This book caught me up from the beginning but left my mouth hung wide open in the end. I wish it was longer but I figure that's why there is a part 2. On to the next in the series. I have to know what is going to happen. Left me on edge................

I must say I enjoyed reading this story. It's a story of love, loyalty and knowing when to get out of the game. Kayla is a young teen who takes on motherly duties to her 2 younger siblings while trying to juggle being a regular teen in love. This book was well written & tells the tale that much of society tend to turn a blind eye too. Can't wait to see where Tamicka takes the lives of the characters next. Not a boss quite yet This is a novella or serial. Not a novel. And I can say Kayla is making boss moves by taking care of her siblings without being asked, with no help from her mother. Hopefully she can start making some better life decisions in the future. It sounds like she wants to be an investigator because she's out here trying to solve crimes after boo got shot. An editor or two to read over the dialogue wouldn't hurt. (Wave and Waive) it wouldn't have bugged me usually but the continued m Not a boss quite yet This is a novella or serial. Not a novel. Attention keeper For the most part this book kept my attention. I love the relationship Kayla has with her younger siblings. The way mother and daughter talked to each other, I didn't like because regardless, that's still her mom. Something is definitely going on with Marcus....but my journey stops here with this series. I think there are 4 more books to follow. Getting burned out with books that aren't stand alone...

Awesome I can't wait to read part 2... Kayla stepped up as a big sibling as well as trying to stand by her man! I download the entire series, I can't wait to see what Kayla man got himself into..... Unfortunately its a lot of women out here like Kayla's mother, it takes real love patients and understanding for an older sibling to step up and be the adult and take care of their younger siblings.

Too Short I feel like this was too short for a review. It was like an intro to something. The characters were presented okay but I didn't get enough of them for an opinion. Kayla is forced to take on the mother role to her brother and sister while her mother is out doing her. Kayla's boyfriend has secrets that may lead to her getting hurt or killed. The story was just okay but needs more drama and action. I wasn't left wanting more in the end.

Decent Read Honestly, this isn't the typical hood story. Of course, you have the drug world, poor parenting, and bad choices represented. What really got me is this young girl dedicating herself to taking care of her younger siblings and not taking steps to become independent herself. So through all the other drama sure to take place as this story progresses in the following book /books, I hope she finds herself and her drive to be her best for herself and her siblings.

Great start I started reading this story and I can honestly say it s a great start for this series. The story starts off with you getting to know about Marcus and Kayla and their relationship. But as you continue things happen that could test their love for each other. Definitely a good pace read that will leave you ready for part 2 to find out what happens next.

Hmmm.... I like the book but I'm not sure if the title fits. The book was mostly about Kayla, Marcus, and Kayla's mom. I'm sure the second book will fill in the blanks about the boss.

I am rating this between 3 and 4 stars. Kayla is either very naive or stupid. I applaud her wanting to remain behind to keep an eye on her younger brother and sister. Yet, she has to know that Marcus is doing something shady. Also, she needs to find a job to call the shots.

Very short but a good read The full story is not outlined in the book. This is frustrating because I'm order to read the full story you have to buy at least 3 more books which I am not willing to do. I'm all for a sequel but finish the first book first.

Higgins This was my first book written by Higgins. So the book was good but not long enough. The characters were interesting. Just not enough back story about them. Maybe the next book will have more. Thanks

The storyline is pretty good but so many typos. Kept restating things over and over; however, I want to know why someone shot up Marcus' place

I read this book because I was a fan of this author's other series, but this book was way too short for my test. The writing is still good as was expected, but nothing that transpired pointed to anything that had to do with a boss because it was so short, that we never even got to the part of who the boss is or what it has to do with a boss. I'm all for series and everything, but at least make the installment long enough to get to the point where the title makes sense. I see this is a 5 part ser I read this book because I was a fan of this author's other series, but this book was way too short for my test.
