After a while, he developed a cynical attitude about this city and its affectations, but was inspired by the beauty of the landscape and wrote a literary novel, “Out-of-sort Ang New York mystery writer Bill Hays became burnt out and felt his novels were repetitious, and so he moved to the Santa Fe, New Mexico in the early 1990s to broaden his perspective and renew himself. After a while, he developed a cynical attitude about this city and its affectations, but was inspired by the beauty of the landscape and wrote a literary novel, “Out-of-sort Anglo on the Lone Prairie.” The novel failed, and so to make ends meet, he now applies his literary investigative skills in some piecemeal detective work. When Juan Santiago, the scion of a Hispanic Brujo family, is murdered, his massage partner, Leslie Anne, hires Bill to investigate. After the murder of a medicine man in Taos, which appears to be payback, Bill seemingly finds himself caught in the middle of a deadly standoff between the Brujos and Medicine Men. As the energy salvos are exchanged, Bill is initiated by Juan’s older brother, don Jose, and the mysterious Carlos into the Brujo realm to summon his magical nagual to join in their behind-the-scenes battle with an evil sorcerer who would enslave us all. “John [Nelson] may indeed be a modern-day Carlos Castaneda.” Michael Langevin, author of “Secrets of the Ancient Incas” About the Author John Nelson is the author of the visionary novels “Starborn,” “Transformations,” and “Matrix of the Gods,” originally published by Hampton Roads Publishing, and more recently “I, Human” published by Cosmic Egg, and “The Miracle of Anna” by Roundfire Books. He authored the nonfiction title “The Magic Mirror,” which won the 2008 COVR Award as the best book of the year and best divination system, and “A Guide to Energetic Healing.” He is the former editorial director of Bear & Company in the late 1990s and Inner Ocean Publishing in early 2000s. Nelson is the present owner of Bookworks Ltd., where he edits fiction and nonfiction books for a variety of authors and publishers. This includes “The Sacred Promise” by Gary Schwartz, “The White House Doctor” by Dr. Connie Mariano, “The 12-Step Buddhist,” “Yoga and the Twelve-Step Path,” “The Buddha Speaks,” “Bright Light” by Dee Wallace, and Jacob Liberman’s “Luminous Light.” Nelson has been a yogi and a meditator for fifty years and brings an expanded consciousness perspective to all that he writes. His fiction is a blend of hard science, science fiction, and psycho-spiritual insights, and his nonfiction is based on his metaphysical explorations. His website: www.johnnelsonbookworks.com.
