The first I read in the series was The Diva Haunts The House, and then I could not wait to read the series. Anyone who tells you Libraries don't help sell books is wrong. I bought what I could not get in from the library and then I pre ordered every book Krista Davis put out since. I am grateful that NetGalley has allowed me to read The Diva Cooks Up a Storm in advance of the May 29th release. It felt so great to be back in Old Town and having dinner and a crisis to participate in. Reading the Diva series really does feel like going home or at least going to stay with friends for the week. I loved catching up with the characters and I also loved and was intrigued by the way this mystery unfolded. A secret dinner, a juicy gossip story, a bitter divorce, mysterious death, bees, cupcakes, and so much food! Then there are the love interests, the friends and the situations we simply cannot easily explain. This was such a great read I could not put it down, I had to know who done it! It was not at all who I had pegged either. I also really appreciated the recipes in the book and I feel like I need to write Sophie to ask if it is appropriate to serve her funeral potatoes at our next family dinner? Great story, great series, you will love it!

But not everyone is enjoying the event, Hollis Haberman and his young new wife are in attendance as are his ex-wife and their son. Most of the town has shunned the new bride while remaining friendly with the ex. The next morning the storm is coming closer to Old Town so Sophie heads out for a quick walk but finds Hollis Haberman having some kind of attack in front of his house. EMTs are called and he is rushed to the hospital but he doesn’t survive. It is an unusual death. He has asked for Sophie’s help because he thought he was been poisoned and the police seem to concur but they’re not sure how. Could it have been in the food at the party? or has it built up over time? His young bride is so upset and she is sure she is going to be arrested. Sophie agrees to look into the case herself hoping she doesn’t end up in a storm of trouble herself. I really enjoy these characters, even Natasha. I love the way they come together when someone is in need or when they get together to celebrate. A heavy storm hits Old Town leaving the community without electricity. What does this gang do? The organize a street party so people can cook up or grill the food that would have been ruined by the lack of power to keep it cold. The party also gives the crew to do a little covert investigating. Friendship really blooms within the pages. Poison is a common method of murder in cozy mysteries, but this time the author gives it a unique twist and they added some distinct turns that really opened up the pool of suspects. She kept me guessing right up to her grand reveal. I love when a story diverts my thinking so much that I and the protagonist have our “aha moment” together. The author packs so much into these pages. The pacing and plotting are excellent. The characters are very real and most are very down to earth. The story contains the exact right amount of humor in relation to the drama. Krista Davis is a skilled storyteller with the perfect recipe for her cozy mysteries. I highly recommend this entire series, but if you are new to it, don’t worry, there is plenty of background provided to dive right into this one. Then you can go back and start at the beginning to see all the world building and character development.

This story starts buzzing on page one and is a thrilling flight until you touch down on the final page! Sophie hosts an impromptu backyard party for everyone to use their cold or frozen food before it spoils. I love the laugh-out-loud moments throughout the story—Natasha is like no other domestic diva in her advice to others on how things should be done while Sophie is more laid back. The recurring characters that make this cozy series a favorite are all re-visited here. Author Krista Davis dishes up plenty of hints and clues galore, yet still manages to cleverly disguise the murderer’s identity until she’s ready to give it away. Once all the ingredients for the murder are separated out; it becomes clear who did what and why. It’s such a pleasure to read such a well-written cozy mystery. All I have to do is sit back, and relax, and let the words take me on an adventure. The author includes several delicious sounding recipes for food and drinks for readers to try in their own kitchens. I highly recommend this story and the entire Domestic Diva series. I reviewed a digital ARC provided by NetGalley and Kensington.

This was only the second Diva book that I've read but I absolutely loved it! Krista Davis has an amazing way to weave a really interesting mystery with some history and lots of great characters who could be suspects. Even though I had only read one other book, it didn't take me long to get to know the characters so this could totally be read as a stand alone if anyone wanted to. Although the person who dies would be a bit of a spoiler if you decide to go back and read the other books. I'm still This was only the second Diva book that I've read but I absolutely loved it! I'm still going to read those books since I don't know how many of them this person is in and that doesn't really bother me since they were fairly minor. I did remember the name from the Halloween book though. When a neighbor of Sophie's is afraid he's being poisoned and then he ends up dead, Sophie has to wonder if his trophy wife really did do this as everyone else in town seems to think. She ended up spending time with this wife and really felt like the woman couldn't have killed her husband. Sophie all but told the woman she'd look into things, hopefully without getting herself killed. When another body is found by Sophie and Nina, everyone gets a little more nervous. I loved how even though Sophie has a bestie named Nina, that she's not the only one that tries to solve mysteries with her. Sophie actually had a nice group of friends even including her ex-husband to sit around the dinner table with and discuss the possibilities of who did what. I like that they have a friendly relationship and even share custody of the dog, Daisy. I honestly don't remember a lot about the regulars from the Halloween book but I really do like the character of Francie who seemed to be the oldest of the friends and the voice of reason. And I of course didn't forget about Natasha who really thinks she's a diva and a sort of friendly rival with Sophie and the event planning. Natasha was good for some great comedy relief! There were plenty of suspects and I'm really glad that some of them didn't end up as the killer. I really never guessed it but I had suspicions about someone all along although I wasn't sure why. The show down was delightfully unusual too. As it turned out, two people were actually after Sophie and they were caught. The actual book ending was a lot of fun, friends and neighbors gathered around and another couple of friends made a little love connection! You'll just have to read it and find out. I am eventually going to get through all these books but I just couldn't resist the chance to read this ARC provided by the publisher and NetGalley. I have only read a few books in this series, but I had no problem following and enjoying this story. It might have taken me a bit to sort out the characters, but otherwise, it can be read as a stand alone. In this story, Sophie finds herself investigating the death of one of her neighbors, Hollis. Hollis came to Sophie with fears that he was being poisoned, and it appears that he was right. With a new, much younger wife, a bitter ex-wife, and a teenage son who is having issues with his father due to his remarriage, the suspect list is quite full and keeps growing as the story progresses. The story is full of excellent twists and turns that kept me guessing until the very end. Krista Davis has a way with story-telling. The characters all feel like friends, even Natasha, Sopie's frenemy, and the perpetrator was a huge surprise. The pacing was excellent and the dialogue and scene-setting doesn’t drag. This was an interesting and hard to put down cozy that I found myself reading quite quickly. The publisher, Kensington Books, generously provided me with a copy of this book to read. The opinions stated are my own.

I have loved every single book in the Domestic Diva mystery series, and this is no different. I was so excited to be able to read an ARC from NetGalley, and it did not disappoint. Just a wonderful, wonderful cozy.

I've read all the books in this series & have loved them. I must say that I'm disappointed in this one. It is well-written & has richly detailed characters as always, but I don't feel that Sophie & "the gang" were very nice in this book. They shunned Kelsey and then decided that she was guilty of murder just for being Hollis's second wife. They jumped to conclusions, acted mean and spiteful and made her life miserable. I didn't think this behavior was in the characters that I've grown to love ov I've read all the books in this series & have loved them. I must say that I'm disappointed in this one. With her boyfriend Alex, her ex-boyfriend Wolf, her ex-husband Mars and her great group of friends, Sophie is able to once again put the pieces and clues together to identify the killer, and avoid becoming a victim herself. There was plenty to keep me guessing in terms of the identity of the killer or killers. In the end, Ms. Davis delivered a satisfying mystery wrapped up nicely.

The Diva Cooks Up a Storm by Krista Davis is the eleventh installment in A Domestic Diva Mystery series. Sophie Winston enjoyed dining at an underground restaurant with her friends the night before. She is out walking Daisy when Hollis Haberman staggers from his house and collapses in the street. Sophie Winston enjoyed dining at an underground restaurant with her friends the night before. She is out walking Daisy when Hollis Haberman staggers from his house and collapses in the street. He is struggling to breeze. The police check on his new wife, Kelsey and she is coughing. Later that day, Wolf Fleischman, Criminal Investigator for Alexandria Police Department, informs her that Hollis did not make it. Kelsey is at the top of the suspect list and asks for Sophie to help clear her name. Since approaching storms have called off her beach vacation, Sophie does have time on her hands. Sophie needs to figure out who disliked Hollis Haberman enough to do him in. Then a second person connected to Hollis ends up dead. Can Sophie zero in on the killer before he strikes again? The Diva Cooks Up a Storm is well-written and has a steady pace. Sophie is an engaging main character and there are equally delightful secondary characters. If you are new to the series, you would have a hard time starting with The Diva Cooks Up a Storm. The author introduces a number of people in the beginning and it can be confusing to keep track of them along with their relationships. The author crafted a multi-layered mystery with twists that will surprise many readers. I enjoyed solving this challenging mystery. The underground or pop-up restaurant concept is unique, and I have not encountered it in a book previously. There are many charming cozy moments in the story that include cooking, a library book sale, neighbors helping each other, an impromptu food gathering in the neighborhood, close friends, romance, and cute animals. Recipes are included at the end of the book. At the beginning of each chapter are advice letters with answers provided by Sophie and Natasha. While Natasha’s advice made me chuckle at times, I would not follow her counsel (Sophie is more reliable). The Diva Cooks Up a Storm is an appealing story that will delight cozy mystery readers. I am giving The Diva Cooks Up a Storm 4.5 out of 5 stars.

I know she is a thorn in everyone's side, but in this round, she is mean. And petty. And way worse than she has been in previous outings and that truly bothered me. It was one of the reasons the book didn't go to 5 stars for me - all of Natasha's "helpful hints", her chasing of Jay Charles [and her wanting to "help" him] were mean and snarky and I was disappointed in the direction that the author is taking her. I hope that things clear up in that department by the next book. A storm has hit Old Town and with it a murder or two or three have popped up. While the town is recovering, Sophie and crew are on the hunt for the murderer or is it murderers! Characters are excellently fleshed out to be both relatable, likable and dislikable as the case may be, all entwined in an entertaining plot that keeps you guessing as you try to figure out who the villain is. In an entertaining twist the author has created multiple plausible villains so it isn't a quick, aha moment, but A storm has hit Old Town and with it a murder or two or three have popped up. Luckily recipes are given to us at the ending. So, if you are in the mood for a Coca-Cola Cake and an intricate murder mystery this book is for you. Heck, the entire series is for you!

Krista Davis does it again with another fab installment in her Domestic Diva series! I felt so close to the characters that I might have been right there with them, enjoying coffee and goodies in Sophie’s kitchen while they dished about potential suspects. This one had me lying awake at night analyzing the plot and trying to figure out the killer. I hope this series continues to enjoy its well-deserved longevity.

Sophie can do an elaborate event in her sleep but she doesn’t get to enjoy it as a guest so her friend talks her into a pop up dinner where everything is a secret until the dinner happens. The dinner is going well until Hollis comes in with his very young new wife. The next morning Sophie finds Hollis breathing his last and sets out to find out who would want him dead. An enjoyable store with an added part to each chapter of a etiquette question Sophie answers.

Finally caught up with Sophie and her crew! (I hadn't realized I had missed two of the books!!) I loved this tale with the gang. I like how they all work together and just jump right in. It's the small-town life that I would love! :-) Although, I live near Alexandria and can't see this as believable for there (but what do I know!!). Enjoyable book with a wonderful crew! Reading about them is like catching up with old friends. There were many twists and secrets and it made the book more interesting. This is always a fun series to read and I thoroughly enjoy reading anything by Krista Davis. Can't wait to read more .
