Rancher Daddy was my second Lexi Whitlow novel in a row. The author again delivered a book with wonderful characters, great writing and so many feelings. Grace needs to be away from home. She has always loved kids. When Grace goes to visit Camden and Emma, she immediately connects with both of them and she will become Emma’s nanny. Grace and Camden are wonderful characters. Grace is sweet, caring, reliable, hardworking, loving and a little lonely. She’s lost and ready for something new. Grace is happy with her job as Emma’s nanny. She’s amazing with Emma. Emma is such a smart, sweet and adorable girl. I’m glad Grace has found a new family and a home. She deserved it. Camden is an amazing dad. His daughter is his world and he would do anything for her. He works very hard, but always makes time for his little girl. He loves his ranch and working on it. Camden doesn’t do commitment and he never expected to ever fall in love again. He fell for Grace very quickly, but still tried to keep her at some distant. -- My honest review is based on an advanced reader copy of this book. --

I can’t always explain my tastes . . . Its cliché but the single dad and babysitter/nanny trope always pique my interest. So when I saw this (and that cover!) I one clicked and jumped right in. The story evolves around single dad, Camden and the live in nanny he hires, Grace. Its cliché but the single dad and babysitter/nanny trope always pique my interest. So when I saw this (and that cover!) I one clicked and jumped right in. The story evolves around single dad, Camden and the live in nanny he hires, Grace. This should also evolve around Cam’s 4 year old daughter, Emma (after all she is the reason that Grace enters his orbit to begin with) but surprisingly, she barely makes a blip on the radar until the last like 20% and only to cause drama between the MCs. The premise was promising but this was a really fast insta-lust/love story between the MCs in a really loooong story. IDK if I can explain it, but I never really felt their connection. Camden and Grace go from avoiding/ignoring each other and only speaking when absolutely necessary (for weeks!) until Cam’s will finally breaks and he kisses her. That kiss leads to Grace throwing all her assumptions (including the fact she suspected him of being gay and of not liking her) out the window and leading him upstairs where they immediately have sex. I give Cam points because he goes into this wanting to build something with Grace. She’s the one that makes him keep their relationship a secret. Their sleeping together – because they always sneak around and never actually date – goes on for like 6-8 weeks and it pretty much is described as a purely physical relationship. During the day he’s working the ranch and she’s home with the kid. They keep things professional and only get together at night and she never spends the night in his bed. I don’t know, but it sounded really cold to me and I honestly didn’t get why Cam was so drawn to Grace and vise versa. They never really get to know each other. They talked long into the night but about superficial things. More like small talk than actual meaningful conversations. What really yanked my chain was Grace. I didn’t like her approach to Cam and their relationship. She always had one foot out the door and her reasons why their “fling” could only be temporary – complete with an expiration date – was lame. I also didn’t like how passive aggressive she was with her ex. The whole scene where she freaks out at Cam, when her ex shows up made me roll my eyes. Then I was blindsided by the way the author decides to make the ex out to be a creep, just to appease the h’s views of him. Ugh! It was so out of nowhere and felt too forced. It felt long for me because it was just a lot of inner dialogue between both MCs and the story felt like it got stuck in limbo, with the H falling deeper in love with the h and the h closing herself off and always keeping him at a distance. Nothing happened for a long time and than when it finally did, I was already clocking out. Would I recommend? Not really, I honestly lost interest pretty early on and only kept reading because I don’t like DNF once I sort. I will say the heat is pretty hot but the long drawn out story tends to lower it to a simmer, at best. SAFETY INFO: (view spoiler)[ Ages: Grace is 24-25 and Cam is 31 (Neither are virgin) Cheating: Not between the MCs but H was married before and there was cheating. The dead ex cheated (off page) on the H and H reveals that he also cheated one time with their live in nanny (at the time). He and the nanny don’t go all the way because his drunk ex shows up and interrupts them, but OW was half naked and he was “getting there”. OM/OW drama: The secret of his dead ex hangs over them and leads to some drama. There’s also a catty woman who is interested in Cam and she acts and gets treated like the cliché evil woman. She only appears once and only to plant suspicions with the h. Separation: Not really, although they do have a fight and the h immediately jumps ship and quits. She does it by letter, when the family is out of the house and just up and packs her stuff (with no hesitation) and that to me, seemed too easy. She literally had no doubts or double guessed her decision. It was just too hard and she was out of there! At this point I wanted her to leave and for the H to find someone else. For someone to throw in the towel so easily makes me think their feelings were not at all invested. And if that’s the case, what’s the point of keeping these two together??? Push/Pull The h, Grace – pushes all the way through to the excruciatingly slow ending! Main Pursuer of relationship: Cam, I still don’t know why but he wanted Grace and worked to convince her she should stay and make a life with him. Triggers: Death of a sibling (off page, h lost her nine year old brother when she was 13), infidelity (off page), drug and alcohol abuse (off page, the H’s dead ex) HEA/HFN: Ends on a HEA and an epilogue 9 years later. Normally I love epilogues but not of this could liven things up for me. (hide spoiler)]

Second of all, Emma -- who is supposedly the reason this story happens in the first place -- was mostly off the pages. Third of all, there was so much telling and not showing. Why didn't the author develop better Thanks Giving? And Christmas? Why most of the MC's talk was just presented like "we talked and had sex and talked some more and had some more sex"? Show the goddamn talk! Show their feelings growing! Fourth of all, why, Oh, why the h kept saying her time there had a deadline when the whole freaking time the H was saying he wanted her for him and that he loved her? Is h eating horse's shit? Of course not, she's eating bullshit. Fifth of all, you expect that after 200 pages the h will act rationly, but the girl just can't seem to have one brain cell working in her head since she never wants to clear up a series of lame misunderstandings. She's like 25 years old and yet, Emma being almost 5, is more mature than h's sorry ass. She did well on court but after that all she did was have me thinking she's TSTL. Irresponsable and selfish are the best adjectives for her at this point. All those calls I got, they weren’t about me leaving or trying to make me change my mind. They were about the fire. No shit. You just found out that the world doesn't move around you. It must have burned, you special snowflake. (hide spoiler)] I'm so done with this book, honestly. The nanny and cowboy tropes have both been done a lot, but nobody does it better than Lexi Whitlow in this book! Although the synopsis may sound like other books you’ve read, this book is done so exceptionally well that you’ll really be missing out if you let it pass you by. Camden Davis hasn’t had an easy time of it. After losing his father over a decade ago, he worked hard to make the Kicking Horse ranch into the top breeding ranch in Montana. Then the woman he married gave birth to their very sick daughter and decided she didn’t want to be a mother, so he had the sole responsibility caring for Emma through multiple surgeries, yet she’s now a happy, healthy five year old with a love for horses flowing through her veins. Keeping a nanny for Emma is a challenge of its own, because the nannies decide they want to become the next Mrs. Davis, so Cam looks for a nanny from outside their community. Grace has just broken things off with the guy she’s known since childhood when he decides to move across the country and assumes Grace will follow him. Instead, she see Cam's ad, moves to Montana, and falls in love with Emma. Grace is all too familiar with pediatric heart issues, having lost her younger brother when he was nine years old. Her parents never got over that loss, so she basically lost them both in the process, and Cam's big, loving family is something foreign to her that she desperately wants to experience for herself. As she and Cam get closer, and that family she longs for is within reach, things get tough and Grace falls back on her inclination to run away from trouble. The advance copy of this book I read was so great in so many ways! It’s always a breath of fresh air to read a book from the vast ocean of indie authors that is well written and edited, and this one was beautifully done. The characters were well thought out, complex, just a little bit flawed and ever so endearing. Even little Emma was someone I could picture so clearly, playing with Grace, riding her horse, and being scolded by her father. The chemistry between Cam and Grace was explosive, but they were so much more, sneaking their way into my heart as they worked to find their footing and build a relationship. The storyline was terrific, with a little heat, a little humor, and plenty of action and surprises to keep the reader engaged from beginning to end. Then Ms. Whitlow did something writers rarely do, giving us a glimpse of these characters long after their happily ever after to their life several years in the future. It was like the cherry on top of a perfect ice cream sundae. This book is definitely worth reading and will leave you with those warm, fuzzy feelings and happy sigh at the end, so don’t miss it!

So this time around he takes an add out in the paper hoping to find someone who can actually do their job without hopes of doing him. But fate has a funny way of messing with you. Cam can’t keep his mind of Grace!! She’s amazing in every aspect especially with Emma. Things start out great with Grace & Cam. But the past comes back to haunt both of them. Not to mention Mother Nature. Will Grace be able to tell Cam everything in time? Or is it already too late

We meet Camden, Cam, who is a single dad bringing up his lovely 5 year old daughter,Emma, who was very ill when she was born and her mother left her with him and the marriage as she wanted no part of a sickly child and a husband who worked long hours to keep his family safe and well. Cam sat with Emma whilst she had to go through so many surgical procedures and she is now healthy and a happy child. His ranch, The Kicking Horse Ranch, is renowned for the quality of his horses in Montana. he has tried employing nannies form the local community but they all want him to marry them and he is just not interested in them that way at all so he decides to advertise further afield. In doing this he meets Grace who has broken up with her childhood friend/boyfriend as he expected her to move with his job and him and she just didn't feel enough for him to commit to that. So she applies for the job and falls in love with Emma instantly. The dialogue between Cam and Grace is witty, humourous, and sensuous all leading to building up the heat in their attraction for one another. Her empathy for what cam and Emma went through as she was treated is very close to Grace as her brother had similar cardiac treatments but his weren't successful. She loves the ;large family she now works for and feels as if she is home for the first time in her life since her brother died. This is one special love story and I read it right through in one go and was well worth losing sleep for it. I look forward to Lexi's next story. Then Mother Nature takes a shot at them too, which leads to the resolution of the story. Character development: In the beginning, every few pages, this guy moves the goalposts! First, his mom was the test - Grace could stay if his mom liked her. Then she could stay if his friends liked her. Then she could stay if she got along with the horses. I mean, she's there to be a nanny. Can she take care of your kid? Okay then. Anyways, Cam was more emotional than you would expect from an alpha cowboy single parent widower. And Grace was more closed-off than you would expect from a non-conformist risk-taker. It was an odd pairing. I wanted her to finally just lose it and break down and cry. But I guess hallucinating in the hospital is good enough. Would I read more from this author/in this series: probably Next book in the series: Not a next in the series exactly, but in the same format: Low Country Daddy

He keeps his heart closed off to temptation, but Grace is weaseling her way in whether she means to, or not. Their relationship grew slowly and naturally and definitely had it's ups and downs. Grace was confused and not being told the whole back story of Camden's past heartbreak. She was also determined not to mess up her job, because Emma was becoming a very important part of her life. Emma brought light and love into Grace's lonely world and she did not want to risk losing that for what she assumed would be a quick roll in the hay. Towards the end when things started to unravel, my heart was breaking for Camden, Grace and Emma, but when put into a life threatening situation, your true feelings quickly reveal themselves. Grace was literally willing to put her life on the line to save Camden's livelihood and only someone feeling the deepest kind of love towards another would do this with no consideration for themselves. Did Grace's epiphany come soon enough to salvage their relationship or will she end up making the ultimate sacrifice for the man she loves? Fabulous romance with heat, humour, so much heart and a bit of action and angst. I teared up a few times and then outright ugly cried towards the end. Such a great read!

At first I though this would be a typical rancher bad boy read where the rancher dad drowns his sorrows in women with one night stands and having exes coming out of the woodwork wanting a piece of him, making trouble and trying to hook him....so so so so wrong on that assumption and that was one of the many reasons that even though I received an advanced copy I had to buy it as well to relay to the author how much I loved that aspect. This was a refreshing read and set apart from the norm which only made me LOVE this read that much more. Camden is the single dad with a beautiful young daughter, Emma, who needs a nanny after the last one quits when she develops a crush on him and he doesn’t reciprocate at all. He puts out an ad and it attracts Grace, who needs something for herself when she decides she doesn’t want to follow her boyfriend and breaks up with him. The story that follows is one not to miss, a story that flowed beautifully, steamy scenes, heartache & hearbreak, lust/love, meddling grandparents, revealing secrets, no man wh***, and finding the one place you finally belong in and risking everything to save it. The ending with the epilogue was worth it all and Lexi Whitlow knows how to wrap it up all beautifully in this story giving a glimpse further into the future most authors don’t and another reason I had to buy it.

Grace falls for the Davis family before she even realizes it. Grace continues to surprise Camden even with her blog that she has he is blown away by this woman. One night he can't help himself he kisses her but Grace is worried about if things don't work out so they back off until they can take about it first. When Grace steps in and helps with Camden's in laws when they are behaving badly in front of his daughter he knows she the woman for him. Can Camden convince Grace to give them a chance? This was a great story once I started I couldn't put it down. If you haven't read anything by this author then this book would be a great place to start. This is a must read in my opinion. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.

Surprisingly wonderful Given the title, I was expecting trite and predictable. What I got was so much more. Camden is a rancher taking care of his young daughter after the death of his wife. They weren’t happily married but he was committed to her. Now that she’s gone, he needs a nanny to watch over his daughter so he can focus on ranch business. That’s where Grace comes in. Grace is from the ‘big city’ a d looking for a change. She sees Camden’s ad and wonders if this is was looking for. Camden is sexy as all get-out and is plagued my nannies falling for him and forgetting about their job to care for his daughter. Grace just left a relationship and while Camden is hot he’s also her boss. I’m sure you can figure out how things go but it was an interesting read with a lot of twists to make it exciting! As a bonus, there were 2 other books included: Teacher’s Virgin and Guarding Her. Both started off slow but picked up quickly. As a warning, in both of the extra books the women are crazy frustrating. It’s likely due to age (both in their early 20’s) but it drove me bonkers the whole thought process. However, like the main book, they redeemed themselves and I came away very satisfied with their stories/conclusions.

I just loved the different approach of the nanny theme. A cowboy and a nanny was an amazing mix and the story is very well written. It is different from the others of this theme. The storyline and plot was great. Characters are so likeable and relatable as well as well described. They have an amazing chemistry and passion for each other. The authors use of words and writing style just kept me on the edge. A relationship that has to overcome secrets and the hurt both parts have had in the past. Can they learn to love each other. A captivating romance that has a lot of chemistry, passion, love, drama and emotional feelings in it. A sweet and touching romance where the characters has to go through a lot to get their HEA. The epilogue is very welcomed, because it gives a hint about the future and I like that very much. The steam and emotions flows of the pages and keeps you on the edge. It is written in dual POV, which gives the reader a lot more of the feelings and thoughts of the main characters. I can only recommend it if you like romances with a bit extra.

Maybe leaning toward a 4.5/5 because who doesn't love a story about a good dad? Fairly well edited. Camden has a 4 year old daughter in need of a nanny with some medical background. He is branching outside of his local community because all the locals want to get him down the aisle. Grace is looking for a change in her life, having not found post-graduation employment in her chosen field. Grace applies for the position, and finds herself on a ranch in Montana. Talk about a life change for a city girl! Fortunately, city girl does not equal diva, so she takes the job and settles into life in Montana. Camden has been burned by love and women, and is not looking for either to be part of his life. However, he didn't' count on Grace. As Grace interacts with his daughter, Cam begins to see a genuinely nice and caring person. He slowly begins to open his heart to the possibility of love. But, does Grace feel the same? Will she stay or will she finish her contract and leave? And when disaster approaches, will Grace step up or leave? All in all a feel good, sweet read. Emma was really a cute addition to the story. Enjoy.

This was such a cute story that grabbed my attention right at the beginning and kept me page turning until the end. Not your normal nanny story. Lexi Whitlow has done a great job with this book and the characters have a lot of depth. It's told from both POV's and I like that. Camden is a single Dad with a five year old daughter that was born with a serious illness. After her birth, his wife left him with the child. He concentrated on raising his young daughter and keeping the family breeding ranch going. He had no time or interest in relationships and had gotten rid of previous nannies because they wanted him. He then hires Grace as a nanny. She is from out of town and is just out of a long term relationship. She is very attentative to his daughter because her brother died at age nine from a pediatric heart condition. Their attraction is there but they continue to fight it and old insecurities surface. Lots of drama but eventually an HEA. I read an advance copy and voluntarily chose to write a review.

Wonderfully developed characters with some picturesque scenes this book was a hit with me!

What a wonderful cowboy romance! Cam is oh-so-delicious, a dedicated father and not the jerk in this romance. That title goes to Grace, who freely gives her heart to little Emma but is determined not to fall for Cam, despite how absolutely wonderful he is to her. But of course this is just one of the many obstacles they have to go through on the road to their HEA, which is a beautiful journey indeed. Nothing is simple in this highly entertaining story. It's quite an involved story with wonderfully developed characters, a fast-moving plot, lots of kindle-melting steam, and plenty of big, shiny belt buckles. It's a story perfectly tailored for my cowboy-loving heart, and I enjoyed every single bit of it. Except for the times I wanted to smack Grace, but she eventually came around. Wow! Until towards the end This book pretty much had it all. I was very interested in all the things that seemed to come out. At times it was a little too drawn out. I also wasn't a super big fan of Grace overall. She had some redeeming qualities overall but her weaknesses overall were just kind of annoying. I mean she seemed so level-headed about some things bit then others it was like she couldn't figure out anything. I mean did she need to have Kara make all her relationship decisions for her? Wow! And the fact that she was so quick to bail but the horses brought her back?! Suggests she didn't ever live Emma or Cam that coming back wasn't about them. I get her past left her a little stunted in relationships but it made her very unlikable that she would leave and not care bit when the horses were threatened that made her care. Everything leading up to that point was great. Just made me feel like she didn't care and made her completely worthless for anything more

I loved the latest from Lexi Whitlow! When Camden tries hiring a new nanny for his little girl he decides to put an ad out, hoping this time will be different. I enjoy it when a writer gives us a look into what happens down the line with the story. This is one of my top favorite books by Ms whitlow.
