If you like action, thriller, or spy novels you will really like Death by Denim. The characters and plot were really thought out and it was a great end to the Death by Mystery series. The high action plot gives a magnificient ending to the series. Aphra's personality and determination are a huge factor in the plot. She goes after the Mole (someone who has been targeting and trying to ruin her family's lives for years) to try to end the pain and hiding he has put her family through for years. She ends up getting stuck in a trap that may endanger her life and the life of her love interest, Seth. The ending is very suspenseful and really keeps you reading. As I got to the last four chapters I couldn't put the book down. The Mole's plan at the end almost gets Aphra and Seth killed, but their daring and action packed escape plan gets them out alive only to be faced by another threat. I really recommend this book to people, especially ones who love action and spy thrillers. This book keeps you on the edge of your seat and there is never a dull momment. The beginning starts right into the action as Aphra and her mom are forced to move to Paris by a threat from the Mole and only a little while later are threatened again when her mom's contact is found killed. I think the title Death by Denim really wraps up the whole story. Aphra's mom's contact is found killed with a piece of denim wrapped around his wrist which leads to the Moles hideout, a factory that makes that same type of denim.

Aphra Connolly’s life can never be normal again, not since she discovered the true nature of her mother’s work and unwittingly landed herself on the hit list of a very dangerous man known as The Mold. So, she and her mom have been flying under the radar and hiding out in France, but despite their careful precautions, they are still not safe. When they discover they’re being followed, they’re on the run once more, but they don’t get very far once Aphra’s mother’s Parisian contact is found drowned in the Seine. And just like that, Aphra finds herself a pawn in the midst of another deadly plot involving The Mole and the boy of her dreams, Seth Mulo. But this girl isn’t just another pawn in this sick game; she’s a player, sick and tired of being threatened. And she’s not leaving without a fight. Gerber does not disappoint with this exciting novel from her Death by… series. Gerber’s strength is by far in creating such a thrilling and fast paced plot that will keep readers on the edge of their seats. There are even the spies, sleeper cells, and dangerous thugs, everyone with mixed up identities, to keep thigs fresh, interesting, and unpredictable. While I appreciate Aphra’s quick thinking and resourcefulness, I also feel the character development could’ve been better. The reader barely gets to know certain characters because the story moves along so quickly. But despite that, Death by Denim is a wholly enjoyable read, full of action, romance, and international flair. Action packed and suspenseful, Death by Denim wraps Gerber’s Death by… series into a trilogy while still leaving room for an offshoot continuation. Fans of Death by Bikini and Death by Latte by Linda Gerber, the earlier installments in this series, won’t want to miss Death by Denim. Teen girls in particular looking for a fast and fun mystery to devour will enjoy Gerber’s Death by… series. reposted from http://thebookmuncher.blogspot.com

I always had problems with the fact that the titles of these books were so loosely connected. The title for this book related to the plotline a lot more regardless if the reader really caught on or not. Aphra is on the run. Well, sort of. The Mole is searching for them. She's gone incognito with her mother in France under a different name. Their cover is blown and they have to flee France and go to Natalie's contact. Natalie's contact comes up dead, gagged by strips of denim. The denim came from I always had problems with the fact that the titles of these books were so loosely connected. She's gone incognito with her mother in France under a different name. Their cover is blown and they have to flee France and go to Natalie's contact. Natalie's contact comes up dead, gagged by strips of denim. The denim came from an abandoned factory in Italy, close to the Mulo's hideout. The Mole's plan is to get Seth and Aphra together and kill them. Aphra goes on a journey to save Seth with Ryan coming back into the story as her protector. But when Aphra goes to save him, she leads The Mole right to him. . . . This book was really good! I feel like I don't have a lot to say though because you could knock this book out in a few hours and get up realizing that it didn't phase you. You never really get connected to the characters. The characters never really grow. After the first book, Aphra's dad is just kind of thrown out of the picture and you wonder how he's doing because last we really heard was that he was recovering from Hisako (Or, however you spell her name). The series is entertaining and a good read when you don't really have plans to read something else. Death by Denim was an extremely fast read and it was slightly annoying because the action started like 100 pages into the book and if you think about it, you get that feeling like, "Oh, the action came in, now the book is almost over". Well, that's because it is. This book is only like 230 pages and I felt like so much more could have been said, emphasized, etcetera! I just wish it was a longer story with more romance. Towards the end, you wonder if there will be another book when there obviously won't be. Seth leaves and tells her he'll see her again and the epilogue makes you feel like another story will be told. Long story short with no sugar added: This book was good, it was a little too short, a fast read, and there was a huge lack of romance and all the mushy gushy fluff that everyone wants. The end of another series. Sad, sad, day. For more of my reviews, go to: sugarcoatedbooks.blogspot.com.

But when the contact is found dead in the river, a riddle-like message in his mouth, Aphra must decide whether to finally go after “The Mole” herself or to sit around waiting for her world to fall apart all over again. Like the previous books, I loved the characters. And while development has pretty much been set by this point, there were still some curious revelations and changes in how they related to each other. The romance between Seth and Aphra gets even more heated and more adorable (ack!), even sappy in a few moments. Even though I sensed a little bit of scandal with Agent Ryan McAwesome (anyone else, or am I just crazy?). The action also accelerated, with some scenes that were way more heart pumping than in the previous books. Definitely an improvement, for alternate reality adrenaline junkies like myself. Ultimately, a short review, but a positive one. Definitely look for this title- out on May 14th of 2009 (Oh! Hey! That's this year!). It is worth the wait. Linda Gerber’s humor is progressively more awesome and her writing as well. 6 out of 7 Skull-Patched Jean Skirts!!! And has anyone heard news about a 4th novel? *crosses fingers* Hoping and Thankful to Ms. Gerber, Aella

This book is about a young girl named Aphra Connolly. She has been hiding for the past year due to a dangerous situation associated with her mom. Her mother is hinding from a man called the Mole. Aphra's boyfriend, Seth, is also hiding from the Mole with his parents. Even though Aphra desires to spend time with Seth, she wouldn't dare do anything that dangerous. Revealing their locations would put their life in deeper jeopardy than it already is. If you like books with action and love, I definit This book is about a young girl named Aphra Connolly. I'm very partial to mysteries and there are too few new YA mystery series. But let me tell ya, Linda Gerber's "Death By" series is everything that I love in a YA mystery! This is the third title in the series and it takes place in Paris where Aphra and her mother's cover have been blown and moves on to Italy. I found myself holding my breath as I turned the pages while Aphra tried to escape the bad guys and find her boyfriend too. I want more, more, more, please!

This book was just a good as the other two in the series. However, I was a little disappointed by how it ended. I thought there would be more between Aphra and Seth. May be she's planning on continuing the series and wants to save that stuff for the next book?

Not only was the series unique, but they also had a strong sense of reality to them. Even though all the things that happened in the book were extreme for real life, they could happen in our modern world; it would not be impossible. That's what I loved about this series. No matter how far away from reality they pulled sometimes, they always came back to reality. Linda Gerber is a great author and she did a fantastic job with this series. The 5 stars are not only for this book, but for the series in general. "Death by Denim" continues the story of Aphra and Seth once again, but a whole different subject is brought up. Now both children attempt to live a normal life, though everybody knows that wouldn't happen. There is still The Mole and he is angrier than ever. I can't say that this book is the best in the series, but it definitely isn't the worst. All of the books are great and I would not be able to decide which one is my favorite, they all had their own touch and they all caught my attention. I read the first book (Death by Bikini) quite a long time ago, but when I found the other two books in the library I decided to read them right away. And in two days, two sittings, I finished the series. I can't believe how fast it went, time just flew by like nothing else mattered. It was great and just such an awesome experience reading this series. I actually think the books wouldn't do too bad if they were made into a movie. It could become a hit! I would recommend this book to anyone who likes suspense or romance, it has a balanced amount of both. People of all ages would enjoy this book, anywhere from 10 years old up. They just need to have the capability to read and then they would love the book. As I mentioned earlier, my mother is the one who introduced me to the series but I finished it before her. She is now almost finished with the second book and she enjoys it as much as I do. Don't hesitate to get this book if you think you are too young or old for it, you can at least give it a try. This is one of my all-time favorite books! Love it.

Now once Aphra is in danger again, she decides to leave and try and go find Seth, to see if he can help. Only Aphra's mom doesn't know and when Aphra finds herself in even more danger, she AND Seth have no where to run. I love this series so much! It is filled with excitement, danger, action, hot boys and a whole lot of mystery! And all of that makes it an awesome book. Aphra and Seth were extremely swoon worthy (well at least Seth was) in this book and there were a few intense scenes between the two of them but nothing bad. Aphra was quite gutsy in this one she left without telling her mom, even though we could sort of expect that from Aphra. I am pretty sure I wouldn't have the guts to go look for some boyfriend of mind but then again I am pretty sure Aphra is all grown up and thanks to her mom can take care if herself by now. Still I found myself worrying for her and Seth because they get themselves into more than a few scrapes. I extremely like how everything was all wrapped up nicely with everything, and since I certainly don't want spoil the book I won't go into too much detail. But I will say that the plot in this one was extremely good and well totally swoon worthy like I said early. I hope that we will see more of Aphra in the future but I am not so sure of that at this moment. So my final words are enjoy this excellent series while you can. Sorry if that last line was a little too remorseful but I wish Linda Gerber would write more books about Aphra!! Oh well she does have a new book called Trance coming out that sounds absolutely spectacular, and I already have it pre-ordered!!

Can Aphra get herself and Seth for that matter, out of this stick situation and get herself out of trouble once and for all? These books are so much fun. First there is Aphra, who I think is so much fun and hilarious. The adventures that she went on with her mom in this volume of her sister were the best yet and I could absolutely not put the book down. Also Aphra’s relationship between Seth was great, as always. Seth sounds so adorable and great, and to see the two of them in action together was fun and exhilarating. The writing was also good and kept me in a great amount of suspense. Overall I really enjoyed this third installment in the Aphra Connolly trilogy (and how I hope Linda Gerber decides to continue with more) and highly suggest that if you haven’t had a chance to read any of them you pick them right up. And on that note, I don’t think it is necessary to read the books in order, as you kind of get caught up with previous adventures within the first few pages. So what are you waiting for? Grab one of these books today and get set to go on a great and terrifying adventure!

The Mulo's later break out of jail and are now wanted by the CIA and Mole. Aphra and her mom are in bigger danger than they realize. Leveque told them in Paris, where they were hiding from the CIA and Mole, that he could help protect them. What Aphra and her mom didn't know is that Leveque works for the Mole. He gave them shoes with trackers in them so that the Mole could find them, and put them in more danger. After the Mole used Leveque to get to Ahphra, Leveque was murdered. Then, Aphra went behind her mom's back and went to warn the Mulo's. While doing this, Aphra and Seth Mulo were captured by the Mole. Will they ever be safe again? I think that this was a very exciting book that always left me in suspense. For example, I was left in suspense when Aphra and Seth Mulo were captured by the Mole. The chapter ended when they were taken to the Mole's headquarters. It also showed me how unsafe that this world really is. There were many mean and evil characters and I wish that they were nicer people. For example, the mean characters like Mole and his followers tried to kill Aphra and Seth Mulo. Overall, I thought that this was an excellent book!

A couple of parts were repeated, like the dead person, but hey, what's a story without a few people dying?! I think Seth and Aphra make a great team. The caught two murderers before and survived and they just caught the guy who hired those murderers. Oops...spoiler! I also love how Ryan fits into all of this. He was Natalie's neighbor in the previous book. He is just that secret spy person that you find at just the right moment. I think the only thing I don't like is the Mole. He is just a coward to send one of his little goons to kill someone else for him. And I think he is just plain meant to want to kill someone...period. That's my opinion.

This mystery keeps the reader guessing about which characters are good and which ones are bad. Aphra has the same problem and makes some bad decisions based on incorrrect assumptions. They get her into increasing trouble, but that's what builds the suspense and makes the story more exciting. I enjoyed how the author allowed Aphra to use her intelligence to solve problems, but she still made silly mistakes. It's nice to have an inexperienced "agent" making mistakes, unlike some other novels with teenage protagonists. It's unbelievable that kids can solve problems for government agencies, but it's even more incredible when they do it perfectly. Aphra makes a big mistake when she believes Ryan, an agent, is lying to her and ditches him in Italy. She realizes this is a big problem when she's headed to The Mole and has no idea what she'll do when she gets there. This series is great for readers who enjoy mysteries. It's also great for readers just getting into mysteries, because it contains plenty of suspense but is not overly complicated.

Aphra wants a normal life, so she and Ryan run to Varese to find Seth and capture the Mole before the 8:00 AM deadline. I really liked this book because it had many cliff hangers, so it made me want to read more and more. Linda Gerber put in some violence and a lot of adventure in the book, so it was my favorite book in the series. My favorite part in the book was when Aphra stole The Mole's Blackberry, so The Mole followed her, but Aphra stepped on a shard of metal, which caused The Mole to find her. I think that any middle school girl (11-14 years old) who enjoys reading adventurous books should read this book. This is because it is the appropriate reading level for middle schoolers. It has a bit of love and romance too, so I think a girl would prefer to read this book rather than a boy. Some violence and adventure would include when Aphra and Seth are fighting The Mole and Marlboro Man, or when Ryan and Aphra are traveling in the forest to get to Varese.

Aphra is definitely the main character in this book. She is a grown up lady, brave and tough. A young agent (without being one officialy) who will try to bring down the evil man and his organization. In this book we finally discover The Mole's identity. A sadistic man, with no value for human life. We get to see more of Ryan (one of my favorites characters) and a glimpse of what could have been a fantastic love triangle. Unfortunately, it didn't happen. Nevertheless, Ryan takes a more important role in this book and helps Aphra be the hero of the story. Seth is other of the characters that could have been described more deeply. He is such a sweet boy, the perfect match for Aphra and a key character on the story. The action is always present. Actually, book three is the most thrilling of all and has A LOT of emotions. Europe is the perfect scenary for the story with some of the most famous cities. Death by Denim will not dissappoint the followers of the series and will definitely leave you wanting for more.

Okay, so you should read DEATH BY BIKINI and DEATH BY LATTE first. It is a mystery series and this is the one that reveals the Mole's identity. In Paris! But seriously, this series is cheap and pocket-sized. You can toss all three in most purses and have something to read in the bus/car/plane. And believe me, these books will make the trip far more exciting. (Especially if you're driving through Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota. Back to the book: Aphra and her mom have escaped to France, but they're about to be separated after an unexpected death. And it seems that her path is about to cross Seth's again . . . perhaps my favorite touch was the return of a character from DEATH BY LATTE. I liked him in his brief previous appearance and really worried when he got hurt since he didn't have main character immunity. Linda Gerber answers many questions in the third DEATH BY . . . novel, though I hold out hope the series will one day be continued. But with all the murders, spies, and explosions of DEATH BY DENIM, you'll definitely be distracted from the more boring parts of summer. And if you finish the book before you reach your destination, you can play with the cover cutout.

A so-so end to an excellent series. I was expecting a little more from "Death by Denim," considering that it was supposed to be the thrilling end to the exciting Death by... series. I feel that Gerber's relaxed approach to the ending of this series was sort of a cop out, she could have done much more with it. In comparison to the first two books, "Death by Denim" is seriously lacking in many ways, on it's own however, the book was fairly well-written and mildly interesting. Also, this book would have been extremely hard to follow/understand if i had not read the first two in the series...it's been less than a year since i read "Death by Latte" (the second in the series) and i still found myself forgetting some important details...i still have no recollection of Ryan ever being mentioned before, though i figure (by the way Aphra was talking about him) that he was perviously introduced, and i merely forgot about him.

I don't usually read the kind of books that reviewers classify as "Chick Lit" but this series astounded me in how interesting, action-packed, and fun Chick Lit could be! I love how the author can make you think you've predicted something easy, and then turn around with a twist you never saw coming. I was constantly guessing who the "bad guys" were, and as it turned out, I was usually wrong. I give this book four stars because for the last in a series, there were definitely some fishy conclusions... The ending was a little anticlimactic and I think there are still certain people -- *coughRyancough* -- whose stories could be elaborated on. Also, I really want there to be more books! Seriously, this series is exciting, suspenseful, smart, funny, and really well-written in terms of the author's style, etc. I would really recommend it to anyone who loves quick mysteries and spy movies. ;)

The last book of the "Death By series": In this book Aphra experiences having to learn a whole new language and move to a totally different country with her mom, where they think that they are safe.. This book may be good for someone who has experienced having to stay away from the one you love the most, for your own good (as did Aphra). Also for someone who loves a mystery story, with deaths, romance, and action with tons of suspenseful moments. As I have stated before in my other reviews of this series, Linda never fails to place a picture of the scenes in my head. I like how she leaves just the right amount of wondering to the brain. I also like the amount of dialogue that is in the book, I always think that is very important. I do dislike how she does just leave the end of the story with Seth and Aphra being separated. This book defiantly makes me want to read Linda's latest book "Trance", and I can't wait! Also, this has to by far one of the best books I have read in a LONG time. I recommend this to any one that likes to read about mystery deaths, action, and romance, it's quite the bundle. Enjoy!(:

In this third (and final?) installment of the Death by... series, Aphra is once again in danger, only this time, she gets to jetset around France and Italy. In fact, the pace is so breakneck that the book is over before you know it. There are some very memorable Seth/Aphra scenes that kind of reminded me of George Clooney/Jennifer Lopez in Out of Sight. I mean how hot is making out on a dirty factory floor with your hands cuffed behind your back while evil goons plan your doom in the next room? So yeah, I like the way the series wrapped up, and I'm happy that the epilogue left the door open for the possibility of more Aphra-centered thrillers in the future.

I picked this book on sale and never knew that this is a trilogy and not a stand alone. I corrected my self by checking it at Goodreads and yes it has a previous 2 books which are Death by Bikini and Death by Latte. I got hooked on the book and wanted to get the other books as well because there is a lack of knowledge for me on why The Mole is chasing them in the first place and why in the world Aphra and her mother always needs to change their address and their family being followed. I just wish there were more deaths by denim rather than one mysterious death of this guy whom she believe is the one she trusted to but instead she shouldn't. Lesson in this book, never trust anyone even the person closest to you because as time may past by, they will put you in danger.

Note that I am trying my best not to give spoilers for all three books. Characters: From the beginning of this series I have loved Aphra and Seth's characters. Meeting the new characters that were introduced in this one was also nice. They were described nicely and I got a real good taste of what they were like early on. All I can say after this book is that I hope Gerber writes more. Hopefully more in this series, but if not this series, hopefully more mystery/romance books in general. I'm most definitely a fan. Wow Factor: Again, very wowed with this book as well as the whole series. Five hearts.

Thinking that they were finally starting over, turns out that Aphra and her mother were wrong. They arrive in France, thinking that they were safe from the Mole, an evil leader. However, knowing that the Mulo's family was far from safety, Aphra and her mother risk their lives trying to destroy the Mole. Since this is the third sequel to Death by Bikini, a lot has happened since the first book. But rest is assured, in the end, The Mole dies. Besides that, both the main characters', Cammie and Emma's mothers are spies. They're both associated/work for the CIA. I understand what Aphra is going through. It's probably extremely complicated to be related to spies. I wonder if its hard to find someone you can trust sometimes.
