FIRST OFF, I THINK IT'S FUCKING AWESOME THAT GOODREADS NOW INCLUDES MONTHLY COMIC BOOKS AND MAGAZINES, ETC. ON THEIR WEBSITE FOR YOU TO PUT ON YOUR READING SHELVES! LOL....it really is great, GR did not have that when I first joined. So now I can buy monthly comics, shelve them on my page, and review them after reading them ( I have some really old comics, maybe I'll review those on here too). I love this comic book! So now I can buy monthly comics, shelve them on my page, and review them after reading them ( I have some really old comics, maybe I'll review those on here too). I love this comic book! Yes, it was the TV show that got me reading it, but I knew about it years ago from people I knew who were reading it. I first started reading the hardcover trades, and I said to myself "I'll read these first to get caught up on every Walking Dead story, and then I'll jump into the monthly books.". Well a few months ago I changed my mind about that when I was in a local comic shop and picked up The Walking Dead # 166. Now I'll keep reading the hardcovers along with the monthly books, and eventually the two will meet somewhere in the middle. This issue is mostly the characters still mourning the death of Andrea in issue 167 (very sad issue...but I liked what Kirkman had to say in his apology on the last page a lot!), also dealing with the aftermath of the events that happened in the previous issues. I liked the opening scene between Carl and Lydia (view spoiler)[where he tells her that he killed that serial killer kid a few years back. I'm almost up to that part in the trades, but I thought I read online that he never told anyone about that, and he says he told Andrea after All Out War (hide spoiler)] . Kirkman explained that part in the letters page in the back. There's basically no violence in this issue, none of the survivors even have to take down a single zombie. But that's cool with me. I love a good action scene, but I don't think you have to have violence in every issue of The Walking Dead. One of the major things that I think makes The Walking Dead so good is the interesting characters. I really liked that scene between Maggie and Rick. I knew something like that was going to happen. Which brings me to something that I will never stop complaining about as long as this comic book is around. I DO NOT LIKE THE WHOLE NEGAN REDEMPTION THING AT ALL!!! I hate it. I really hope that does not happen in the TV show. I don't get what Rober Kirkman's thing is with Negan, and why other people like him now. Yeah, okay....I suppose he's a little different than The Governor was. But why do people like him now? Cause he makes you laugh?? Cause he wears cool clothes and looks like Henry Rollins? Fuck him! Sick son of a bitch should pay for what he did!!! Of course, I feel like a hypocrite cause I'm going to read the collected hardcover Negan backstory when it comes out in October. Actually I don't think that makes me a hypocrite, cause if DC did the same thing with the Joker I would read it (although there should never be a Joker origin story...ever! ). And if you feel the same way about Negan as I do, then you love the way this issue ended (view spoiler)[I hope Maggie gets her revenge on "that monster" who beat her husband's head in with a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire (hide spoiler)] . So that's it, I almost gave it four stars instead of five just because I loved all the different confrontational parts in here (except the one with Dwight and Rick). I can't wait for # 170 next month!

Even though I still don't trust and can't stand Lydia, I do like the Carl told her the truth about what went down with Billy and Ben. I wonder if this is a parallel to the two young girl's on the show. The blonde girl's that Carol tried to raise. Lizzie and her sister, I think it was? I like how he told Lydia the story of how he finally began to call Andrea, "Mom". Moving on to Rick and Maggie. I like how he told Lydia the story of how he finally began to call Andrea, "Mom". Moving on to Rick and Maggie. I'm glad that he told her that he decided to free Negan, and that he was going to kick him out of the community. I don't blame Maggie one bit for being furious. Glenn was awesome, and kind and he died in such a horrible way. I mean, I know that this is just a comic and they're just characters in the comic, but Glenn was my favorite character in both the comic and show. As I'm sure that I've stated many times before, I don't trust the people, or well, person that Eugene is talking to on the radio. I can't help but feel like it's going to be one of the Whisperer's people, trying to cause trouble for the community. So, Rick talked to the woman that Eugene's been talking to on the radio, Stephanie. I don't trust this plan that they came up with, one bit. Rick was right when he said, that sending a small group of his people would have them be vulnerable. I feel like they'd be walking into a trap. As for Dwight and Rick's conversation, I'm starting to think that Dwight's not taking Sherry's death as well as everyone seems to think. Seems to me like he's going to try and attack Rick at any moment, and is just barely keeping himself from doing so. Maggie and Carl's conversation made me sad. The fact that Carl can't be around his father or even be in his home, is terrible. I mean, I get that he's obviously upset about losing his mother figure, but still. I think it's terrible that he wants to leave his father. The conversation between Rick and Jesus went better than I thought it would. When Jesus said that he wanted to stay and not go on the trip because he wanted to be there with Aaron, and didn't want Aaron to go, either, I thought that Rick was going to insist one or both of them go. Yikes, that whole conversation between Rick and Dwight was ugly. And I have a feeling that things are going to get much much worse. I was hoping that Dwight would come to see reason. Not right away, of course, he's still mourning that moron, Sherry, but I hope he eventually sees sense. Rick and Michonne's whole conversation felt like just a time passer, to get to the next set of issues. He asked her to stay and help take care of the community, and she basically said, screw you, I'm going anyway. Rick and Carl's conversation needed to happen, but it still makes me sad. It's like Rick is losing everything all at once, now. First, he lost Lori, to Shane and then death. Then, he lost Andrea to death, and now Carl's leaving to go help rebuild the Hilltop. All I can say for Negan and Dwight's conversation, is that I'm glad Negan left. The guy's fucking insane and should go and take his crazy ass elsewhere and bother someone else. I liked Maggie and Michonne's conversation. Sure, I wish that it had been more at ease and friendly, but it is what it is. And I agree with Maggie, that Michonne shouldn't be tempting fate. The smallest thing could lead to someone dying. I don't know how I feel about Maggie ordering Dante to keep an eye on Negan. First off, I feel like she's just using the guy since she knows he has feelings for her. And secondly and finally, I don't think that Negan would take kindly to being followed. I think he would kill Dante. Just saying. Anyway, that's my opinion. Another great issue.

How to hook Nicole from the very first page: Open with Carl. With, sad, CRYING CARL. I love Carl. Been my favourite character a long time. I just want to give him a hug. Poor little guy. Anyway, my point being, opening with Carl's scene (view spoiler)[ at Andrea's grave (SOB) (hide spoiler)] had me invested and immersed right away. It was a great scene, very emotional, and added even more depth to the characters and the situation. Some nice character moments and dialogue that were good on their own but also drew the plot forward, I really love that! As for the individual plot points; I'm not really sure how I feel about where Dwight's arc is heading. I'm definitely curious to see how it plays out, but do I like it...ehh. I'll give it time. FINALLY something happening with Eugene's radio. Great story potential there, and I'm glad to see Michonne having a role in it too. The stuff with Maggie...oooh hohohoh I cannot wait to see where that goes. Negan. Love Negan. What are you doing Negan? I do hope we get to see him regularly. Looking forward to next issue!

Building up I found this issue interesting because of a few reasons. It's about time we see what this Ohio group is about. I'm really looking forward to their debut. I don't know if I can trust them because it's almost time for another bad guy to enter the story. Speaking of bad guys, the dynamic between Maggie and Negan cannot end well. I can easily see her killing him or getting Dante to do it out of pure hatred for the man. Also the tension between Rick and Dwight was interesting. Dwight is still angry with Rick over the death of Sherry. Rick is still mourning the loss of Andrea. Will their grief keep them strong or tear them all apart? This issue was pretty solid. Not much in the way of action, but there is a lot of transitioning going on. The tension between Rick and Dwight is escalating and Maggie is out for blood where Negan is concerned. Honestly not sure who would win in either match up but it is definitely getting interesting. The biggest story in this arc however i Dwight is still angry with Rick over the death of Sherry. I liked hearing Carl talk about the time he killed one of the twins, as well as when he started calling Andrea "Mom." It felt like a very human moment for him. And while I do think it's too early to think it wise to let Negan loose, I like that someone will be keeping watch on him. And while I can understand Dwight's behavior, it's still a bit bothersome that he's acting how he is. I'm also not so sure about Rick comparing himself to other people who've killed spouses. The Walking Dead #169 is yet another stellar entry in this long running series, with Andrea’s death still having an affect on our characters. The issue also starts to make some major leaps with the community Eugene has been speaking to, with there being some tense developments elsewhere also. Sad times and reflection for some, bitterness and anger from others. Well, one specific other who now has some big ideas... Carl actually says some nice things. I am still bummed out by the loss of XXXXXXXX 😫 But keen to see where this possible new encounter leads.
