But after that gut punch of an ending (from the Hollywood Princess novella), ten years have gone by and Heath and Cathy are now reunited after the death of their father. But as they spend more time with one another, Cathy realizes Heath will waste no time in reclaiming the prize he lost years earlier - her. I enjoyed this story a lot and even though I do wish certain parts were fleshed out more, I found Cathy and Heath's chemistry to be solid and intense. In addition, while this story was equally sexy and heartbreaking at times, above all, I loved that Corwin highlighted the timeless nature of Heath and Cathy's love for one another. This was fantastic! 4 stars! ~Ratula

I was drawn to this book by the cover and then the blurb. Sometimes that draw can be wrong. Second-chance romance and Hollywood could have been a huge win for this one. Instead, Heath and Cathy's "romance" was almost non-existent. In my opinion it was entirely too easy to get swept up in and swept away by this amazing read. It's perfect for a quick fix or a palate cleanser when you need a break between heavier books or during a longer series. I looooooove a good celebrity romance. Part of the reason I signed up for this ARC is because some of my all time favorites fall into the Help I'm in love with a Movie Star! category. So you can imagine my disappointment to find that the celebrity thread in the story was way played down. Heath is supposed to be a Brad Pitt level superstar and other than the occasional mention of a tabloid photo or a rehearsal, there was not much more that his celeb status contributed to the tension/story other than passing mentions of celeb-type things. This concept like many others in the story was just not fully formed. I think that this was a running issue throughout the book for me. Some dynamic conflict would come up between the two protagonists and then get resolved too quickly, with little build-up and little pay off. There were just too many things she was trying to do with these characters and not enough fleshing out for each concept. Lets go back to my earlier description: "angsty childhood second chance at love story with lots of family drama and dom-sub elements" that is more than enough to write a book around without also throwing in the celebrity aspect AND an insurmountable cancer diagnosis as well! Let's look at these issues one by one: Family Drama - the brother is supposed to be a jerk? Great! Make him the most evil a**hole in the world. He lied to Heath for 10 years about Cathy's relationship with Eddy. There was hardly any fallout from that other than a little insecurity on Heath's part. Also, they seem to all run in the same circles despite Cathy's attempts to disassociate so wouldn't he have found out sooner that there was nothing much going on there? I also wanted to know more about the father and what his role was in Heath's life. It's not entirely clear if he was adopted officially or just sort of taken in by the family and why was that the situation in the first place?? Dom & Sub elements - Listen, I'll just come clean here and say that this is not generally my cup of tea but there are some excellent authors out there who lean in this direction so I've never let it dissuade me from a book. That being said, I can't believe I'm saying this, but the Dom-Sub stuff was very mehhhh. There was some light spanking and then one scene, I think, where he ties her up and whips her with a belt AFTER she comes clean about her TERMINAL CANCER! Whaaaaa??? I don't care how into kink you are, if you just found out the love of your life has cancer do you really want to whip them with a belt? Especially when you have a demonstrated (and frustrating for her) history of being too careful in the bedroom. Cancer - Okay I think I've maybe read two books EVER about cancer that I truly enjoyed. It's just a tough one to pay the appropriate attention to how painful and awful it is without totally killing the romance. And honestly, I don't think sex can be a huge part of it because you just don't feel sexy when you have cancer, nor do you have the energy to go ten rounds with a belt whipping and other kink thrown in there. I just wasn't buying it. But setting all of that aside, when I focus on how I felt at the end of this book, I actually liked it! I wish I could explain it better but there was an un-quantifiable likability here: I liked that Heath baked - there's nothing hotter than a sexy man baking cookies. There were also some cute, quippy lines that had me chuckling: "I pushed him out of my mind and returned attention to my makeup. There was no room for error in eye makeup" I just wanted more from these characters. It's because I liked them that I wanted to get to know them better. All the potential is there. With some tweaks and changes this could have been Great!

Hollywood King is a great book! I loved Heath and Cathy! I would have given this book 5 stars but 2 things stopped me from doing that. One was I felt like Heath and Cathy’s 10 year break from each other wasn’t explained well. They could have easily seen each other. The second reason is I felt their reunion was anticlimactic. It was a very short book so if these had been explained a bit more it wouldn’t have made it too much longer. Other than that overall I loved the story and the characters. Health and Cathy are brother and sister by adoption. The love they felt at an early age was not a true brother and sister love. *wink wink* The beginning 3 chapters explains a lot about them and their youth plus sets the stage for this novel. Heath and Cathy are two such stubborn idiots. They both want the other, but PRIDE is to blame for their separation. They both are so proud of the other and what they have accomplished and feel they are less then deserving for the other. When a family situation brings them back together the fire between them cannot be contained anymore. Of course, we have some twists and turns plaguing the couple at every turn. The last few chapters I was in high stress….life Defo Con 5 Mode people. The tears were threatening to fall with each page I turned. GAH!!! If you are a fan of classic lit then you need to take the time to read because you will not be disappointed.

It's the day of her dad's wake and she has to face her first love, who left her ten years ago and didn't look back. Then she gets the dreaded call nobody wants. How can life finally give her a chance with Heath only to take it away? This was definitely a great read and I would recommend it. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book. This is A retelling of Wuthering Heights. I had not read The original story, but I liked this one very much. Heath and Cathy are ideal for each other. They were separated for ten years and that was devastating! After an accidental meeting, The hotness goes off The charts! Will they manage to overcome hints ahead? And what secrets are hiding close to The surface?

Hollywood King is sexy and entertaining. This was my first book by Monica Corwin, but I will be reading more very soon. I think I just needed more from the characters than a novella could do for me, but this novel more than made up for that! I loved Heath's viewpoint the best, I think. He is a mysterious character, so being able to get inside of his head and seeing what he is thinking was a vital part of this novel. And Cathy. That poor girl. She has been through so much crap in her young life, it is heartbreaking to see her give up - even for a brief second. Angst and steamy scenes, this book is a fast-paced read and a bit different story from what i usually read, but great neverthel This is the first book that I've read from the author and i read it in one sitting because the story is very interesting and kept me wanting to read more to find out what will happen with them, what will happen with their love story because it's full of angst and ups and downs that will keep you glued to your kindle to find out if they will get their happily ever after. A moving story of love at all costs. It is a little sad but hopeful. Cat and Heath struggle throughout the book against people and situations that keep them apart. Their love for each other is heartfelt and true but has also led to some very heartbreaking moments in their lives. In the end hope for the future and love wins.

Hollywood King is a great retelling of Wuthering Heights with its own little twist. There are a lot of emotional aspects to this novel, but it was also steamy and romantic. Cathy and Heath were passionate, and I loved their chemistry. Hollywood King was a great, steamy, dramatic and romantic retelling of the classic. I thoroghly enjoyed it, and I can't to see what the author brings next. Hollywood King is a great retelling of Wuthering Heights with its own little twist. Quick read A cute quick read. Hollywood King could use a little depth in the characters. This is similar to a novella. So a quick happy romance... This is for you.
