With a subtitle of "100 Easy Recipes to Kick-Start Weight Loss" is this just a diet book? My answer is "NO"! Love the quote in the introduction: "You can't out-exercise a bad diet!" This recipe book is for those who want to eat healthier, maintain a good weight or lose some. Maybe, like the author, you are finding out that your metabolism is slowing down as age creeps on you. Shannon, faced with this dilemma, set out to figure a way to still eat yummy foods that also kept her weight in check. This recipe book is for those who want to eat healthier, maintain a good weight or lose some. Maybe, like the author, you are finding out that your metabolism is slowing down as age creeps on you. Shannon, faced with this dilemma, set out to figure a way to still eat yummy foods that also kept her weight in check. Are you confused about Ketogenic, Paleo and Whole30 diets? They are all explained here and whilst this book does not follow ANY of those three diets the author has noted when her recipes are compliant to any/all of the aforementioned so VERY helpful to the followers of the above. Certain foods do not do well in a slow cooker so make sure you check the list provided. There is even a sample 7 day meal plan included. This is an EASY read with the author coming across as being very conversational. There are EIGHT recipe sections: Breakfast and Brunch * Vegetables and Sides * Soups, Stews and Chili * Meatless and Seafood * Poultry * Beef, Pork and Lamb * Desserts and Sweet Treats * Broths, Stocks and Sauces Each recipe chapter contains a list of recipes and page numbers at the beginning. There are NO pictures, bar one, except at the beginning of each chapter. (This seems to be the trend now!) Try the Granola recipe on Page 18. Yum! Yum! Clear instructions are provided. Helpful tips are at the bottom along with nutritional information. Do you have a large family? Some of the recipes feature 8 servings! NOTE: There are a LOT of cheese recipes so would not recommend this for anyone that is dairy-free. Like curry? Try the Carribbean Chicken Curry recipe. Who likes Old Bay Seasoning? Learn how to make your own in this book! Calling all garlic lovers to eat the 40-Garlic-Clove Chicken! Erythritol is the sweetener used in recipes that require a little sweetness. ABSOLUTELY LOVE the broth, stocks and sauces chapter. If you only purchase this book for this chapter it will be worth it! Wow! Now you can quit buying the processed ones and easily make your own, much healthier ones. At the end of the book you will find measurement conversion charts. For those of you not aware of the Dirty Dozen and Clean Fifteen are you will also find these two lists at the end. (Advice on which fruits and vegetables have the most/least pesticides.) This is followed by a recipe index and then an ingredient index. What this is, is a list to make looking up a specific ingredient contained in a recipe much easier. Say you are looking to cook with onions. Just head to 'O' and then 'Onions' and you will find all the recipes containing onions in one helpful list. I was provided a copy of this book by the publisher. That has not influenced my review with the thoughts and opinions above being my own. Thanks, Liz

I have a slow cooker so I was excited to try this cookbook. The chapters include recipes for: breakfast and brunch, vegetables and sides, soups stews and chill, meatless and seafood, poultry beef pork and lamb, desserts and sweet treats, broths stocks and sauces. There is also a sample meal plan. I am excited to try some of the recipes for my family like: shrimp scampi zoodles, avocado and egg casserole, blueberry muffin cake, and chicken cordon bleu. Unfortunately there isn't alot of recipes I can try with being gluten free. I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.

A wonderful cookbook I loved this cookbook. There were a lot of recipes and they were of great variety. Most only required a few ingredients and little time. There are quite a few recipes that I'm eager to try. And, being diabetic, the low carb element is extremely important. I've had a difficult time finding good low-carb recipes, but this book is full of them! I must admit, I have not tried all of the recipes in this book. However, the ones I have tried are very pleasing to the pallet. For instance, if ever you question how ro cook spaghetti squash, try Shannon's Herbed Spaghetti Casserole which is sure to tantalize even the most picky eater's taste buds. While experiencing cooler temperatures, experience the savory taste if this author's Garden Vegetable soup. It is very tasty, yet nourishing. Spinach and artichokes never paired better than they do in her Spinach Artichoke Casserole. Bring the delight of the Caribbean into your home by preparing and serving the delicious Caribbean Chicken Curry, or offer a Gourmet Feast with Balsamic Beef Roast! J do not know why she would title her savory dish by naming it "Jerk" Pork Chops, because there was nothing "jerky" about them! A meal is not complete without dessert. trying her scrumptious Strawberry Cobbler is a must! For something more simple and one can eat while "on the run", be sure to try her tasty Pecan Cookies. What is even more exciting is that all these recipes are designed for preparation in your slow-cooker! I am anxious to try her other recipes. Along with 98 pages of appetizing recipes, is an index, conversion chart, analysis of various low carb diets, meal planning and "Top Tips and Takeaways'" I offer a strong Four Star rating for this book. *This book was gifted me by the publisher with no request for a positive review. This is my honest review.

This is an awesome resource. It's not keto, just healthy - lower in carb, paleo friendly and also Whole30 friendly. She also includes some adaptations for instant pots. There aren't a lot of pictures in this book, which I did miss. She includes full nutritional information, and a lot of these are weeknight heroes. While her egg recipes were interesting, I don't usually feed a large breakfast crowd. Her chicken recipes are great - easy weeknight hacks that will be ready when you come home from wo This is an awesome resource. You know that everyone wants to be healthy and lose weight. I am in that category also. Have been all my adult life and can't seem to stick to a diet, so I no longer try. That said, I love to cook and eat and I love to use my slow cooker. Eating a low carb diet is harder than some like to think, especially if like me you love pasta and breads. Eating a low carb diet is harder than some like to think, especially if like me you love pasta and breads. It isn't as if I eat a lot of either but I do love them. So having a cookbook that gives you alternatives is a great thing. I could eat vegetarian but hubby likes his meats but I do tend to serve vegetarian meals more often than not. Now the soup section is something I can definitely get into, love soups. I like how easy they can be to prep and the longer you cook a soup the better it is. In the introductory section, the author explains what the Keto, Paleo and the Whole 30 diets are, she also explains about carbs and weight loss and slow cooking low carb foods. A conversion chart in the back of the book helps too! The section other than the soups is the broth section. I have an InstantPot and I have made broths in there and loved them. Makes the best soup starter. I have not made broth in a slow cooker but I will be trying. There is even a dessert section, to take care of my sweet tooth, that is super cool. Cheesecake, custards, cakes, and brownies! Now, what could be better than that. I know that I am going to have fun with this cookbook and I highly recommend it!
