The book I'm currently reading is called Red, White & True Blue Mallory by Laurie B. Friedman. This book is just like Laurie's other book, Heart-Heart With Mallory. Mallory has a crush on a boy named, C-Lo ( Carlos ) in her class, but the bad news is that she thinks he doesn't like her back. Mallory thinks he doesn't like her because Mary Ann has a crush on him too and she does literally, everything with him. In the part of the book that I am on, she is starting to wonder if Mary Ann is still her best friend. My opinion about this book so far is that its kind of good kind of bad. Here are the reasons why it is good. #1, it is a good story-line and such. #2, (to some people this is good or bad) you actually learn some facts about things in Washington. This is the bad things list now. #1, the pages are now "Dear Martha" instead of dear diary. It is dear Martha because Mallory's teacher, Mr. Knight, gave the class journals to write in for facts and other stuff. Of corse, Mallory thought that dear journal sounded wrong so she named her journal, Martha. And as you can probably tell, I do not really like books that has Dear... every page.

This is book number 11 in the Mallory series. I had never heard of them before this book. In thsi book, Mallory takes a class trip to Washington, D.C. She is so excited to be sharing this trip with her best friend Mary Ann. However, she finds that Mary Ann is spending the trip with her new boyfriend. Mallory is supposed to keep a journal of her trip and all of her experiences. This was an okay book with some okay historical information. I am recommending it to a friend who teaches fourth grade. I think her kids will really like it.

I read this to my 2nd grader and pre-school daughters. They are fans of this series and my 2nd grader enjoys the "Dear diary" style of writing. Not only does this touch on the dynamics of friendship but I appreciate that it listed interesting places to visit in D.C. To summarize, Mallory and her class take a trip to Washington D.C. Her partner is her best friend Mary Ann, who happens to take interest in a boy during the trip. I like the character, Mallory. She has a whole series. This story focuses on a field trip to Washington, D.C. There are some great tie ins to the curriculum. Although,... it is really a girl story with best friend troubles.

I like this book, you learn about not getting mad about your BF, or other people. I got sick of hearing the word "My loose tooth" though. But other than that it's a good book. The Mallory Series should have a place in kid's books just like Judy Moody. I like this book, you learn about not getting mad about your BF, or other people.
