This sci-fi series is the best. The plot is fun, and the characters are so easy to fall in love with. Each book is such a quick read! The next one can’t come out fast enough. I would highly recommend this series.

Allie has managed to survive her encounter with the dangerous king, but as much as she wishes...she's not done yet. Allie bears the scars of her encounter, but she carries more than just that. Strange blue marks are marring her skin and only spreading. She's called it done with the men and their agenda. They lied to her. She believes they all did and wants nothing more to do with any of them. The secret is out, but too bad Allie isn't. There's more to come...and whether she likes it or not...she has to buckle up and get ready. Cyan Toxin is slower to get to the name representation of the story, but when it does...I'm thrilled that all the pieces fall into place. I was raking my head trying to figure out what was happening to Allie, how it came to be and so much more, but the author does a great job answering the questions brewing in my head. I can understand how Allie feels towards the guys, but I have to admit that I'm disappointed that she wants to use a broad brush and paint them all the same. I'm willing to bet her mama would have been disappointed in her as well. I love the suspense and the drama in this story. It just continues to build and build and it kept me hooked. My disappointments come in when Allie decides to lash out at everyone - Jer, the guys, but then...not so much those at work so much. I get that she's dealing with the trauma, but it seems she deals differently with the men at work. I didn't like that she assumes things about Jer. Jer has been there since they met on the ship...Allie should know better and be kinder to her. All in all, I am rating this book 4.5 out of 5 stars. I understand that everyone deals with traumatic experiences differently, but I feel that Allie is picking and choosing whom to lash out at. Once again this story ends in a cliffhanger as Sloven drops a bomb on Allie, but I'm more than eager to learn what happens next.

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. The continuation keeps me hooked. Spoiler!  This part was hard to read due to Allie going through an assault..  But this book has more character development and Allie is really growing on me as a MC. I could not put this part down and that cliffhanger has me pulling out my hair. I need part 5 ASAP!!

Yes, there is a cliffhanger at the end of this one. No, that shouldn't deter you AT ALL! The beauty of this series is that they pack such a fun and entertaining punch in a small little package. Whenever a new book in this series releases, I zip back through the previous ones to catch up and it makes it all the more fun to finish. I love Allie and her adventures, all the characters in here are so unique and vibrant! I can't wait for the next one!

This book started straight after the ending of book 3. Which is when we discovered that Blade wasn’t who we thought he was. It is obvious though that Blades feeling for Allie are true though and he does still care for her no matter that she now knows who he really is. The moonshine is complete and Allie is at the party ready to administrate it to the king. I love how Allie believes in herself that she can attract someone just with her confidence and personality rather than the clothes everyone expects her to wear. This shows that it’s not really clothes that make a person attractive it’s the way a person holds them self and how they feel about their body that grabs other people’s attention. This is great for Frost to put across in her book because in my opinion it shows she values a persons personality a lot more. Within this book there are scenes of abuse towards women so if this is a trigger for you then it is best not to read it. There is also post traumatic stress disorder signs throughout the book. For these two things to be mentioned within the book is great, as it acknowledges the fact that these happen in the real world and that mental health problems do exist as many people just turn a blind eye to them when they should be acknowledged. Towards the end of the book we discover who Allie’s friends really are. It’s quite upsetting to be honest to discover the people she had become so close to she doesn’t want to know anymore because they betrayed her. But then at the same time they were still there for her even though they lied so I’m not too sure how I’d react if those were my friends. Allie’s character has developed so much throughout the series and she has become such a strong female lead I wasn’t really expecting it. Her friend Jer doesn’t really make much of an appearance sadly throughout the series not as much as I’d like. Once again this book ended in a cliffhanger but it is so worth the read and it’s only a month till the next one comes out so I can forgive Frost for this.

This installment takes up where the previous one left off. I need to start out by issuing trigger warnings for this serial for acts committed against women. The next thing I feel obligated to mention is this installment of the serial feels like the part of the book/movie where everything goes wrong for the main character. When reading a full book or movie, you get to see it all turn out okay (or not if it is game of thrones). Since this is a serial, it ends on a cliffhanger with another dire situation for Allie. If you don't do well with a reading session of almost entirely of doom and gloom, I'd consider holding off reading this one until the next one is out and hopefully counteracts this one. I felt so much for Allie in this book. So many things go wrong and not just some of the violence but by the betrayals. Honestly, it is going to take some make work for me to forgive some characters. I'd say its not possible, but Frost may have a miracle up her sleeve. Or maybe I am just supposed to buy end that the ends justify the means and I don't understand enough about just how bad the ends are. Though I am starting to get a clue. That said, Allie's true friends stay loyal and support her anyway they can and remain a bright spot in the serial. Allie herself does the best she can under the circumstances and I felt her handling of the situation and reactions were entirely warranted.

The fourth book in the Mixologists and Pirates series is a lot different from the three proceeding novels. As this series is action packed, feisty, and romantic, Cyan Toxin was a big change. Don’t be thrown off! Though I was gifted this book as an ARC, I was not a sensitivity reader. Nevertheless, the previous novel left some scars. I believe they were very nicely handled and research truly showed. My one criticism would be that there was no trigger warning. *waves* Is that still a thing you could add, Ms. Frost? Regardless, the issues Alle Sai is facing made the whole series gain in depth and true emotion. A vast wealth of friendship and love popped from the pages, as well as our heroine’s inner strength. Though fun and light-hearted previously, book four changed the game and I cannot wait to find out what happens next in Onyx Elixir. Beware the cliffhangers, Sugar.

I enjoyed this book and had picked it for a challenge that I am involved with. The book catches you up in it and draws you in. I would say it helps to read the books in the series in order. They do end on a cliffhanger and lucky for me the next book is out. I didn't see that warning on the page for the book and I wish if it was they would give you a clue about it. There is some violence in this book with more that could have happened which that scene might be nice for a trigger warning. I didn't agree with how some of the characters made things happen before but in this book I think they took it a step farther. I could understand how the main character was feeling and didn't feel the other characters that caused some of the problems really were there for her. She didn't have the same background or experiences as her and they still pushed things that would be uncomfortable for her.

These stories just get better and better. To be honest while I enjoy the quirkiness of Allie, it can be hard to read a southern belle and take her seriously at times. His evilness is believable and he is a stark contrast to the playfulness of the other characters, Frost did an amazing job balancing the funny and the serious. Ok, a quick “Cliff’s Notes” review: I loved Frost Kay’s Mixologists and Pirates serial and have no doubt that anyone will too. I read Amber Vial (separately reviewed) a while ago and loved it. My only complaint was that I finished it too quickly and then had to wait. I solved that by reading the remaining episodes of this serial, Emerald Bane, Scarlet Venom, Cyan Toxin, Onyx Elixir and Indigo Alley (Parts 2-6), all at once. Definitely recommended.

I love this series and these wonderful characters! But, I don't love the fact that Ms. Kay leads us up to a cliff and then drops us off! Loving this series This series is certainly different. From the beginning I've loved the MC Allie - she's sassy but relatable. Book four of this intriguing series picks up immediately after the events of the last leave off. This was important to me as I was immensely curious as to where the events of this book would go. Is it possible for this series to get any more exciting? Book 4 is so intense that I read it in one sitting, but I guess that's kind of easy to do when it's under a hundred pages. The endings are always a killer for me, but I also love it because it means the story can continue 😍 each installment is better than the previous one and that’s hard to do as an author I think. Way too short For the price I expected this to be a lot longer. It felt shorter than the others. She's pretty broken after what happens in the beginning and I don't feel like anyone really appreciated that. They are asking her to do things she really can't due to PTSD. So I kind of dislike all the other characters right now and feel like the author has written someone who is incapable of doing what she's expected to do by the end of this book.

I really enjoyed reading this novella. It's a continuing story about Allie and her experiences as a captive mixologist and her adventures in space. Plenty of danger and suspense in this little gem. If you are a fan of sci-fi and space drama. It ends on a bit of a cliffhanger...can't wait for the next book in the series.

This book was phenomenal. I want to know more... I need to know more. I am anxiously awaiting the next book. This series will keep you on the edge of your seat guess at what is going to happen next. The twist and turns are so intriguing. I have to say this is quickly becoming one of my favorite series.

Frost Kay is a genius! I love that we get some answers in this installment even though we are blessed with some more questions, too. My emotions were running throughout this one. You will be grateful for an explanation to some of the deception discovered in Scarlet Venom, but now there's a bigger enemy. I love that the are surprises in every one of these short serials!

As an advanced reader, I am giving an honest review of this new and upcoming book. A new plot unfolds as the story continues. Book four pulled the ending of book three onward while propelling the story into a new direction. Only time will tell if anything or everything will finally work out for a poor southern girl.
