I really hope more of these books become available on Audible. I have listened to the book twice already. Okay, it's about murder but that fact aside, this is an entertaining, comfort read. I think Fiona is adorable. She is a self-doubting chatterbox who sometimes doesn't know when to shut up. I found myself laughing out loud in places. The fact that she has a normal nice guy boyfriend without any, as far as I know, hidden vices or dual intentions is part of the reason for the book's charm. The fact that she has a normal nice guy boyfriend without any, as far as I know, hidden vices or dual intentions is part of the reason for the book's charm. As the plot develops, Fiona finds herself in a pickle and her reaction to her situation is slightly irrational and completely understandable. The way she extracts herself from said pickle is one of the main themes of the book. This is the basis for some of the comedy in the story. The comedy is just my style. It is gently and also clever. I love the way what Fiona thinks tends to come straight out of her mouth even at a moment that is not all together suitable. We hear her thoughts and her opinions. I loved the grandmother touch. No spoilers but I kept waiting for a certain person to be freaked out. I look forward to seeing how that plays out in subsequent books. Please get them on to Audiobook, it is my best chance of enjoying the whole series. The narrator Maren Swenson Waxenberg does an incredible job. She definitely has a gift for voices and gets Fiona just right as well as all the other characters. I would like to give her five stars too.

This was a surprising little gem! I had this sitting around on my shelf for a long time and decided to grab it on a whim and give it a shot. I'm so glad I did! It was so much fun to read! Her mother usually does the editing but isn't available this time. Fiona will be spending 6 weeks by the beach as per Wyla's request about where the work would be done. Great house, great beach, and her boyfriend Nathan can drive the few hours from where he is to come spend time with her. All is well and good until Fiona is taking a walk on the beach and her doggie alerts her to a dead body, a dead body! After this, so many things begin to happen. When Nathan gets there he's thrown right in the mix of things since he is a detective himself and knows some of the others investigating the murder. While trying to suss out the crime suspects are plentiful and motives abound. The author writes the story with humor and well defined characters. The plot is smoothly done and the mystery is a delight to try to solve as the story goes on. Very good story!

(review request submitted by the author for an honest critique) You ever meet a character and just know they are shady and guilty of something? Well, that’s exactly what I experienced in Waves of Murder. There were three murders and I was only surprised by one revelation. This revelation (keeping things vague on purpose) wrapped up all three murders into a nice little package. I do love stories that have a complete ending! Chocolate….. many, many, many mentions of chocolate. I can definitely tell C.S. has a sweet tooth. Now onto the big questions…. Would I recommend this book to others? Yes! Would I recommend having a stash of chocolate nearby incase C.S. McDonald’s mentioning of candy bars activates your own sweet tooth? ABSOLUTELY! Just be sure and not smear any chocolate on the pages because you won’t want to miss a single moment of Waves of Murder. (Find more reviews/ratings at www.superkambrook.com)

It's Fiona's summer vacation from being a kindergarten teacher, and Fiona's looking forward to getting her yard in order, maybe do some painting, but her mother has volunteered Fiona to edit a romance for an old friend. Comes with a perk, a beach house on one of the great lakes, and a boatload on money. Of course, there is a murder. And then another. Fiona believes she's got it all figured out, and can't wait for her boyfriend, homicide detective Nathan Landry to come for a weekend visit. Romance, murder, and suspense are woven into this tale of a female sleuth hidden behind the title of kindergarten teacher, a persona that fools the evildoers into thinking she is harmless, far from it. Fiona Quinn is a delight and the situations she find herself in equally enjoyable (if you call stumbling into a murder enjoyable). This is so much more excitement than I ever imagined for a teacher or anyone else living a fairly normal life. Fiona is compelled to help solve this mystery even if it means sticking her neck out and that's what makes these books so fabulous. There are enough twists and plot changes to keep you interested and the ending was a definite surprise. Nice clean murder mystery I loved this book! Technically, almost error free and well written. This is a complex murder mystery that is cleanly written which means it is safe for teenagers to read as well as adults. I tried figuring out who the culprits were but McDonald weaves twists in her work. Five stars.
