The author makes some valuable points in his opening and then goes on to write the rest of the book from his singular perspective as a retired Chicago Police Officer and ex-Marine. He does use facts such as numbers of people in prison but doesn’t show a lot of other research on the subject. The book feels like a rant of his personal views complete with misspellings and words used in the wrong context.
