Nolan is willing to help the Syndicate, but only to protect the love of his life, Bridget Monaghan, from the debt she owes Seamus, a task that becomes more difficult as the turf war becomes more perilous. Bridget Monaghan is walking a tightrope over a crocodile — and his name is Seamus O’ Brien. Bridget is trying to keep her head down and her sick brother alive while the Syndicate plots the takeover of South Boston’s criminal organization, a takeover that will eliminate her debt to Seamus O’ Brien. As if that’s not enough, her renewed relationship with Nolan Burke is built on a lie — or the truth she hasn’t told him about the reason she left him the first time around. But it’s hard to keep secrets when everyone has something to lose, and soon Nolan and Bridget are on the run as everything is revealed. When a hideaway meant to offer protection becomes the site of a deadly game of cat and mouse, Bridget is forced to defend herself and her family while Nolan races the clock to save their lives — and their love.

Overall I enjoyed this book. I like how Nolan and Bridget advanced in their relationship. Things are getting heated in Seasmus's mind, but when the Syndicate that recurited Nolan takes a big leap against Seasmus, it had put Bridget and her family at risk. I'm still wondering when Bridget will tell Nolan of her big secret, I don't think Noaln will love her any less but he may feel disppointed because she was afraid to come to him and instead ended up in the web of Seamus. We still don't know how the syndicate will bring down Seasmus but the Irish will fight like the devil. with gun ablazing. I did like fow Michelle gave us a peek at some of the other syndicate leaders like Farrell for example.

This second book is totally this bridge as to what is coming. If you haven’t read the first book in this series then you need to stop reading this review. Nolan and Bridget are quietly going about their roles when stuff starts to unravel. With the Syndicates help, Nolan is trying to keep himself alive and the people he loves. I love Michelle’s syndicate series. I always look forward to when she has a new book release, this one was no different. I liked the book, but I do feel it started off slow. I like the action. I feel like Nico and Angels books were nonstop suspense but this was is more informational than action. It wasn’t till the last handful of chapters that I couldn’t put the book down ... looking forward to the 3rd book for Nolan and Bridget

As always, with this author, the action is packed, the love story is strong and compelling and the sex is hot! I can't wait for book 3, Hell or High Water.

In the second book of the Boston Syndicate series Nolan and Bridget are playing a dangerous game by hiding their relationship from crime boss Seamus O’Brien and being moles for the Syndicate. When something happens and Bridget lets her guard down, she and her family becomes a target and have to run for their lives. There was enough suspense from beginning to end to keep me hooked and turning the pages!

Nolan and Bridget find themselves getting in deeper trying to help the Syndicate continue to take out Seamus. And now with the help of the IRA, he makes the biggest mistake when he threatens Bridget and her family. Nolan will do whatever it takes to protect them. This book was an excellent sequel to Thicker than Water, and I can't wait until the conclusion to see what's in store for these characters. As Seamus becomes more suspicious and trying to find the mole in his organization, things are becoming more dangerous for them. As the syndicate moves in,things are about to really heat up.
