Pretty sloppy The prequel was good but I couldn't get through the first chapter with the sloppy writing. Kept getting Jove and the security chief mixed up. Every bit as exciting, intense, and suspenseful as the first book of the series (Book #0)!! Continuous action makes this a real page-turner ... never a dull moment! Story is going strong! Really enjoyed the world-building and the characters. This book is on a shorter side of what I usually read, but it was really worth it! Already reading book 2.

Good apocalypse yarn Good end of world story. A little harsh, but that's the end of the world! Definitely a cliffhanger, well thought out. Good apocalypse yarn Good end of world story. A little harsh, but that's the end of the world! Definitely a cliffhanger, well thought out.

I wasn't as impressed with this book as I was with book zero. What I enjoyed most about book zero was all the chaos that was going on within the city. Once this book transitioned to the mountains it wasn't as entertaining to me. I got excited when they went back into the city for some medication, but the scene was very short. I wish they would have encountered more drama and chaos when they went back, but not too much went on. I'm interested in continuing the series just to see how it ends. Excellent story! I read a lot of disaster, prepped, and survival fiction, plus books on the psychology of survival. This series is extra special because the author has made an effort on character development. The plot is somewhat realistic (getting out of Denver was way too easy.). Overall I enjoyed the book 0 and book 1very much. I am eager to read book 2!

I really like the first book (book 0) but struggled a bit with this. The Camp seemed very much in a bubble and not really all that well prepared for a post-apocalyptic scenario where there would have been antagonists that wanted their resources. There was a lot of focus on the interpersonal relationship of three of them. One of them is eliminated and it felt like he was an inconvenience to the story. It did have quite an ending and cliff hanger. I would read the next book to find out what happen I really like the first book (book 0) but struggled a bit with this. The first of the books by Alexandria Clarke I've read I enjoyed the story and look forward to reading the next book. There is a download that apparently is background for this book, but the download link did not work for me. Despite missing the background information, I had no difficulty understanding the setting, circumstances, and situatiom. The follow on book will be my next read. there were really no surprises here though I like the setting (mountains outside of Denver). The cast of characters was a little too simplistic but it was left hanging and there is a mystery of what happened to the main character's father. Big disaster, cities bad, flee to the mountains and survivors already have established community. Father disappeared years ago. What next? I'll read the next one just to find out. there were really no surprises here though I like the setting (mountains outside of Denver). Pretty good read! Exciting!! 4 stars, as while the story is good and exciting, the author seemed to have made a mix up between Ludo and Jove in the first chapter. Different and a bit further away from typical books of this genre. Waiting for the next book!!

Book 1 Enjoyed the book. A little predictable but that was okay. All of the characters, the author personalized them to the extent you either liked or really found them annoying. The Mason men I wanted to strangle them from the beginning. Looking forward to reading Part 2.

Thrilling Read! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel and the one prior to this. The characters were believable, and the plot was well-defined and informative. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a thrilling story that could possibly happen in the future.

Lemmed it about a quarter of the way through. Didn't believe any of the characters, also, given how the women were described, I doubt the author is actually a woman. I always enjoy these types of books. All I can say is that people have got to start toughening up because this may end up being a reality and so many people are going o be in bad shape.

A little over the top as far as apocalyptic fiction goes ... the woman's skills as a radio host are not theatrical but deadly, and I feel the author took it way too far a lot of the times. The book never gripped me - where was the panic that should have surfaced right after the EMP occurred? The neurotic people took months to show up. And I never had any sense of time passing, or how much had passed.
