Rule, book 3 of 3. The conclusion to alleged mobster Antonio Spinelli & Theresa Drazen’s songs of Corruption! “There are too many ways to die.” Songs of Corruption is the whirlwind saga of alleged mobster Antonio Spinelli and Theresa Drazen. It’s a sequel series to Songs of Submission and Songs of Perdition and thus most enjoyed if read after and in order: Book 1: Spin Book 2: Ruin Book 3: Rule In Songs of Corruption book 1 and 2 heiress, socialite, part-time script supervisor and former head of accounting Theresa Drazen, Tink aka Contessa met a man who rocked her world and gave her an excuse to break out of her good-girl-mold. Attorney, business owner and “alleged” mobster, money launderer and murderer Antonio Spinelli, Spin aka Capo wasn’t looking to complicate his life, but Theresa intrigued him. With little in common and much to lose they couldn’t seem to stay away. Story went on to follow Antonio and Theresa as they dealt with their attraction and got entwined with the darker side of Hollywood’s organized crime, corruption and politics until it all imploded… Rule (Book 3) opens up to the aftermath of book 2’s explosive ending. Antonio and Theresa have been through so much yet nothing could have prepared them for the battles ahead. It’s a raise against time with traitors, villains and enemies plotting to destroy them with family and friends looking on powerless to help. Follow them, in their against-all-odd’s love, as they set out to rule their future tainted by their pasts in a high-stakes game of cut-throat politics colliding with ruthless organized crime for Songs of Corruption. Antonio Spinelli, Spin aka Capo stole my heart and it was my pleasure to the see him shaped by his youth and past adapting to his circumstance to become the man he needs to be. Eight words to describe Antonio: Captivating, loyal, commanding, conflicted, enigmatic, elusive, possessive and ruthless. “He paused there, eyes half lidded with pleasure, and pulled out slowly. “All of me.” Theresa Drazen, Tink aka Contessa is coming full circle with her past present and future. Eight words to describe Theresa: Poised, compassionate, smart, ambitious, loyal, gutsy, restless and graceful. “I trusted him to protect me, but not to protect himself for my sake?” Rule blew me away with its intensity and complexity. It’s full circle on so many levels I am utterly speechless. It offers the very best of sex, danger, intrigue, angst and suspense. Be prepared not to get everything wrapped up in a pretty bow, yet the ending was all them, full circle, songs of perfection. Effortless storytelling! Breathtaking plot! Intense sex scenes! Larger-than-life Antonio Spinelli! Brilliant ending! Epic saga! “Yet I sat on a throne before a kingdom of possibilities.” *** Hero rating: 5+ stars Heroine rating: 4 stars Sexual tension rating: 5 stars Sex scenes rating: 5 stars Sex scenes frequency: 5 stars Plot rating: 5 stars Dialogue rating: 5 stars Storytelling rating: 5 stars Story ending rating: 4.5 stars Book editing rating (5 = no edits spotted): N/A, ARC ************************************************ Overall rating: 5 stars Would I recommend this series: Yes. There are heart stopping moments, moments I could hardly believe... I thought I knew where this story may go, I didn't think it'd hit me the way it did with emotional tears. The prose is lyrical and poetic with a heartbreaking aura. The sheer quality of the writing, the multifaceted characters and the execution of the story arc simply blew me away as it tore through my emotions at a heady pace. RULE is exciting, passionate, intense, gripping and all consuming. The protagonists exude a fierce passion in their erotic endeavours and use it as a vessel for their feelings, their anger, their pain, their hurt and it's so wonderful to read. I felt their craziness and sexual hunger for each other – one cannot function without the other and this story explores what happens when the crazy really takes hold. Theresa shines brightly in Rule, her persona, confidence and courage have developed throughout the series resulting in a formidable character with sass, self awareness, empathy and understanding. Antonio is protective, passionate, powerful and honourable, a man of integrity who has the capacity to love fiercely. In Rule, the final part of the Corruption series, his past resurfaces in a way even he had never thought possible and for the reader this plot devise adds another layer of angst that’s gripping and enhances the unknown in terms of where the story will take us. Theresa and Antonio have an intense connection. Their respect for each other is immense; their need to do the best for each other, to protect each other is awe inspiring. The love they show and their passion for each other's survival, at any cost is captivating and heartbreaking all at the same time. Their interaction is powerful – the ebb and flow of their dialogue and inner monologue, breathtaking. The plethora of characters all play a part in the intricate plot that never once left me perplexed in its complexities. I began to like a secondary character that I never thought possible and my love for Theresa and Antonio grew exponentially. The events happen along-side the climax of the Submission series so if you’re a fan of Monica and Jonathan this element will undoubtedly touch your heart. Rule confronts with full force the issue of where they belong in the world, it defines some of their inner turmoil and is a pivotal part in the arc of the story, along with other layers of angst entwined into whether or not they can survive in a world where perception suggests they don't belong anywhere together. The corruption series is intricate but the author sprinkles her writing power and masters the complexities effortlessly. The transitions from scene to scene are flawless, the range of emotions exquisite. Every element carries the story forward in some way each scene flowing seamlessly with reason and context depicting the underground world of Anthony and Theresa with a picture perfect quality. The vivid writing had me in the moments with them, feeling their pain, their love and their hurt. I felt my adrenaline pumping and my heart rate soar as I read the fate of the characters and basked in a crescendo of angst. It's emotional, INTENSE, exciting and EPIC! I was addicted to RULE from beginning to end and will love this story forever. NOTE: Rule is told from the dual perspective of the protagonists and is the THIRD and FINAL part of the Corruption Series. A series which should be read in order. My thoughts: Contessa: I’ve liked Theresa Drazen from day one and to see her grow and transform through this series into such a formidable character with strength, allure, confidence, love and compassion was such a beautiful thing. CD Reiss: What a goddess of the written word! She has truly crafted a phenomenal love story amidst the clutches of the mafia and the entanglements of the Drazen clan. Both Antonio and Theresa are such memorable characters and their love, their fierce passion and protection of each other was palpable and contagious. Antonio: My Capo, my Spin... what a truly magnificent male character. There are only truly a few mob men that I'd kill for and willing embrace Omertà as my way...Antonio Spinelli is at the top...he is why I totally understand all that Theresa does. "He pulled back, and I drank in the lines of his face, the texture of stubble on his cheeks, the espresso of his eyes." “A warrior. A king. My capo, always, always, always.” Theresa and Antonio's passion was like no other. Their bond was perfect , their thoughts and words were potent and poetic , and their undying commitment and love was simply phenomenal!!! “I want what I love, and I love what I want. What I want is you. You came to me as a lady and now you are a queen. I’ve never met a woman like you. I don’t even deserve you, but I have you. And having you, I’m not giving you up…Your world is my world. Our world.” Overall, this was Overwhelming. Out-of-this-world. Outstanding ! I will read this again in its entirety and I just know that it’ll rock my world all over again. "Ti voglio bene, Theresa. Ti amerò sempre. Fino alla fine dei miei giorni.” This was a Buddy Read with the Canaries! For more reviews and blog posts.

Rule is the explosive conclusion to the Songs of Corruption Series; it brings us the stunning conclusion to the story of Antonio Spinelli and Theresa Drazen. One a mob boss the other, a woman of class and high society. On the heels of Antonio’s betrayal to Donna Maria and his escape from marrying Irene, they flee. Only to be brought back to Los Angeles when Jonathan, Theresa’s brother is hospitalized. But it’s not just about getting them back over the border and safely to the hospital. It’s Rule is the explosive conclusion to the Songs of Corruption Series; it brings us the stunning conclusion to the story of Antonio Spinelli and Theresa Drazen. It’s about keeping themselves alive now that they both have prices on their head. They both want a life filled with forevers, but for these two, they first need to escape the life that doesn’t allow you to just walk away. It’s been a week since I read this. A week filled with books that barely held my attention. Life that just stopped because this book was all I could think about. There is no way I can gather my thoughts enough for this review to do this book justice. Christine delivered. From the very first word until the last page, I felt like I was holding my breath. Absolutely stunning. I cried. I cried. And I fucking cried. For every moment that Theresa made me smile or laugh, Antonio reached into my chest and pulled my heart out. She was the levity and he was just... EVERYTHING. There was so much emotion in his actions, his words; that I could not help but feel every single thing. Like hard to explain I was twisted in knots and scared to death. I was excited to read this but at the same time I did not want to even start it. I had ideas of how this story needed to end, how I needed it to end and I questioned everything I thought as I fell deeper into this story. Every thought was taken, turned inside out and shoved back into my mind. There are books out there that you love. Books you can read over and over again, and then there are books that can’t live without. Songs of Corruption is a series I cannot live without. Christine’s best work is contained within this series. The highs, the lows and the everything-in-betweens, it was pure grit and pure beauty. And our Capo. I know that Jonathan is a hard act to follow, but with Antonio, he’s just in a league of his own. Such a powerful character that held you captive as you manically flipped through these pages. He wasn’t this fictional character, these words were his breaths, his heartbeat. You felt him. In the tightness of his jaw, the tick. The pulsating need in which he took Theresa. It was all power. And life spun from the words on these pages. I felt him to my core and I loved him. Theresa’s progression from the reserved – classy lady to the tough as nails, take no prisoners – woman was a joy to experience. And like with all of the heroines that Christine deliverers, there is not one weak spot in her spine. A woman of grace, class and who will fight for what matters most. From the woman we met in the club all those months ago. The one that would blush and clutch her pearls at the brutality of this man’s words, she turned. She grew and she became a queen. She learned and owned her mind and her will and she ruled. This author, this series, her books. Read them. All of them. The writing is what book lover’s dreams are made of. You will not find another author who can craft an erotic, suspenseful romance that speaks to you the way her words do. A story that captivates you. The beauty in the structure of her stories, the poetry in her words and the brush she paints the scene with. Erotica, suspense, romance... this is not what this is. This is art. This is beautiful. This is.... this just can’t be explained without just shoving a book into your hands and seeing for yourself. The Corruption Series Book Three Rule Pre-order Extra! They made my heart beat faster as they planned and raced to save and protect each other. The action scenes were pulse pounding. This I LOVED and I crave in this type of read. There were a few twist that knocked me for a loop. I was constantly wondering just what was going to happen next. The ending? SPECTACULAR! LOVED the epilogue, it was PERFECTION! The journey of these two characters, Antonio and Theresa, allowed us to be the fly on the wall of unbelievable upheaval in both of their lives...it was impossible to stop. Allowed to be without judgement... for their world was all that mattered to them in the end....and by accomplishing what they needed...somehow the impossible happened. There are specific moments in this book which just nailed me. I was there on that country road and felt the love and caring between these two. It was during these moments and the last third of the book which gave me the feelings of what C.D. Reiss brings. What I felt most was perseverance... the need to find the true ending for this couple. 5+++++ Stars I finished reading Rule and I was perfectly at peace. I knew that when I started the book I would be taken on a journey. A journey that I knew would have highs and lows, joys and sorrows, and life and death. I wasn’t sure what would happen but I was prepared for #LiveTogether or #DieTogether. RULE is the ending of the journey of Antonio Spinelli and Theresa Drazen. They were the unlikely pair who came together, despite the odds, and loved each other with the greatest of passion. The trials and tribulations that surfaced in this book only intensified the commitment and love they had for one another. The fierceness to protect each other, no matter the cost, was primal and effervescent. Their love story was of epic proportions. I will say that while reading I was completely absorbed into the story. There were times I feared turning the page but I always wished I had more hours in the day to just read. Their story raked me over the coals. My heart ached for these two. There were too many circumstances to think they would come out unscathed. With each chapter, the fear would envelope me……..how could Antonio and Theresa survive the mess created? This book rode my emotions full throttle. From the opening page to the very last- I loved every minute of the hellish rollercoaster ride. There were times when I couldn’t breathe, I had to close my eyes, and let the tears flow. But then there were times when I reveled in the love and commitment that Antonio and Theresa showed to one another. It made me smile and my heart swell. I know I haven’t really told you a lot of what happens in the book, I prefer you enjoy every minute without knowing even the littlest of information. There happens to be many surprises in the book and they should unfold as you read the book, not as you read a review. What I will say………………there was an Epilogue and it was PERFECT, it was BEAUTIFUL, it was HEARTFELT, it was MOVING, and I felt WHOLE. Christine Reiss writes words that penetrate your soul, your mind, and your heart. I really believe that everyone should read her books. Her words are visually explosive and have a lyrical and poetic way about them. She creates layers upon layers of depth in her characters, she makes you feel with every emotion under the sun and she has a magical gift of storytelling. If you haven’t read this series, here is what I will tell you…… The Corruption Series is not your usual love story but it is a love story worth reading. It’s not pretty and whimsical, it’s gritty and explosive. The coming together of two entirely different worlds because the heart wants what the heart wants. They should steer clear of one another but fate has other ideas. Their desire and lust for one another are combustible and erotic. The world wanted to take them down, but with love, desire, trust, and commitment…….. Antonio and Theresa would SPIN, they would RUIN and eventually they would RULE . The Corruption Series should be read by all. If you haven't read RUIN, I caution you to not read further in my review as there's mild plot spoilers for that book. RULE takes the reader on a roller-coaster ride of events following the wedding explosion. Antonio and Theresa are missing, feared dead within the tunnels beneath LA. Daniel vows to get answers...to save her if she's possibly alive. He drove her into Antonio's arms with his betrayal and if he has to lose his incumbent seat in the Mayor's office saving her, he will do it. Donna Maria Carloni, head of the Sicilian mafia of LA, is out for vengeance against Antonio...if he's alive he won't be for long... Of the three Songs of Corruption novels, RULE was most suspenseful for me. There's a huge plot revelation that I had no clue of prior and this is very much a central focus in the book. Antonio and Theresa remain a steadfast team to stay alive amidst the threats that lurk at every dark corner. There's huge bounties for both their heads. Can Antonio restore order in his Capo kingdom and still remain alive? Truths come out in that period of "being dead." Can their relationship survive the fallout? Will they physically survive to find out? Theresa Drazen, from day one, has accepted Antonio Spinelli in all his outlaw Capo ways. Antonio knows he's bad for her; it risks her life just being involved with him but their love is polarizing. As much as he tries to walk away, to free her, he just can't. She understands him. And as much as walking away can protect her, she needs his protection as well. The woman has no fear and I think Antonio fears for her safety BECAUSE of that. She doesn't fear him, accepts him, cripples him in his love for her. "That’s the idea of who I am. I want a life with you, because you accept me. All of me. I am whole with you. Only you.” Reiss constructs a flawless canvas of underground LA mafia corruption. With each twist and turn the reader anxiously anticipates the next shooter lurking in the shadows. Her writing style is artistic and beautifully poetic. Antonio does not fail to exhibit his dominant Capo prowess with Theresa. Didn't seem anything kept that man's libido at bay. Life on the line need to run versus balls-to-the-wall sex with his Contessa...his Contessa always won. She was his addiction and it very well might kill one of them or both... Reiss captured me as a loyal reader with her Songs of Submission Series and I do have to admit I cherished every tiny snippet of this plotline that brought us back to Jonathan Drazen- those life-on-the-line times in Sequoia Hospital with him waiting to die for his heart transplant. The love story within the SoS series will never be surpassed for me. Or at least it hasn't thus far. Although I truly enjoyed Theresa and Antonio, I didn't feel their love in the pit of my stomach like I did SoS. I'm a sucker for angst though, and let me say, the last few chapters in RULE connected me to the love story that is Antonio and Theresa. Albeit gritty, animalistic, and everything corrupt...it's a love story at that. This quote by Antonio completely captures their relationship for me.... And all-around great conclusion to the Songs of Corruption Series. Bravo! Looking forward to more from the Drazen clan. Now where are these bonus scenes of Jonathan and Rachel? ***RULE is book three within the Songs of Corruption Series. It is NOT to be read as a standalone. It is a spin-off series of the Songs of Submission Series and I'd highly recommend starting with that series first. Because it is awesome. ***Quotes/teasers taken from pre-published copy and may change in the finished product. Advanced copy received by author in exchange for my HONEST review.

A terrific “we live together or we die together” 5 ++ Stars story! Pledge opened. What a trip this whole series was!! The writing style of Christine Reiss is flawless. Theresa and Antonio’s story was impeccably mapped out. The writing style of Christine Reiss is flawless. Theresa and Antonio’s story was impeccably mapped out. This book shows us how far two persons from a different world are prepared to go for true love, how many sacrifices they are willing to make, and how far they would derail from their own moral compass just to make sure they never lose that love. Sometimes love is unconventional and it breaks all the rules and blurs all the lines. While the story remains action-packed from beginning to end, this is ultimately a beautiful heart-warming love story capable of surviving against all odds. C.D Reiss delivered once more a truly un-puttable down and well-rounded story that made me laugh, cry, swoon and tingle all over. I loved it, loved every minute of it. And did I mention that it is HOT as hell…? So brace yourselves because this book will rock your world! Pledge closed. "I prayed God would forgive me for loving her, and feared only the devil would answer." "I kissed Antonio so he wouldn’t be able to look in my eyes and see what was broken and what was whole. He owned me with his lips, protected me and told me I was worth saving when I felt less than worthy. I loved him for trying, for telling me how precious I was without saying a word. I wanted another hour with him, so he could fuck me so hard I became the human he thought I was."

CD Reiss did not disappoint. She overwhelmed me more than once. She frustrated the hell out me. She had me drinking wine and cursing like a sailor. But she never let me down. Spin was NEVER going to be “light.” His love, while profound and brutal was beyond amazing. There was never a woman more made for this man. "That’s the idea of who I am. I want a life with you, because you accept me. All of me. I am whole with you. Only you.” Truly a fantastic series start to finish. For those lovers of angst and passion, Spin and Theresa will captivate you. Emotional rollercoaster of epic proportions. I fell hard for this couple from the very beginning and it was so amazing to see the growth. As Spin opened his heart he found a true partner who was unafraid of his being. Theresa was no submissive. In her love for a man she found a strength and drive never known before… “Some things are in the stars. I was meant to protect you. And you were meant to rule.”

In the past, Antonio always knew what to do in every situation, but now he must recalculate his every move to protect his empire and family. Likewise, Theresa comes to the realization that her family rearing has basically groomed her for a certain lifestyle, but the question is whether she can rise to the occasion. “Some things are in the stars. I was meant to protect you. And you were meant to rule.” Additionally, details about Antonio’s past are revealed which only complicate his path. Who should he protect? Where does his loyalty lay? Who should have his heart and soul? I certainly did not expect a particular detail to appear and it added to the complexity of Antonio’s dilemma. For me, it just doesn’t get much better than Antonio Spinelli as a Capo. He has a combination of old-country chivalry while still offering his heart and soul as an equal to his queen. It certainly doesn’t hurt that his sex appeal sets me afire either!! Theresa is such a great match for Antonio, as she is his inspiration to be a better man. “Your body is mine. He kneeled in front of me, kissing my belly and the triangle where my legs met, slipping my pants down as he went. I’m going to do what I want with it. Trust that I want what’s right for it.” This plot is tightly woven with action and nail-biting suspense. As usual, C.D. delivers an incredibly heart pounding story with characters that transcend the pages. I will miss Antonio and Theresa but hope to meet them again in future books about the infamous Drazen family! #livetogether #dietogether Note: Songs of Corruption Series should be read in order:

♦ 5 "Come vuoi tu, Contessa" Stars! ♦ First of all, let me inform all of you that the review will be about the whole Songs of Corruption series (book 1 Spin, book 2 Ruin and book 3 Rule) because I find it easier for me (and for you, as well) when it is all around the same topic and the same couple. This series is written by the amazing C. D. Reiss (the author of Songs of Submission series) and this could be considered like a spin-off because this is the story of Theresa Drazen a.k.a Contessa ( ♦ 5 "Come vuoi tu, Contessa" Stars! D. Reiss (the author of Songs of Submission series) and this could be considered like a spin-off because this is the story of Theresa Drazen a.k.a Contessa (the sister of the smokin' Jonathan Drazen) and the mob leader Antonio Spinelli a.k.a Capo. There are a lot of things to talk about because this was definitely an emotional roller coaster: this series is full of ups and downs and many surprises during the reading. There's love, angst, sadness, violence, impotence.. Obviously all because our main character is a (HOT) mob boss who is dealing with so much stuff (bad stuff) and Theresa seems to be his only escape and moment of happiness. “What if you die from loving me?” “What if I die from not loving you?” I have seen this two characters grow and change and, let me tell you, it was delightful because both of them are so much stronger when they are together. There are prepared for everything (even though, in Rule there is one fuc'king surprise that left me like.. OMG this isn't happening) and they are disposed or to "live" or "die together". Moreover, this is not your typical erotic romance. C. D. Reiss decided to introduce the topic of corruption in Hollywood and she does a fabulous work portraying it. And as always, she gives her readers a beautiful love story, which sometimes seems it will not have a good ending, but that is not the case. I was practically in tears by the end, the waiting OMG the waiting (you will understand what I mean if you read it ;)). “I want what I love, and I love what I want. What I want is you. You came to me as a lady and now you are a queen. I’ve never met a woman like you. I don’t even deserve you, but I have you. And having you, I’m not giving you up. Not for an old promise I made when I was a boy. Not for a place that rejects me. Not for a family that won’t have you. Your world is my world. Our world.” So, my rating for Rule is 5 STARS because I loved to read the end (or beggining) of Antonio and Theresa's love story. It was beautifully done! And my rating as in for the whole Songs of Corruption is 4.5 STARS because, even though I loved these books, sometimes I think it was too much for me (some situations are really REALLY fucked up, people). However, if you like romance and you want to read a different twist on it, this series clearly needs to be in your list! :D CHECK OUT MY BLOG HERE:

A HELLA sexy, pulse-pounding good time! Fans of the series. Fans of CD Reiss. THIS BOOK is EVERYTHING you thought it would be and MORE! You may love Capo. You may hate Capo. It doesn't matter, because either way Capo makes you FEEL. I've never known a more epic kind of love than Theresa and Antonio's love. It's intense. It's passionate. It's destructive. It's brutal. It's THEIRS. "You're mine. You'll always be mine. We live together, or we die together. There is nothing in between." See what I mean? Totally intense and coming from the delicious and enticing mouth of Capo, incredibly sexy! I was SO damn proud of Theresa in this last book. She stepped up and did what she had to do. She is a ride or die bitch and no one will take her Capo away from her, not even Capo himself. A promise was made in the past. A promise that could destroy their future. When Theresa understands that, she becomes the bigger woman and holds steady to her own rules. There were a few moments where I didn't know which way Reiss was going to take this story. I was scared, biting my nails, and holding my breath. When the angst, suspense, and beauty came to an end, I could finally take a full breath. Only then, did I continue to bask in the glory of perfection of CD Reiss' writing. Every book she releases is SO close to perfection and leads me to believe she can write anything and I would fall in love. She impresses me with every word written. RULE was a devastatingly beautiful love story that will ALWAYS be in my heart. Theresa and Antonio's love is what I will ALWAYS reach for. *Gifted copy provided by the author in exchange for an honest review*

EPIC ending to an EPIC series! The writing is flawless. The plot is twisted and unforgiving. The characters are raw and passionate. The love story is beautiful!! I knew some shit had to go down for this to end, and I tried to prepare myself, but it was still so overwhelming the way the author laid it out. This is no ordinary book! They fight for their families and honor. Their strength together is amazing. Their individual internal growth and dialogue brought me to tears and laughter throughout the whole book. Some of the quotes from this book will stay with me forever. I cry as I write this because it affected me so deeply. It was so beautifully written! So powerful. Some of the things they said to each other were beyond love and passion and commitment. They were spiritual and beyond words and I could feel them head-to-toe as I read. I highly recommend this book. It is they way you want a series like this to end; with grit and power and death and drama. I'm sad it's over and I will miss Antonio and Theresa, but I'm so happy to know how it ends. The smut deserves a special mention too - I adore the way this author plays with language even outside of the smut scenes, she has such a unique voice, but while they're getting it on (or thinking of getting it on and Spin is rarely far from a lust filled thought) that skill with language really makes those scenes intensely and deliciously erotic. Yes the Italian phrases kept pulling me out of the book and onto Google translate a few too many times for my liking, but apart from that, this was a very special, quality read. If you haven't read this series yet you're in for a treat. Recommended.

Bravo, CD Reiss, Braaavo! It’s seldom we’re afforded the experience of reading a series which proves to be 5 star read across the board. We either encounter one book that becomes a filler of some sort or all too often we find somewhere along the way the voices of the characters or the direction of the story changes so dramatically it’s hard to distinguish the characters from those we fell in love with to the ones they become by the end of the story. Sure we love, admire and relish witnessing a characters growth but we also want to be reminded of why we initially fell in love with them and their story. Well, CD Reiss take a bow because you managed to achieve this and so much more because The Songs of Corruption series delivered and it delivered superbly! “I want my kiss.” “Come and get it.” We’ve run out of accolades to bestow on the extraordinary talent of CD Reiss throughout this series. Her descriptive and vivid prose never fails to astound us. There is a poetic beauty to her writing which leaves us breathless as we hang on and devour her every word. It’s a doubled edged sword when we come to the end of a series we’ve loved so completely and in Rule we experienced the excitement of seeing the conclusion to Antonio and Theresa’s story together with the sadness of saying goodbye to these two passionate characters whom we’ve falling irrevocably in love with. Whilst we did find the first 60% of the story dragged a little now and then this in NO WAY impacted on our overall feelings of how much we loved and enjoyed Rule. We understood the build-up required to the conclusion and the last 40% had us on tenterhooks, sobbing, speechless and clutching our hearts! Such passion, such heart palpitating moments, such suspense and such intense soul searing love, not to mention the treachery, lies and deceit that abounded. ‘Amor regge senza legge.…love rules without laws. ‘ We reveled in the growth of the characters in this conclusion, Theresa Drazen in particular whose outward grace, poise, elegance and beauty, tinged with an aura of fragility belied the strong, capable and fierce woman beneath. Theresa was a force to be reckoned with and quite the match for the forceful, possessive and determined Antonio Spinelli. She was a revelation! ‘When he smiled, the sky opened and God himself showed his favor. ‘ Antonio Spinelli. Words fail us! Here is a man, and what a man he is, who loves his woman and we mean LOVES her. That alone is reason enough to love him but we also fell in love with his flaws, his heart and his strength. Yep, this guy is it for us and boy were there moments he even had us in giggles as the inner caveman was exposed! Oh Capo, our Capo! “Take me,”she breathed.“You crazy, beautiful bastard. Take me.” The love between our Capo and his Contessa may not have spanned decades but it was no less an EPIC love story. Time does not equate to intense, soul deep love – feelings do and we FELT every emotional, passionate and intense moment between these two and find ourselves indelibly marked by their love story. Brilliant! Moving! Intense! Passionate! Evocative! A stunning conclusion to an outstanding series! Pledge closed “I want what I love, and I love what I want. What I want is you. It picks up right where the 2nd book ended and is it ever a roller coaster ride from beginning to end!!! Theresa and Antonio have decisions to make. By coming back to the place they left, it's about being ready for the consequences, no matter what that may be. They have different opinions on how to handle certain things. Antonio bent on protecting Theresa regardless of what happened to him. Theresa bent on keeping Antonio safe regardless of what happened to her. Neither choice is satisfactory to each other and neither one is willing to bend. Yet they understand. Antonio must do what he feels he must do to allow them a future. Things got a little more complicated when a part of his past was brought to the present. Theresa has always been secure with her feelings and how Antonio feels about her but Antonio's past has an impact to her future. Meanwhile, the power balance of the mob scene has to correct itself according to the big players of the house. Whether Antonio and Theresa like it or not, something has to happen. All leading to one highly charged, explosive, heartrending conclusion... Theresa was truly one heck of a heroine. Yes, I questioned her reticence at times, but ultimately, I understood its source. Her convictions are undeniable, and her actions reflect that. Her love for Antonio clearly propelled her to do the things she did but it didn't subjugate her to his needs. That I think shows true strength. Only a confident woman who's comfortable with her weaknesses and aware of her worth can have the thoughts she did. Antonio was truly one heck of a partner and a lover. Passion oozes off him, whether directed to the people who wronged him or to the woman whose essence permeated him to the core. He's ruthless but he cares. There is such old worldliness to him yet he's caught up with the times. He took charge yet he relented to her. He clearly put Theresa on a category of her own. He didn't patronize her nor underestimated her love for him... He loved wholeheartedly... Honestly, I cannot be any more enamored with him!!! It's been a while since I've felt my heart caught at my throat, anxiously anticipating the sequence of events. I was giddy with excitement seeing much loved characters from this supremely layered and fascinating Drazen family. I was gutted by the end, bawling my eyes out, and arriving at the end, I was melancholic and ecstatic all at once. I couldn't have thought of a more fitting ending to the love story that is of Antonio and Theresa... sigh... CD definitely knows how to weave a tale. Her words are just dramatic, there's no other way to put it. It's impactful. It's awe-inspiring. It's breathtaking. "Some things are in the stars. I was meant to protect you. And you were meant to rule." Thank you once again, Christine, for your gift of words.

We either encounter one book that becomes a filler of some sort or a 5 ‘ siamo nel libro d’amore’ stars “Some things are in the stars. I was meant to protect you. And you were meant to rule.” Pledge open : il nostro capo e la sua contessa sempre nei nostril cuori. Our hearts are overflowing! What a series! What a love story! What an author! What a conclusion! You came to me as a lady and now you are a queen. I’ve never met a woman lie you. I don’t even deserve you.” **Reviewed from an ARC copy provided by the author, with thanks ** THE SONGS OF CORRUPTION SERIES OUR REVIEW - SPIN BOOK ONE OUR REVIEW - RUIN BOOK TWO ✦✦✦ TB Blog :TotallybookedBlog ✦✦✦ Come say Hi : TB on Facebook ✦✦✦Follow us: TB on Twitter ✦✦✦Check out: TB on Pinterest ✦✦✦ We're on TSU: TB on TSU

Sometimes writing reviews comes really easy to me, other times not so much. This review…it falls into the not so easy to write category. Why I am not sure. Maybe because I am not ready to say goodbye to my Capo and his Contessa. Maybe it is because Rule emotionally drained me because CD Reiss wrote it so flawlessly. Maybe it is because I just don’t feel like the right words have been invented yet to convey my love for Rule. It is probably a huge culmination of all of those reasons that I find my Sometimes writing reviews comes really easy to me, other times not so much. It is probably a huge culmination of all of those reasons that I find myself writing and deleting everything I have typed over the last 30 minutes. I just can’t seem to get it right….and this is a book that deserves the most eloquent words ever spoken. If you are new to the Songs of Corruption series, stop here and go grab Spin. Nothing that I will say will make sense to you otherwise. If you are a diehard fan of this series then let me just tell you the answers you are yearning for from the end of Ruin you get pretty much right away. Rule fills in all the gaps. It is Christine at her finest and this book will leave you breathless, speechless and an emotional wreck. Christine holds nothing back and leaves nothing on the table. Antonio and Theresa are still somewhat on the run and the consequences of their actions from Ruin are the catalysts that make this plot unfold. Everyone is leery of these two, the tension is high, lives are at stake, yet at the core of it all is Antonio and Theresa clawing their way through it all holding on to each other like a lifeline. Rule does not skimp on emotion. With every swipe of the page, you get more and more sucked into these two ‘Live Together, Die Together’ mentality. It is the underlying theme of this book. It is what makes these two defend each other to the bitter end. Christine not only has written these words for you to understand it, she has written them in such a way you feel it to the depths of your being. It’s an emotional roller coaster and until the very end you have no clue as to how this book is going to end. Christine has never been one on sugar coating any of her characters, so don’t go into Rule thinking you have any idea how this book will play out. Because I can assure you it won’t be what you are thinking from the start. From the moment I picked up a CD Reiss book, her lyrical writing has captured me. There is a depth to her storytelling that makes me so invested in her characters that their sorrow is my sorrow and their happiness is my happiness. In Rule, she not only makes you contemplate what Theresa and Antonio are going through, but there are points in this book that will make you question things in your own life. Do you love someone so much that you are willing to lay your life down for them? Do you have a moment in your life that you hope it is the last one you think about before your life ends? Rule is not just a book about a mafia guy and his love interest. It is a book that is filled with moments that make you know that Antonio and Theresa’s love story is epic. Epic in a way that you might not find in other love stories. It has never been a secret that The Songs of Corruption has been my favorite of Christine’s series. Although I loved Songs of Submission, my heart has always belonged to the Capo. But for all of the SOS fans out there, you will find so much of the King and his goddess in Rule. I love the congruent timeline that Rule carries with Sing. So grab a box of Kleenex, load up Rule on your ereader and sit back and relish in the love story of The Capo and His Contessa. It is the end of the road for these two and this series, but I know that I will hold them in my heart for a long time. Rule is a journey that is one you won’t want to miss. Thank you Christine, your words moved me to a place I didn’t know I could be taken. An entire constellation of stars goes out to Rule. Long live Antonio and Theresa!
