Looking for a quick overview of the Vietnam War? The Trivia Book series has produced another winner here. It’s a little shorter than I would have liked but still covers the major issues and events of the war as well as providing the context within which the fighting began. The things that makes these books stand out, however, are the short vignettes that add humanity to the larger discussions. If you’re curious about this period of history, this is a good way to get introduced to the topic. I re Looking for a quick overview of the Vietnam War? I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This was well researched and well written, and I love O’Neill’s trivia books. I just find myself slightly disappointed with this book because it reads more like a history of the Vietnam War with a few trivia facts, rather than a trivia book about the Vietnam War. That being said, I did learn a lot and I did enjoy it.

I found "The Vietnam War Trivia Book: Fascinating Facts" offering readers a great overview of the war including some history of the U.S.'s involvement during and after WWI and then throughout the 20 year-long war. The authors tried to take a neutral stand when presenting the many facts of this war, but failed to mention the communist death squads who terrorized and killed many innocent civilians on both sides of the DMZ. I like the way the book is formatted and enjoyed the quizes at the end of each of the six chapters. This is easy reading and I would recommend this book be mandatory reading for high school students - giving them much more to learn more about the war than is currently available in today's history classes. Great job! John Podlaski, author "Cherries - A Vietnam War Novel" and "When Can I Stop Running?"

An Ambitious “Big Picture” Synthesis of The Conflict in Vietnam Bill O’Neill takes on an ambitious summary of the second Indochina War in this book. Every bit as informative as his other works on war, the book follows a clear outline of events; from setting the stage with tensions after WWII, to the legacy of the Vietnam War in American Culture today. It would literally take months to gain the amount of information O’Neill condenses into barely more than a 3 hour read. Of course, the quick facts, and the Q & A sessions are here as before. So, you get a fun chance to test yourself. Oddly, I was so absorbed in the details that I only missed one question on all of the quizzes in the book this time. That’s surprising since I definitely knew less about the Vietnam War than I did WWII. I certainly don’t think of this as trivial content. It is more of a summary of history, or a synthesis that brings it all together. And, it is presented chronologically in context. I was very glad to receive a free Audible copy for review purposes, since I really enjoy learning history in such an accessible format as audiobook. And, I highly recommend this book, as well as O’Neill’s other Trivia Books.

Words Written by a NVA sympathizer. He only discusses American crimes and fails to mention, or covers up, communist horrors. He makes heroes out of terrorists and villains out of veterans.

Very interesting read We are both Vietnam-era veterans and found the book to be very interesting with synopsis of the conflict. The book would make a good read for younger students of history.

An Interesting Day in Vietnam Somehow the day they changed the color of the money that the U. S. used in Vietnam, which were called Military Payment Certifcates or MPC's for short, got left out. I thought it was a very unusual day, sometime in 1968.

Bravo! As I am the child of hippies, I was grew up knowing OF the Vietnam War, but I didn't KNOW about it from but one side, & wasn't always sure about the facts I was taught. This book finally put it in a historical perspective that I could understand from all sides. Bravo! Similar to 'War Trivia Book 1", which covered World War 2, this book gives a overview of the events leading up to the war, the players and politics, the main offensives, the reactions abroad, and the ongoing legacy of the war. It is a great, quick, overview for anyone wanting to get a basic understanding of the Vietnam war. The flow is great, allowing readers to build knowledge as they go. It is clear to see how the Vietnam was became such a schamozzle for the USA. Spread throughout the book there is little trivia and strange facts that, while not required to understand the war, add depth to the history. They are the interesting little pieces that make you want to know more, and that you may not see in other history books. O'Neill includes small revision quizzes at the end of each chapter to test yourself and make sure you have picked up the information contained previously. Narration by Derek Newman is good. Clear and easy to follow, he is well paced. Nothing exciting in the narration but good solid, enjoyable work. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.
