I loved Rory and Shannon together and individually.Very well developed characters that came across as being real. Need romance? Yes,you get that as well. Go get your kink on girls and boys!! There's lots of sex: bondage, dirty talk, bangin' against a wall. Shannon gives Rory what Rory wants, except Shannon wants sweet and tender too. Of course, he doesn't tell Rory that. Mind you, Shannon loves the rough sex, even though he claims he doesn't. Rory is finally having the best sex of his life, but in his mind he's not being "himself" because he's never let go like that before. Shannon breaks up with Rory twice, except he doesn't, not really. Every time the guys are going to talk, they fuck instead. Their conversations go round and round but never get anywhere. I didn't get the whole thing with Rory's ex or his friends or Dex (Shannon's best friend) suggesting a threesome to Rory in the sauna. Um, what? Who does that? Why was Micah (the ex) even there except to cause unnecessary drama? (view spoiler)[At the end, Rory is proud of Shannon for punching Micah in the face when Micah mocks Rory. Sorry, NO, violence is never cool. I found it distasteful, not courageous. WALK AWAY. (hide spoiler)] There is also a side story related to Rory's brother, Jude, who is out on bail. I didn't mind Jude and agreed with Shannon that Rory was a terrible enabler, but Jude's story took up almost more page time than the relationship. This was a hot read, but the HEA wasn't believable. Rounding up for Tank the dog.

These authors write very good, hot stories about real guys. One of the things I enjoyed about this book was that the BDSM starts as almost an impulse, in what was going to be a one-time no-strings encounter. The guys felt liberated to do things they hadn't done before. But when once wasn't enough, developing the relationship didn't have the smoothness of familiarity and practice with D/s. The guys felt liberated to do things they hadn't done before. But when once wasn't enough, developing the relationship didn't have the smoothness of familiarity and practice with D/s. In fact, I'd have loved to see this even more on the page than it was, because I love the fumblings of imperfection in a romance, and the way real people have to work for it. Rory has been the good guy, taking care of his older brother Jude whose issues with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome make him impulsive and irresponsible. He's been the reliable nutritionist, the good son, the considerate boyfriend (until his lover left him, in an argument over Jude.) When he meets Shannon, who is bearded and rough-looking, works construction and is buying a motorcycle, Rory thinks that for once he can just ask for rough, fast, lose-your-worries sex. And it works great. Until he realizes sex once with Shannon won't be enough. But fitting Shannon into his life, and not just his fantasies, will be more difficult. Shannon is a simple guy but not stupid. He works a couple of jobs, rooms with two great guys, is saving money and co-raising a rescue pit-bull-type dog. And he enjoys sex, but he's never done it quite as rough and Dom as he did at Rory's request. It was extremely hot, as a one-time thing. He can't stop thinking about Rory, but a relationship means taking on a complicated guy with a difficult brother and perhaps, trying to be with a guy who wants more, or different, from Shannon than he knows how to give. I enjoyed both of these characters. I'd even have loved a slightly longer book, to see the changes in Rory's relationship with his brother, and to watch a bit more up and down of these two guys working out (or working in) the kinks in their relationship, especially once they spend more time together outside the bedroom. But over all, another very enjoyable and heated read by these two authors.

Very good! I 've read most books by this author duo and I can safely say that this is one of their best. Amazing exploration of the kink and the characters. My only niggle is that some of the secondary characters were a bit OTT, but it didn't take any of my enjoyment out, not at all. I'd love to see this turning out to be a series with different MCs. Rory and Shannon, who are strangers to each other, play out a hot sex scene that they think will be a one-time thing, but then continue it over and over again as the sexual chemistry and attraction is undeniable. But feelings change and potentially false assumptions form deeper roots, and conversation is pushed aside for sex. That’s not to say there isn’t talking, this one definitely gets points for dirty talking and hot, rough sex. But Shannon begins to almost resent what’s happening, wondering if Rory even wants to know him for who he is, or just wants to play out the hot, dominant biker dude fantasy to get the sexual experiences he’s been denying himself for so long. Even going into it knowing the story was going to revolve around communication issues, I still wish there had been some actual talking. Rory and Shannon win the prize for failure to communicate. It was definitely frustrating at times, but it was the point of the story. Shannon, especially, becomes so focused on giving Rory what he wants, the sexual fantasy, that he pushes aside his own needs for romance and taking things slowly in bed for fear Rory will walk away from it. Rory, for his part, is a bit insecure and isn’t sure what Shannon sees in him, but is willing to go along for the ride as long as it lasts. Shannon’s attempts to start a conversation always result in him giving into Rory’s sexual advances while he becomes more and more uncomfortable with the way things are heading. I spent a lot of time wondering just how far Shannon was willing to go (pretty far as it turns out) before he finally broke and said something and how long Rory could keep being pretty selfish even though his feelings for Shannon were growing. I love the way these authors write their kink. They make it natural to the characters as people, not as a formal Dom/sub, but as two people working out what they like and how to achieve it through trial and error sex, so to speak. Here, Rory likes a bit of humiliation and fear in with the rough, dominating sex. Cue the dirty talk and threats of them being discovered or put on display, something he knows deep down that Shannon wouldn’t do. That feeling of safety allows Rory to lose himself in the desires he has hidden for so long. Outside of the communication issues messing things up, there is also Rory’s brother. Jude was born with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and though he is a functioning adult, he has trouble with social interactions and making good judgment calls, often leading to him into situations where he is used by those he considers “friends.” Rory’s devotion to helping Jude has driven away prior lovers and is an issue with his friends. He believes he is the only one who understands and wants to help Jude, but really just enables him. Shannon is the one who doesn’t run away, but finds a way to deal with the situation. I really had to worry about Rory’s ability to judge people as well considering the friends he surrounds himself with. What a horrendous group of people. This was a hot read about a dysfunctional couple. The authors know how to write kink and it’s on full display here. I would have liked to see a bit more of their relationship developing after they come clean with each other about their wants and needs. We do get a glimpse of them months down the road and a recap of how things have changed, but I missed out on actually seeing Shannon getting the romance he wanted and how their interactions have changed in order to balance the two sides of their sex life. Other than that, it was another enjoyable read from one of my auto-buy writing teams.

This book is called "Turn Up the Heat" but it barely did that for me. And also, this is nit picky, but the bearded guy on the cover? sooo not attractive, so weird looking. It really threw me off at first. Anyway, I didn't feel too strong of a connection with this one. I mean, it has a pretty solid story structure and it kept my interest at times, enough for me to give this 2 stars instead of 1, but...a lot fell short in this for me. Not only was I not to into Rory's kink (being dominated in a way designed to humiliate him and put him on display and being "forced" - but not really - into doing things) but he and Shannon didn't have a whole lotta chemistry to start with. Yeah, the sex could be hot at times - most especially their first time, because I do enjoy rough sex. But just like Shannon, I kinda got tired of the rough sex all the time, and when he and Rory actually got to communicating, Shannon said he'd like to make love to Rory sometimes, and yet we never got to read a love scene like that between them, one that was different from the rough sex Rory liked (and Shannon liked it too, but he also wanted not-rough sex at times). And at the end, I found myself annoyed that it went into a full on sex scene between them before they talked out their issues. At that point I had been waiting for them to TALK it all out and fix things, and then we just get a sex scene that further prolonged the talk between them. That always annoys the shit out of me, when two character say "we need to talk, but not right now" because they don't have time for reasons x, y and z so they're like "later" and I'm like fine, okay, but then later comes and there's always one thing after another the characters put in front of talking and I'm like JUST GET TO TALKING. STOP DELAYING IT! And Rory and Shannon really didn't have a reason too. Then they had to take a shower, then they had to eat, then this, then that, then this and on and on it felt like. And once they talked? They barely went over anything! Just the one big issue between them - the rough sex. But they had other issues they didn't talk about. It annoyed me. And okay, random insertion of a possible threesome? And Rory agrees to it? But Shannon never actually agreed to it because he was out of it when he was talking to Dex? Right, so he didn't think Dex was serious at all, but Dex did, even though they were both the complete opposite about the subject. Of COURSE that happened (Why tf would Dex ask, seriously, if Shannon was okay for a threesome with Rory in the morning over coffee? Who does that??) Until Shannon and Rory's big fight (that happens after the reveal that Shannon did NOT want a threesome and Rory had thought he had because Dex had thought he had) Rory never seemed all that into Shannon, tbh, but then Shannon was saying it was over and suddenly I finally felt like Rory gave a fuck about Shannon as more than just a fuck. And we were well into the story at this point, and Rory and Shannon had been together a few weeks, so that was another thing that annoyed me. (Although, another story that skipped over a lot of Rory and Shannon actually BEING together before it broke them up for 5 secs, not something I like). Because like, at the same time I want Rory to actually care and have feelings for Shannon, I also never felt that because the story never gave that impression, Rory never gave that impression. And they're together a few weeks and because we've been shown so little of them actually together and falling in love, I didn't believe when either said they loved the other. Even Rory and Shannon's hurt and pain after the break-up didn't feel real, the break up itself didn't affect me - didn't make me angry or sad, I hadn't been dreading getting to the "drama" of the book that might include a break up like I have in other romance novels - because these two seemed to barely know or even like each other, honestly. All they had going for them was sex, which is what Shannon feared, and I think he was right. The narrative tried to say otherwise, but I didn't feel it. And this book barely held my interest for a lot of it, to tell the truth. It was easy to let it sit unread for hours upon hours at a time. I considered even DNFing at times, but I continued on. Overall, not such a good read for me. Annoyed me too many times to count, and didn't make me happy or engaged enough times to get a better rating from me.

This was very enjoyable and definitely hot. I really liked Shannon's character, his direct and honest nature (except when it came to Rory and sex)! I couldn't see where he ever gave enough consideration to Shannon's thoughts or opinions. Shannon had to always be forceful and assertive with him, which was fine in the bedroom, or against wall, or window, but not so much in everyday behavior. I think it's why part of the narrative and dialogue seemed...unfocused, incomplete (?) at times. Not sure how to define how I felt about it. Confrontations and conversations seemed to meander away from where I thought it was going. It did end up turning into the good ol' noncommunication trope. They did communicate in the end and worked it out but I ended up feeling there wasn't quite enough substance to the story. Still, I liked it and it was pretty easy reading, without any overload of drama or angst. Just what I needed at the start of the week!

That was just fantastic! I can't believe how deep into these characters the authors were able to get. There were so many layers to this story and it was beautifully crafted. The sex was crazy hot, very creative with fantastic dirty talk. I loved Shannon's idea of a workout for Rory when he didn't meet his fitbit goal for the day... yeah, see what I mean about creative ;) I'm definitely hoping for this to be a series and that the next book is about Dex and Elliot. What a sexy, dirty talking, adventure of a ride. Likeable characters acting in a believable way, couldn't tell quite what was coming next and hot sex. Ticked all my boxes. Holy kinkfest Batman!! This book was like Wheel of Fortune, kink style. Every spin will land you a prize kink with a…happy ending. *wink wink* Unless you’re into delayed gratification, then this is one for you too. We had spanking, pain, dirty talk, delayed gratification, dirty talk, humiliation, role playing, dirty talk, restraint, thrill of being caught, and being used to name a few of the prizes that were available to Rory and Shannon. We had spanking, pain, dirty talk, delayed gratification, dirty talk, humiliation, role playing, dirty talk, restraint, thrill of being caught, and being used to name a few of the prizes that were available to Rory and Shannon. The sex was hot, how could it not be with that much kink to choose from? There wasn’t even a hint of vanilla. Unless you count that one time they cuddled and went to sleep? *shrug* There was a moment when a rubber glove came out that I thought my hard limit was about to approach… False alarm, not an ounce of crisco in sight; they just needed to do a cavity search. The dirty talk. Ohhhh the dirty talk… Shannon was on his A game with them words he speaks. Shannon meets Rory when he responds to an ad to buy a motorcycle. When Shannon comes back a few days later to test drive it… he ends up test driving more than the motorcycle. “Promises, promises. I don’t want words, I want action. You drive that bike like you know what you’re doing, but how do you fuck?” This was supposed to be a one and done type situation. However, Shannon and Rory couldn’t stop thinking about the mind-blowing sex they had and decided a repeat was needed. There wasn’t much outside of sex for most of the book. We know that Rory is a dietitian and Shannon works construction and sometimes a bouncer on weekends. The bulk of the story is built around their sex-life and Rory’s brother, Jude. Jude has been in a lot of trouble throughout his life and apparently Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is 100% to blame for why Jude can’t make the right choices and function as an adult. Rory is always the one to bail Jude out; literally. This dynamic between the brothers ruined Rory’s relationships with his previous boyfriends and puts a strain on the relationship with his friends and parents. They all feel that he is enabling Jude’s behavior. This strain continues until Shannon comes along and approaches Jude differently than the others by holding him accountable and setting limits. Shannon’s approach to Jude brings him closer to Rory. A big issue for the MCs in this book was their sexual compatibility. Rory has a strong desire for kink but neither Rory or Shannon have indulged in anything other than vanilla before. “Who knew desire this overwhelming existed? Separate from love or any real knowledge of the man about to fuck him, his need for rough handling took him over, free from captivity at last, given full rein for the first time.” This “full rein” puts a chasm in their relationship. Rory is constantly looking for things to turn up the heat and Shannon indulges but then kicks himself for going along with it. Shannon is insecure throughout on his purpose in their relationship “Being used for sex sounded great in theory. In practice, it was doing a number on his self-esteem.” “I get him off, fulfill every jerk-off fantasy he dreams up. Is that making him happy? For now, sure, but long-term?” A huge issue with both men is their lack of communication skills. Neither are able to do what is necessary to further their relationship. There isn’t a discussion on limits or lines and Rory steps right over it. “Tell me, Doc, if you knew I was as vanilla as the image you project, if my dick was five inches not nine, would you still be interested in me? Because I don’t know who you think you’re dating, but it isn’t the man I see in the mirror. It isn’t me. And you were too busy getting your rocks off to notice I was uncomfortable.” “I knew it wouldn’t last, but I wanted as much of you as I could get. Should’ve known it was a mistake. Can’t build on sand and expect it to hold up when the tide comes in.” The remainder of the book brings us on a journey of discovery and limits for Rory and Shannon. They both have to figure out what they want in a relationship and the kink limits they are comfortable with. This book was alright. The kink and last 25% moved it to 3 stars. The emotional connection was lacking for 75% of the book. I didn’t understand the point of their relationship outside of sex for most of it. It was almost as if they could walk away, no biggie. The remaining 25% really put a spotlight on the missing pieces. I finally got their relationship at the end and I wish that it was more developed throughout. There were some WTF moments that left me shaking my head. You’ll know when you get there. Especially around 74%. These WTF moments were meant to serve as a catalyst to further their relationship but instead really showed the lack of emotional connection. Speaking of WTF…Let’s talk about the cover? Seriously? I'm a huge fan of beards and facial hair but this bearded guy makes me think he should be driving a creepy white van with candy in his pocket. I know, I know… Don’t judge a book blah blah blah. I judge and that cover doesn’t make me think Turn up the Heat. Also speaking of WTF, this book had 2 big jumps in time without indication. These jumps left a lot of questions as to how they ended up where they did. One moment it was a hook up and the next they are having dinner with the friends. *confused* The secondary characters were funny and it seems that the next book has been set up nicely with Dex and Elliott. I didn’t hate this. It was alright and had some enjoyable moments. If the relationship development improves (maybe expand instead of having a time lapse), this could be a decent read and then I would recommend it. If you like dirty talk, I’d recommend it even if their relationship development stays the same. *hawwwwwt* Copy provided for honest review.

~ 3.5 Stars ~ Whew, let me start by saying that Shannon and Rory in the bedroom (or in the office, on the phone, etc.) are pretty darn hot. Turn Up the Heat was a mostly enjoyable little read for me, despite having some minor niggles. Rory is a fairly vanilla guy; at least he is until he meets Shannon. Acting totally out of character, he decides to have a quick raunchy go at it with the hot Shanno ~ 3.5 Stars ~ Whew, let me start by saying that Shannon and Rory in the bedroom (or in the office, on the phone, etc.) are pretty darn hot. Turn Up the Heat was a mostly enjoyable little read for me, despite having some minor niggles. Rory is a fairly vanilla guy; at least he is until he meets Shannon. He goes about his schedule, takes care of his brother, and has brunch with his family every weekend. Acting totally out of character, he decides to have a quick raunchy go at it with the hot Shannon. Shannon looks the part of an aggressive alpha male, and Rory wants to explore his deepest secret. But after getting a taste of his hidden desires, personified, he can’t stop at just one encounter. Shannon, though looking the part of an aggressive guy, really isn’t. Or, at least he wasn’t. Not until an encounter with Rory rocks his world. He gives Rory what he wants, and in doing so, confuses the crap out of himself. This book definitely explores certain kink factors, and there are plenty of sexy times between the two. It was interesting reading Rory’s slow change to being more assertive in his personal life once he starts exploring his physical desires, which were more submissive. It was as if being able to let go there, he was able to become more self-assured elsewhere in his life. Also, I personally was fascinated by the exploration of the confusion Shannon goes through. Discovering something he didn’t know about himself, at all, then trying to figure out and reconcile his now kinkier side with his desires to also have tender encounters and emotional intimacy, and figuring out how to find balance with the guy he was falling for, who only seemed to want one side. Apart from some pretty hot and heavy scenes, I did have some personal issues with the book. The lack of communication between the two MCs frustrated me beyond belief. When I am reading a book, and am constantly (in my head) yelling at them to “Just talk it out already!”, I get all exasperated. With Rory and Shannon, it happened so many times it wasn’t funny. Every time there was something they should have talked about, instead, angry, rough sex happened, and very little got resolved. Several of their obstacles could have been avoided had one, or both, of them taken the time away from their physical needs to really talk. Communication pet peeve aside, the heat in this story is definitely turned up, so if you are looking for a steamy, dirty talking, kinky read, it won’t disappoint. Exactly what Rory wanted, and Shannon was happy to deliver. Unfortunately, Rory was expecting it to be a one-time thing, and when Shannon indicated he wanted more, things changed slightly. Rory was open to it, but he seemed to be really wanting to live out every dirty fantasy he had which made Shannon a bit cautious. Rory’s biggest issue was his brother who lives with FAS (Fetal Alcohol Syndrome), and while he is a functioning adult, he just doesn’t see things the same way as everyone else where right and wrong are concerned. It has been Rory’s pattern to hover and pick up the pieces every time, which hasn’t been helping in the long run. It was his brother’s motorcycle that he sold to pay for bail needed to cover his brother’s most recent mishap. As the relationship between Rory and Shannon progresses, Shannon becomes more concerned with keeping things edgy and exciting enough for Rory. Every time he wants to slow things down, Rory balks, which ends up being the biggest factor in making their relationship work. Eventually, they get on the same page and things start to look a lot brighter for their future. My biggest niggle with this story was Rory and his overbearing protectiveness of his brother. It got a little tiresome, and Shannon seemed to be getting the short end of the stick more often than not. But, Shannon doesn’t let it go on too long before he stands up for himself, and he is fabulous at giving Rory what he needs, especially once they are both on the right track. If you are looking for a steamy story with lots of delicious dirty talk and sex a bit on the rougher side, for the most part, be sure to give this one a try. These authors are a sure win in my book and will continue to remain on my auto-read list. Review written for Love Bytes Reviews.

A hot and sexy romp on the wild side, this story was impossible to put down as I enjoyed every moment. It was all kinds of kinky with rough door-banging sex, an off-the-charts heat index, and two amazing characters. When Rory sells his motorcycle to a guy named Shannon, he makes assumptions of who Shannon might be, just based on how he looks. After all, the guy is buying a motorcycle, right? And he’s a big, tall, muscular man with longish hair and a beard, so he must be into rough sex, right? And when he takes Rory up on his proposition for a one-night stand, it’s bound to be more than vanilla, right? What follows is a hot, up-against-the-wall banging in a somewhat public place that turns Rory’s world upside down. Little does he know, however, that it shakes Shannon’s world as well because the big guy is really not into kinky sex—he just went along with Rory’s suggestion—but what he got was so amazing he might be willing to do it again. The two progress in their relationship, sometimes two steps forward and three steps back, though, as Rory is loving the sex, but not realizing how scared Shannon is about his own strength, and the possibility of hurting Rory, and also of how much he loves it. And then there’s Rory’s brother, Jude. Unfortunately, Jude comes between them—as he has with every one of Rory’s lovers previously—when the two move from just sex into what looks like it might become a relationship. Rory is overprotective of Jude, even though he’s actually older. He displays all the signs of a Fetal Alcohol Syndrome adult, his mother having given birth and then leaving him with his birth father who remarried and had Rory. So Jude is actually Rory’s half-brother, but the whole family overlooks that and has been trying to keep him out of trouble for years. Rory is worst of all—to the point of being controlling. Shannon’s no-nonsense attitude goes a long way toward helping Rory see that he may be too invested in Jude, and Shannon’s relationship with Jude, who now works as an apprentice with him, is based on that no-nonsense attitude, to which Jude responds well. Unfortunately, along the way of their crazy sex life—but non-romantic relationship—Shannon finally breaks when Rory pushes things too far and he scares the hell out of the big man. And Shannon starts to think Rory doesn’t want what Shannon can offer outside the bedroom. Rory sees him as just a construction worker as opposed to Rory who is a professional. Or at least, that’s how Rory’s attitude appears to Shannon, who finally despairs that they’ll ever get to romance, love, and happy ever after. After a spectacular breakup, the two call it quits, but when Jude gets into trouble again, this time he may be in too far over his head, and Rory knows the only man he can turn to for help is Shannon. I loved these characters. They were very real and their relationship unbelievably rough and hot, and yet, there was more to it than sex and it was easy for readers to see that. The authors did a great job setting up the plot of the story, fleshing out the characters, including the secondary characters like Rory’s friends and family, and creating realistic life situations. And a private aside to the author—thank you for your accurate depiction of a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist. This is the first book in which my career choice has been mentioned in a respectable way. No shaming, no slamming of food choices—just a regular human being interested in helping people make healthy food choices and yet eating normally himself. Not a doc, just an average guy who pursued a degree and internship and now works in a respected profession. As an RD/N myself, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for this depiction of Rory’s profession. This was a 5 star story for me, and I’m looking forward to many more stories from these authors in the future. I highly recommend this one to all lovers of MM romance and if you have a yearning for a bit of kink, by all means, don’t miss this one.

3,5 *is it hot in here???* stars First of all: IGNORE THE COVER!! Good Lord, that cover is incredibly bad and does this story no favours. Now on to the really great stuff: This book is HOT. Coming from the world of fanfic I feel like there is no reason why a story can't have a great plot AND come with plenty of explicit smuttiness. Well, Turn up the Heat definitely delivers on the smut to plot ratio. The smut is simply great. Sensuous, involves plenty of nice descriptions and is nicely kinky :) Al 3,5 *is it hot in here???* stars First of all: IGNORE THE COVER!! Unfortunately the rest of this book is incredibly average. Neither Shannon nor Rory are actually interesting characters in their own right. Shannon come with interesting roommates and a really cute dog but he himself is just...there. The most interesting thing about Rory is actually his relationship to his brother who keeps getting into trouble. The point of the book is actually interesting on the surface. It's basically "Don't judge a book by it's cover" (LOL) and the story keeps finding ways to reference this throughout. Whether it's Shannon and Rory entering their relationship with completely opposite ideas of who the other is, people meeting and judging them at first sight, etc.It just a little tiring and almost preachy after a while. I would still love to read a sequel or two if the dynamics kept being this hot!

Rory and Shannon together forever! Oh these guys. Dirty, sexy, funny. Wonderfully written tale about Rory and Shannon who meet when Shannon buys a motorcycle from Rory. Rory is this upstanding somewhat clean cut guy who tries to keep his brother out of trouble. He meets Shannon and some sort of switch is turned on and craves kink or as he puts it, he has an "inbuilt twist." The sex is dirty, funny and mind meltingly hot. Shannon is troubled though, because though he looks like a hard ass, he is actually quite a softy and wants that with Rory but thinks all Rory wants is rough sex. Very enjoyable watching them work it out. It gets messy and hard and very realistic. Great read. Love Jane Davitt and Alexa Snow!!

2.5 stars. If I was just rating this on hotness, it would get 5 stars, no problem, but I want romance with my sexytimes and the romance just didn’t work for me. The blurb makes it seem like Rory is only interested in Shannon for what he imagines him to be: a stereotypical big tough biker who can give him the rough sex he’s finally admitting he wants, so I expected that to be the big conflict, but I felt like they worked through that pretty early on. It felt to me like they were communicating and 2.5 stars. It felt to me like they were communicating and figuring things out and they even started calling each other “boyfriend,” but about three-quarters of the way into the book things fell apart. I just didn’t get Shannon’s reason for breaking up. I mean as a reader, I’ve been getting his POV and thoughts the whole time, and it surprised me as much as it did poor Rory. I think what the authors were trying to do was show that he was uncomfortable with this new side of his sexuality but they didn’t succeed in getting that across. Definitely not my favorite Davitt/Snow book; it wasn’t terrible but not what I’ve come to expect from them.

4.5 stars Holy fuck, that was an awesome book! And holy fuck was it hot! As usual, I don't really read much of the blurb but go by the shelves of other reviewers to find new books to read. And didn't this turn out to be one of the best books I've read lately. So there is Shannon (I envisioned Jason Momoa ^^), he is a construction worker and part-time bouncer in a club. And a biker, but not one of those in a club. Just likes riding a bike. That's how he meets Rory (yeah, I know, Gilmore Girls fan 4.5 stars Holy fuck, that was an awesome book! Other than not being a twink and handsome I didn't have anybody in mind for this character. He needs to sell his brother's bike in order to get the money back he used to bail out said brother (name's Jude btw). That's when the ride to oblivion starts - at least for Rory, as he gets his wildest fantasies fulfilled by the hot as hell Shannon. It was not one of those cheesy romances but there were feelings like uncertainty (sex-wise) which you don't see often (of course every gay man knows how to fuck and hit the spot, even if it is the first time and of course every gay man is well-versed in the BDSM scene by default. Yeah right.). It has a lot of exciting and descriptive and kinky sex (yay!!) but it was real. I've never read a book before where both main characters learn that they are into kinky stuff and explore this side of them. It was an awesome book to read but what truly blew me away was the connection between Shannon and Rory. And kudos to the authors, I was always right there with Rory when his mind got blown away by sexy Shannon.

I love these authors, but this one didn't really work for me. The relationship between Rory and Shannon was very awkward. Rory thought that because Shannon rode a motorbike and had a beard that he must be a full-on leather daddy Dom. He wasn't. Shannon was confused by Rory wanting to make-up rough, fantasy scenarios with Shannon as the star and Rory being forced to submit. It made the sex awkward for them and for me, the reader. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. Hiding this because spoilers (obviously) - after Rory and Shannon aired their feelings and shannon confessed he was acting out of character (wild) to show Rory a good time and to hang onto him, I was then expecting a sweet and emotional love-making scene. This open dialogue they shared ended with another scene of "wild" sex, which ironically Shannon had just finished saying was not his thing (well, not his favourite thing) Hiding this because spoilers (obviously) - after Rory and Shannon aired their feelings and shannon confessed he was acting out of character (wild) to show Rory a good time and to hang onto him, I was then expecting a sweet and emotional love-making scene.
