and compelling, that he stands as a symbol of a true American. A Pioneer like our forefathers. Don Esquibel is a master.

Very good. This was the first book in quite a while that had me tear up over something that happened to a person. It's usually the animals that get to me. I'll be waiting for the sequel.
