Follow Echo Rose, a journalist, as she helps catch a serial killer in America. Although this is the 4th novel in the series, it can be read as a standalone. I have not read any books by Thomas Fincham before and I was not put at a disadvantage. Thomas’s writing style is different to most authors of crime thrillers. He writes in a crisp tabloid style, that gets all the content across clearly and quickly. The Rose Water is easy reading with very short chapters and paragraphs. It is great if you want to read a book in small, short snatches. All the elements of a good story are in The Rose Water. There is a good range of characters, with lots of back story and many subplots that have nothing to do with catching the serial killer. There is an awful lot going on in this book, it is not just the hunt to find the serial killer. I loved all the social commentary thrown into this novel. I also liked all the little bits about people’s job that added great context to this novel. There is also some nice humour and dialogue between the characters. I liked how Echo Rose is not a glamourous bimbo but a woman with a brain and a journalistic lust for the truth behind a story. The plot concerning the serial killer was fair but the joy of this book is all the other subplots running along at the same time. You get the full story in this novel and all the characters are kept busy doing this and that. There are no lazy moments in this novel when characters are on a weekly rest period! I enjoyed reading The Rose Water and although it is not outstanding it is still an entertaining read with no boring bits or padding out of the scenes. I consider The Rose Water to be a GOOD read, so it gets 4 stars from me.

Thanks to the author and publisher for an e-Galley for an honest review.

Rich girl, poor girl, reporter, private eye. What best describes Echo Rose? She is a feisty, charming, intelligent and tenacious young woman who wants nothing more than to be the best she possibly can in her reporting job at a real newspaper. The 4th book in the series, cements this character into the lexicon of crime fiction, and places Thomas Fincham as a voice to be reckoned with. You will soon hear him spoken in the same sense that David Baldacci, James Patterson, Tom Clancy, Robert Ludlam, Michael Crichton are. Characters are well drawn, well developed and complex. (Rose is becoming a more well rounded person for example) and the plot, while becoming more engrossing, does not tip over the line where the plot elements make-up the complete story and take over from the characters. After you have read most novels of this genre, in fact almost any genre, you remember the character – like them or not – before you remember the plots. And if a book is too ‘plot heavy’, you might not remember it at all. Love the commentary about print media and it’s place in modern society. Not overly happy that the editor let a few (not many) minor errors get through to the final edition. Such things as “He could not keep his eyes off of him”. It should be “He could not keep his eyes off him”. In the previous example the of is completely unnecessary. It is, however, becoming increasingly common – more’s the pity. But that is a very minor criticism of another really great Echo Rose Novel.

This book is quite intriguing. I loved how the role of an investigation reporter plays such an important role in the solving of a murder mystery especially since they recognize that it's a dying industry. I thought the characters were well developed and complex which makes the reading of the book so much easier. It's a good story and the whole series is worth your reading time.

Another great read. I absolutely love reading about Echo Rose. My only complaint would be they aren't, long enough or maybe I am so engrossed in the book, I don't want them to end. Can't wait for the next one.

It’s the first I’ve read by this author. 3.5 to 4 star. It was a good read but I agree that there were too many sub-plots & it all seemed too predictable. The ending was complete & not complete at the same time. I certainly didn’t feel thought provoked or ready to rush out & get the next book. It’s the first I’ve read by this author. 3.5 to 4 star. Nice change Ok. Not sappy, no unnecessary violence or sex. Characters one dimensional but they did not need more. The story carried itself.

Good read Good story lines but a lot of time is spent explaining what happened in previous story. Would be better left out and continued as though you've read the previous books.

This started off as a really intriguing read but I did find about halfway through the book it starting to wane a bit and become a little samey with the characters going around the same issues without reeally making a whole lot of progress, and not just in relation to the crime itself but their own personal issues (some of which they just make worse by keeping hidden, or what they think to be hidden). I did like the character of Echo Rose but I did find a few of her decisions/actions didn't fit with the persona that was created for her but I wonder whether this is because this is the fourth in the series and that I've missed a couple of key events. And I really want to know what happened to the girl at the start? She comes in a such a key figure including a bit of back story but then vanishes and never appears again.

I paid nothing to have this book on my Kindle. I have mixed feelings about it. I have to say that I found it compelling and was eager to see what happened next. But the varied plots and crimes that were going on were confusing. And in the first two chapters story lines were set up that were ignored for the remainder of the book. I wonder why. I will probably try another Echo Rose book at some point.

Echo Rose is on the job, looking into a murder with possible serial killer ties. In addition, the newspaper she reports for is cutting back on workers and her job is in jeopardy. Her new romance with fellow reporter, Connor, is going well and she's closer than ever to finding her birth parents. Her life is pretty full. This was a good continuation of Echo's story. Kept me turning the pages and left me looking forward to the next installment.

Book number 4 This was the best. This was an awesome read. Loved it ! It has everything . A little mystery, a little comedy, a little romance, and a lot of suspense... Characters from his others books, reporter Hyder Ali, private eye Callaway, join Echo Rose in this awesome story. I will be reading more of this author's books.

The rose water This is the first I've read by author. I liked the book but felt there was too many side issues such as main character being a reporter and the sandwich are around for them at the moment. The other main character i thought would have been in contact more with her but no????

Murder, cold case and much more After reading this book a second time, I can tell you that the personal story of Echo Rose provides a great backdrop to the story of a serial rapist and murderer. In parallel, you get the story of an unsolved cold case. Prepare to not being able to put your kindle down until the end!

Basis of a good story I read the entire book, although I was minded to leave it at halfway. It was made obvious who the murderer was, and the book read more like a report than a novel. I appreciate the time and great effort that must go in to writing a book, but sadly this style of writing isn't for me. Best wishes for the future though.

The Rose Water This is the last book in this series. I really wish there were more. This was the best series I have read in a long time. I highly recommend this series. The suspense was great. This is a five star series. I hope Thomas Fincham will write more books in this series.
