Would have given it 3 stars except for the fact there was finally some other action besides underwater warfare. Glad to see the Marines involved with a halfway believable scenario. Finally some damage to our side. Can't imagine defeating that many enemy vessels without anything happening to us. The fact that one boat takes on "the world" without help from other US assets is getting hard to swallow. Seemingly Real or Real? Geopolitics aside, a good page Turner based on subsurface warfare is always welcome. This book delivers in spades. Even resorted to reading it on my phone - rare for me.

I couldn't get past chapter 5. Ridiculous dialog, unimaginable discoveries this early in the book causes me to suspect a comic book plot with super hero finish. Not recommended for a serious reader. I couldn't get past chapter 5. Ridiculous dialog, unimaginable discoveries this early in the book causes me to suspect a comic book plot with super hero finish. Good read. First class story. Lots of action with plenty of technical talk and details, two good stories , could have done with being slightly longer.

Unbelievable My assumptions without any statistic backing. The open aggression and killing in Iran during the jailbreak by U.S. forces would start a major war along with a UN reprimand. No sub has had that high a kill rate on one patrol. A Captain with the years of service and charged with the responsibility of commanding the nation's top submarine is not going to throw it all away on some younger female officer.
