Morgan Kelley is one of my favourite authors and I am always happy when I see that she has a new book out. This month she has two so I am doubly pleased, this is the first. It is a flashback. I have to admit that flashbacks were my least preferred of her books but now I like them because it helps me to understand and get more into the psyche of the main characters. Being able to do so makes for a much better understanding of where the author is coming from. Being able to do so makes for a much better understanding of where the author is coming from. It is a way of delving into her imagination and "seeing" what she is trying to portray. When I read a book that I like I want to "get it" I think for myself, and the author that is the greatest prize, that we have "understood". The flashbacks help these processes immensely. Chris and lizee have the longest romantic relationship in the series and we see the start when we already know the present. That is so poignant and brings such a perception of their closeness and the vulnerability of even the strongest relationships. The author knows the whole picture and we are yet to find out what happens next. nevertheless if we truly understand the characters it enriches the journey.

Yet another blockbuster I don't know what it is about Ms Kelley and this series but it just draws you in. You end up feeling like you know each and every character from Charlie and Sam through to Ethan, Chris, Tony to name but a few. I loved seeing how Wyler is trying to make amends . You really start to see the tortured soul that is Ethan pre Elizabeth. This book is a pre Blackhawk and Elizabeth meeting so it is mainly about Chris and his Bethe (Dont ever go on a boat trip with Chris lol). Full of twists and surprises. How is it possible to keep writing a character fresh and exciting with every new book? Elizabeth is that special, intense ,hilarious character. I totally want to be her best friend. Another one hit out of the park Morgan. Eagerly awaiting her next case.
