3.5 stars Naruto's immaturity is becoming too annoying to ignore... There is so much potential in him and I know this is just the beginning of his road. But it feels like for every step he takes toward wisdom, he takes two backwards in the beginning of every volume. On to Vol 8. Looking forward to a real breakthrough!

More introductions of solid, long-term characters, the explosion of Sasuke's curse, and the fulfillment of part two of the Chunin exams. Pretty standard stuff, some of it a lot more interesting than others. Basically, the first half of this volume was pretty awesome, with the second half being mostly dull except for the bit with Gaara, which really amped up the ongoing threat. As Sasuke gets a first taste of his new powers, things escalate in risk and reward. But what's even more jaw-dropping is Gaara's first exhibition of his abilities, and it is not for the faint of hearts. Dude is insane and I can't wait to get more stories regarding him. Oh, and Kabuto is one sketchy bastard. I do not look forward to any of his slimy moves. In Volume 7, Naruto and his gang continue in the Chūnin Exams. I don't know if I just let too much time pass between when I read volume 6 and this volume, but I spent the whole time a bit confused. There are so many moving parts to this series! Other than Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura I could barely remember the other characters. As the story progressed I was only able to truly recall how one or two of the other characters related to the story, sadly. I am also struggling with the visuals, believe it or not! In many frames I find that I'm staring for long minutes trying to figure out who is reacting to what, or what is even happening. It's really frustrating when things just *happen* for no apparent reason. I tried to let go a bit and just keep pushing onward, but with so many moving parts, it was a really challenge to get engaged. I might be over Naruto at this point. I love the premise and I love how weird it is. But, I just can't seem to catch on to it.

A note mentions that this was the first volume of Naruto created entirely digitally. Fortunately, the art looks no different to my eyes; it looks as organic, hand-drawn and beautiful as ever.

A volume of housekeeping and setup. It keeps jumping between characters and different points in time to convey all of the information it wants to. There are some links to help transition, but not enough to keep the book from feeling pretty herky-jerky. Not terrible, not great.

But the real reason I love this volume so much is it is the first time we get a glimpse of Gaara's awesomely frightening powers. This kid is terrifying! When watching the surveillance footage, the supervisors are flabbergasted at the strength and brutality shown in one kid in particular: Gaara. Is it strange that I loved this kid?? So badass. I'm sure it's strange...I'm weird like that. Anyway, this side story was fascinating and I want to see more! Back to our clan, due to Sasuke's new power, their attackers run off and they head toward the tower. They come across a lone ninja that was separated from his group: his name is Kabuto. He helps them make it all the way to the tower and is quite suspicious. At the very end, as Naruto and the gang are about to open the scrolls, we discover that Kabuto was a spy of Orochimaru. This volume leaves on quite a cliffhanger.

This exam relates to school and how every year there is a test every year and it is used to see if you can move on the next grade or not. It is almost the same concept as the exam in the book but tests in school does not put your life at risk. If you past the test every year you get promoted to a higher honor but in this case, a higher grade. I rate this book 5 stars because I think this is a good series to get into, aside from the setting of the past, there are hardships that these characters must face without the use of everyday technology like cities today. I also think this book has a lot of conflict but it is not just the dull ones that is random, it makes sense with the story.

I was confused this story. Orochimaru left a curse on Sasuke’s skin and Sasuke was destructed and changed like a different person by his dark background. I felt nervous because I couldn’t predict their future. In addition, Gaara and Kabuto had secret powers. I cannot stop reading Naruto.

This volume was about the consequences of Orochimaru's mark on Sasuke and Team Seven finally making it to the tower, and thus completing the second test. The fight scenes were alright, but there was definitely a lackadaisical pace to the actual story. If the ending was something that I liked, I would have, but there were a few things so fundamentally wrong (in my opinion) with the ending that I don't want to finish the series, or even continue reading it. Basically, the ending makes me so angry that I never want to touch Naruto ever again and I only finished this volume because of a need for completion.

    Soul

I must say it is and it will forever be(fingers crossed) my favorite Manga novel read. the way Masashi Kishimoto described the characters is just awesome, you get to see them growing up, becoming responsible... powerful... and it is not just characters, The plot itself is so much bigger... u simply can't get enough of it. and add to that, u get more than just entertainment, you learn... what is responsibility, respect, kindness, friendship... so it is not just a manga it is a way of living... The sprite I must say it is and it will forever be(fingers crossed) my favorite Manga novel read. the way Masashi Kishimoto described the characters is just awesome, you get to see them growing up, becoming responsible... powerful... and it is not just characters, The plot itself is so much bigger... u simply can't get enough of it. and add to that, u get more than just entertainment, you learn... what is responsibility, respect, kindness, friendship... so it is not just a manga it is a way of living...
