August with the help of his brother Lloyd beat the rap for murdering Sara, his wife. The twin Clayton was also attacked with a knife welded by August leaving him with a facial scar...scary situation. The twins are riding along and they hear screaming off to their left, as they approach quietly they see through the four men surrounding a young Indian girl, who was doing her best fighting off th ed abusive white men, whose intentions weren't honorable. The twin brothers Bert and Clayton attacks, unfortunately Bert hesitated and it cost him his life..not good when your twin dies. The men who caused all this turmoil are deputies from Snake Bend..a proper name for this town and the men who control it...you guessed it August and Lloyd Graves. August is the Mayor and his brother is the Sheriff..how cosy.. Lots of everything going on in this book. There's domestic abuse, ambushers, poisoning husband. There's child abuse, August is tired of his wife and two children so he's going to poison them with rat poison..a delightful father...stay away from him...What went on during that era has slightly improved with laws and different agencies with persons who wanted peaceful lives. All I can say is watch what you drink and sleep with one eye opened.....

This is an exceptionally outstanding book of excitingly descriptive episodes of old western adventures. I have already purchased the next story of this series, and after reader the first two or three chapters in this prequel, I am definitely hooked. Gunfights and romance being conducive to great western adventures makes this story a masterpiece of entertainment! Mr. Joseph Powell, the author, apparently did a masterful performance in his debut of Clay and his associates, as this is definitely a five star representation of old American folklore adventures. The storylines could not have been any better from cover to cover. Too, the character selections were definitely befitting of their assigned roles. There were many heartwarming episodes throughout this outstanding story, as well as several heart breaking stories to bring a little sadness to the reader, also. I will begin the second story immediately and hopefully this one will be as satisfying as the original release. I, without hesitation, recommend this story to all readers, regardless of your preference, as the story touches the heart and soul of the reader from beginning to end. If you have any compassion, then prepare for some very touching moments. Do yourselves a favor and follow this wonderful family thru their daily exploits, as you will enjoy each and every exciting adventure they become involved in.

With the help of the Apaches, a brother and men trying to escape from August they were able to destroy the tavern and to kill August and his brother. There were happy endings for Clay's family. There was fast action and gun fighting throughout the story. This is the first book in a series.

Justice is Timeless. Excitement and action and a bit of romance. Clay is on a mission and will not let anything stand in his way as he plans to get justice for his sister. A few twists and turns sends him on a rescue and then a chance to save someone else. Genevieve is stuck in a saloon wishing to get away. She sees someone from her past and things start happening quickly. Very good story with lots of action. A book that's hard to put down. A JP. Western/A Meeting of Minds More Than Once In a Lifetime JP. has. penned a western that diverts in many different directions. The primary character meets his adversary before the Civil when he shoots and kills his pregnant sister. Then they meet again after the Civil War. They again engage in battle, but the results are the same. He follows his target again and assist the Apache woman and tribe from being destroyed by the outlaw gang. The two men continue to be at odds.....DEHS

A really good one Every western (or pretty much every novel) has the same elements. It has good guys (and gals), their counterparts, a problem to be solved ( conflict) and a resolution. Some healthy romance never hurts. What makes it breaks it is the design of the plot and the skill of the author. This one made it. Enjoy!

his book caught me in the first chapter and held me there all the way to the end! A rough and tumble real western! I loved it! Complex interesting characters and faced paced storyline! A wonderful action packed western full of twists and turns. Lots of detail, which I love. I was pleasantly surprised and am looking forward to reading more by this author.

Great read I don’t usually write reviews, this is one I felt deserved it. It is hard to find books that aren’t filled with curse words and or illicit sex. I found this series to so far be free of both. This was also a very good plot and at times hard to put down. I will definitely recommend this series.

Exasperating!!! The hero was the most inept character. Unorganized is a kind discrption. Civil war general, must have been the only man left alive. Not much research done on the Apache Indians. Exasperating read! Crockett White

This book is so bad that i cant move forward wothout reviewing it. This book is written by a four year old. The story is so far from being historically correct that it had to have been written by a person from India between phone calls. Don't want you time. Good guys, bad guys and cowboys and indians! Good old fashion western with all the standards. Overall a good yarn, could use a better fact checker though. Bullets in 1867 were rare.
