A doctor came in and told her she was the sole survivor of an apartment fire; then he left and said someone else would come in and talk to her about it. She drifted off to sleep between each visitor. Now her best friend Scarlett was asleep in a chair beside her. And she still had no idea what happened. Scarlett woke when Ava started to cry and Ava asked how long she had been there. She could not believe it had been two weeks! Ava woke again and it was dark. A doctor walked in but did not turn on the lights. She felt warmth, smelled pine, cedar, and smoke. He looked at her chart – how could he see it without light? He looked at her and her blood heated as she reacted to him. Then something crashed and she closed her eyes tightly. Someone growled for the ‘fire-breather’ to get away from her? Both men growled and fought, cracking the sink, crushing the cabinet door. The fake doctor, whose name was Sebastian, won the fight, told her not to fear him, and said that the other man had come for her. He was there to protect her and would not leave without her. And for some reason, she did feel protected by him. At another crashing sound in the hall, he stood in the doorway as if guarding her until someone he knew called to him. He held out his hand to her and as her body heated, he kissed her. Then he picked her up and carried her down the hall where two other men waited. Ava woke in a chilly room and found clothes next to the shower. She showered and dressed, and followed the smell of something cooking. Sebastian called her to join them and introduced her to Noah, Grayson, and Logan. After breakfast, Sebastian told her they weren’t human and thought she wasn’t either – so she figured they were crazy. He told her they were shifters whose line was dying out. So… wolf, bear, housecat? She would call their bluff. But they wanted to go up to the roof so they didn’t destroy the house they were in at the top of the freezing cold mountain! They all walked upstairs – and amazingly, she still trust that Sebastian wouldn’t hurt her, no matter what they were up to. Sebastian began taking his clothes off, and suddenly there was a dragon in front of her! After letting her caress his face, he flew up and showed her how he maneuvered. He flew back so another could shift for her. Grayson went next and let out a roar as he blew out fire! Then he landed and his dragon licked her from head to toe in one swipe, chuckling, as she threatened to get back at him! Ava had to take a shower to get rid of the dragon slobber and, to her delight, Sebastian joined her when she asked him to do so. But before things could progress, Logan knocked on the door to say that their parents wanted to meet the human in the throne room in 10 minutes. Huh? Her four rescuers were princes of clan Igni, royal fire dragons. Logan came to escort her and explained that female dragons usually took multiple mates to make sure an heir was produced. And they had hopes that Ava was a potential flamekeeper, a role similar to a Queen. Then they arrived at the throne room. It was almost overwhelming. The Queen told her that her sons would explain what was to come – and her parting words were that they were all counting on her. For what? What was she expected to do? How would she choose one of these men? Did they truly want her to carry on their line of monarchs? What was going on? And what will it mean if another clan also was searching for a flamekeeper? I loved this book! It started out immediately with mystery, suspense, and danger! The story line was good and moved along quickly. The characters were excellent, each of the dragons so different from each other and yet special in their own unique way. Grab a copy and thoroughly enjoy this story! It will hold the reader’s interest to the very end!

Flamekeeper by Helen Scott ... This is a good paranormal romance and the first installment of the Flamekeeper serial. I enjoyed the concept of the flamekeeper and her role within dragon mythology. I’ve not encountered that before and was intrigued to learn more. I enjoyed her interactions with the princes, and with her bestie Scarlett. Her seemingly instant feelings for the men appeared a bit rushed considering they’d all just met. She has some serious challenges ahead of her if she’s going to become the next flamekeeper. The big question is which clan will eventually claim and keep her? It’s a quick read that’s well written and Ava and her four men are well-defined. There’s some humour, some action, and some serious steam. I read a scarily massive amount of fantasy and paranormal stories so it’s no shocker that I glimmer on to Moonlight Mist, one of those “limited edition (ie, only sold for a short period) collections of those kinds of stories. Ava, the lead here, goes from ordinary gal almost killed in a fire to discovering she’s actually a “flamekeeper”, essential to the survival of the Igni dragon clan - and there are four princes of the clan there to do their best to convince her to sign on. Yumminess proceeds as “nothing burns hotter than dragon fire”. Holy moly (I was going to write something else but changed it to G rated) was this ever fantastic. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the anthology is most definitely easy to highly recommend.

Danger, excitement and steam abound in this fun read I'm reviewing Flame Keeper, by Helen Scott. This was an exciting story, that starts off with tragedy, action and danger. At first the good guys aren't certain and I loved the flow of info and truth that the guys gave Ava to win her over. The danger continues, as she gets to know each of the dragons and I enjoyed the chemistry and rapport she had with them. Good fun! Flame Keeper is an absolute 5 star. Ava and her four Dragons weave an enjoyable, enticing story. From the first time they meet until Ava decides if she is willing to try and help save their clan, the story has many twists and turn that keep things interesting. The imagery of the Dragons beauty and their mountain home will leave you wanting to find the same for yourself. Can’t wait to read the continuation of Flame Keeper to find out if Ava survives and their love and bonds grow.

Just started this set but wanted to give my review for Flamekeeper. She survived a fire that should of killed her. That one moment now has drawn her into a world of unknown paranormal she never knew existed. Is she the flamekeeper if not will it mean her death. The story has some action and does heat up as it is a reverse harem. Definitely need book two to find out what happens next.

An intriguing story that captures your attention from the beginning. The paranormal meets the untried and unknown as the author weaves a very complex tale with a young woman at the heart. I loved the intensity of the story from the interesting characters to the intriguing storyline. The author made the characters feel real. Great story
