I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This was a collection of trivia regarding rock music from the 1960s to the 1990s. I really liked how it was organised, and the information was pretty good. I really liked the Q&A sections at the end of each chapter. For all of the famous and not so famous bands that this has facts about, it misses out on AC/DC, Queen and Metallica? But it talks about Johnny Cash and Madonna pretty frequently. And each section ends with “random fun facts”—did you know only one of the Beach Boys really surfed? The chapters on Great Albums offer plenty to help a new listener create a great collection. And Test Yourself questions and answers provide plenty of entertainment and fodder for quiz nights with friends. Rock Trivia Madness would be a cool gift to share with anyone who’s lived through the music of the 60s to 90s, or been forced to listen so often they learned to like it. Have fun and enjoy fun musical trivia. Disclosure: I got it on a deal.

I felt like this book was light on any really interesting trivia, and that the author's choice of bands to be completely random. Frankly, you will find more trivia in each band's wikipedia entry than you will in the 2 or 3 paragraphs in this book. Ironically, the fact that this book was so bereft of information meant that you can finish it quickly and be done with it.

This book is a short nonfiction collection of trivia, random fun facts, and test-yourself quizzes about rock music from the 1960s through the 1990s. It was well organized, first by decade and second by band, which I liked about it because it was easy to find specific things that you're looking for. It covers a wide range of artists, mainly focusing on the well known but also delving into some of the world's one hit wonders and never-was-but-shoulda-beens. It also includes two chapters purely about hit rock albums that different bands have come out with over the years, laid out chronologically. I thought that the book was very interesting and informative. I liked the way the authors really seemed to have a passion for the subject, and their excitement about the music was contagious. It inspired me to listen to some bands I'd never thought of before. I gave it four stars rather than five, though, because it was rather crude in places when I felt it could have been avoidable, such as several curse words including about a half dozen occurrences of the F-word. Granted, these were usually used when quoting somebody else or when in a song title, but did they really need to include it?

This was my second audiobook from the author, and I expected the content to be in more of a Q&A format like the previous collection I enjoyed. However, the fascinating facts soon drew me into the listening experience, primarily because the authors don't just list a bunch of random facts -- instead, they give you the story behind the facts. This in-depth storytelling kept me listening even to decades (the 60s and 70s) I wasn't familiar with. His narration makes this more than a list of facts and completely kept my attention engaged. Highly recommended for family listening and people who don't necessarily enjoy fiction on audio. This is perfect to enjoy while driving, walking, working out or commuting. This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Always down for some Rock'n'Roll trivia , most of the important bands and musicians were mentionned from Hendrix to Wonder to Bowie to the Beatles and the Stones , Nirvana , Motorhead , Judas Priest , Black Sabbath , Led Zepplin , the Runaways and through it all I'm screaming where is AC/DC ? You can't talk about rock and not nod your head at them , it's called ignorance and disrespect , also where the fuck is Metallica ? yes it's considered metal but if you go on mentionning Madonna (who's the Always down for some Rock'n'Roll trivia , most of the important bands and musicians were mentionned from Hendrix to Wonder to Bowie to the Beatles and the Stones , Nirvana , Motorhead , Judas Priest , Black Sabbath , Led Zepplin , the Runaways and through it all I'm screaming where is AC/DC ? I truly enjoyed this nonfiction Rock Trivia book. I learned some fascinating things about bands that I love. Madonna's music video "Express Yourself" was created by David Fincher. It covers the decades from 1960 to the end of 1990s. I opened a YouTube tab on my computer and played samples of songs that I was not familiar with. This is a book that I will refer to the next time I purchase music. 3.25 Stars A fun Rock n Roll trivia book, mostly about musicians/bands from the 60-90s. It's not comprehensive, but there are some interesting tidbits in the book, a few quizzes, and a good section on albums that music lovers should listen to if they haven't already. For readers who enjoy music history, especially Rock. LT Members Giveaway
