This was really good! I was really impressed with how there were actually two romances going on in this book, which given the constrains of category lines, is very hard to do. There was definitely backstory missing for me since I haven't read the other books in this series, but it didn't negatively effect my reading too much. And as ever, I am a sucker when the hero is the one who has to rearrange his life for the sake of a relationship. This was really good! Off Limits Lovers is a sensual, sexy and forbidden-ish story that I simply adored. I loved Annabel and Roark, they complemented each other well. I also loved the suspense/mystery element mixed in with family drama. I definitely have plans to read the previous books in the series and those that haven't been released as it. I recommend this book to one and all. Copy provided by author Off Limits Lovers is a sensual, sexy and forbidden-ish story that I simply adored. Ryder Currin has had an on again/off again relationship with Angela Perry through the last few books in the series. The biggest hurdle they face is Angela’s father Sterling’s belief that Ryder had an affair with Angela’s mother before she died, and that Angela’s brother Roarke may actually be Ryder’s son. Ryder has sworn that his relationship with Angela’s mother was friendship only, but do they have enough trust and faith in each other to move past their hurts and get their happy ending? For Angela’s brother Roarke Perry, his return home to help clear his father Sterling’s name from accusations of running a Ponzi scheme is meant to be a short visit, until he meets friendly and vivacious Annabel Currin, Ryder’s daughter. There are all sorts of complications to his attraction to Annabel. She’s just broken off her engagement, she’s younger than him, and her father Ryder is Sterling’s enemy (and could be his father?!). Plus Roarke has taken on her legal case against her ex to recoup money spent on their non-wedding. With Roarke planning to return home to Dallas, and all the complications of getting involved with Annabel, will he trust his heart over his head? As one can see, the Currin and the Perry families have some pretty complicated relationships! It’s not just the issue of who is Roarke’s father (a mystery cleared up quickly with a DNA test). Sterling is also bitter that Ryder inherited some oil rich land he felt he deserved that has caused all sorts of bitter feelings between them. This makes the two couples – Angela and Ryder, and Roarke and Annabel – have a lot to sort through and to really think about whether their feelings are strong enough to outlast the gossip and give them a strong basis for real partnerships. At the beginning of the story, I had to draw some mental family trees to sort out all the characters and it would have been helpful to have those included at the start with the number of people getting page time. That said, I thoroughly enjoyed both of the romances! I’d seen some of Ryder and Angela’s story already so it was nice to see their romance come to a fitting and sweet conclusion. As for Roarke and Annabel, their careers play as much a part of the story as does the previously described family drama. Roarke has been happy in Dallas where he works as a lawyer for the underprivileged. Annabel is a fashion vlogger planning to open her own consignment shop with makeover services. Having both grown up in wealthy households, they have the common goal of giving back to their communities. If Roarke is going to move home to Houston, he’ll have to find something else to do, and the possibility of being an ethics lawyer for his father’s company to clean house is tempting. As he and Annabel grow closer, they also share some sexy scenes together. But when Annabel makes some decisions that affect Roarke’s future, he has to decide what he really wants. Fortunately they find their way to a very satisfying ending. I have to add that I loved the cover of this story, it’s just how I pictured Roarke and Annabel! There is a little more detail about the murder that has taken place at the Cattleman’s Club that is a continuing story arc through the series, with more still to come. In all, it’s a sexy and enjoyable double romance and I look forward to reading more about these families! This review also appears at Harlequin Junkie: https://harlequinjunkie.com/review-of... “I received a review copy from author and I voluntarily provided an honest review. This does not affect the opinion of the book or the content of the review." This book was such an enjoyable read. Even though I started the series in the middle I didn’t feel lost or confused as I read. I like the main characters Roarke and Annabel and the whole forbidden love aspect. They have good chemistry and I loved the banter between the couple as well. I enjoyed reading about the secondary characters as well. “I received a review copy from author and I voluntarily provided an honest review. This does not affect the opinion of the book or the content of the review." Reese Ryan has become one of my go to authors and I have enjoyed so many of her books past and present. Can we talk about that gorgeous cover as well? But anyway if you pick up this book you won’t be disappointed!

Off Limits Lovers is the sixth book in the Texas Cattleman’s Club: Houston series. This is my first time reading this series, so I can definitely say it is a standalone read. The series consists of nine books, written by nine different authors. Each book has its own main hero and heroine, but you see characters from previous and future books make appearances. The series has a story arc of revenge and murder, but at its heart it is a contemporary romance. In order to get the full depth of the arc Off Limits Lovers is the sixth book in the Texas Cattleman’s Club: Houston series. In order to get the full depth of the arc, it’s better to start the series at the beginning with Hot Texas Nights by Janice Maynard and read forward. Each book reveals more information to help you figure out who the villain is. I was worried about not reading the previous books but immediately I was drawn into Off Limits Lovers by Reese Ryan. There was enough information for me to get an overall idea of what has been happening with the characters central to the series storyline. Roarke Perry and Annabel Currin are the hero and heroine of this forbidden romance. Both are extremely likeable characters. Seriously, the cover for this book could definitely be a picture of them. Upon first meeting, these two share an immediate attraction. In fact, days later they are still thinking about each other. Things get a little complicated when they find out who the other is. Annabel is the daughter of Ryder Currin, the man his older sister is dating, as well as the man his father despises. Add to that, Annabel has just broken up with her fiance weeks before their large, overly expensive wedding. In fact, upon learning who Roarke is, Annabel asks him to represent her in a suit against her ex-fiance. Annabel might be young but she is nothing if not resourceful. There is a long list of reasons for these two not to get together but Annabel knows that Roarke is different from anyone she’s ever met before. For his part, Roarke has a million reasons, all of them valid, to not be with Annabel. Outside of the fact their fathers hate each other, there's the matter of her being his client and the fact that she lives in Houston and he lives in Dallas. Roarke isn’t looking for a relationship. He owns his own law firm in Dallas where he’s a champion for the underdog or those who can’t afford legal services. His job is his life. Roarke and Annabel have this playful banter between them. They immediately want what’s best for one another. I love that they manage to understand and balance each other. As well as being drawn to the characters of Roarke and Annabel, I was equally drawn to the secondary characters too. I was especially intrigued by Maya Currin, Annabel’s younger adopted sister. She definitely has a story that needs to be told, and I think that story plays into the overall arc of this series. Off Limits Lovers continues with the scandal of Sterling Perry, Roarke’s father, being accused of running a Ponzi Scheme through his company Perry Holdings, and the mystery of determining the identity of the body discovered at the building site of the upcoming Houston chapter of the Texas Cattleman’s Club. These two issues do get resolved in this story. However, who killed the victim is still in question. The villain of this series appears via a monologue and sheds some light as to why the Currin and Perry families seem to be having problems of late. That monologue really has me wanting to read more of this series. **Received a copy of the book from the author and voluntarily reviewed.**

I received an A.R.C. in return for a fair review. This is the first book I've read in the TEXAS CATTLEMAN'S CLUB: HOUSTON series, and I am here to tell you that you can absolutely read this as a stand alone novel. That's because Reese Ryan can do more character development in 20 pages, than most people can do in a 300 page book. There are story arcs that run over from earlier books, but Reese deftly explains their origins, so you don't feel left out of the narrative. That's because Reese Ryan can do more character development in 20 pages, than most people can do in a 300 page book. There are story arcs that run over from earlier books, but Reese deftly explains their origins, so you don't feel left out of the narrative. This book is chock-full of juicy plot twists, walks on the beach, forbidden romance, fashionable galas, and long-held family hatreds. Otherwise, a soapy delight! It's an enemies to lovers romance, with Roarke Perry and Annabel Currin as our two main characters (MC's). Their fathers are bitter rivals, so of course their children are attracted to each other ;) Roarke is a civil defense lawyer who represents underserved clients, and Annabel is a fashion blogger with dreams of opening a vintage clothing store that includes space to give full makeovers to underprivileged women trying to reenter the workplace. Their desire to help others is one of their main attractions to each other. That, and they are both smokin' hot. I mean LOOK at this gorgeous cover! I love that Reese treats the world of fashion blogging seriously, showing you what kind of work goes in to making and producing content and videos. I love the banter between the two MC's. It's teasing, sexy, and snappy. Most importantly, it feels very real. The families of the two MC's are very fleshed out (with some of them appearing in their own books earlier in this series). Reese Ryan excels at writing fascinating, complex family drama, so it's no surprise that she delivers again. My one criticism is that I had a hard time believing Annabel, who was engaged to another man but a few days ago (with the wedding being only 2 months away), could have her feelings turn around so fast towards Roarke. The time from her engagement ending to her first kiss with Roarke is 3 days. And the time until he asks her to marry him is a few weeks. I understand why this has to happen, in order for the narrative arc of the 9 book series to flow properly, but I had a hard time believing that she'd be ready for a new relationship so quickly. She was with the other man for 2 (or was it 3?) years. And they were two months away from being married. She had her wedding dress for goodness sakes. That usually requires weeks, or months, to grieve what you've lost; at least in my personal experience. Overall, I really enjoyed my look into the world of the TEXAS CATTLEMAN'S CLUB: HOUSTON series. Reese Ryan's writing has me invested in all the secondary characters, so much so that I've gone back to the beginning of the series and started reading from book one! I HAVE TO KNOW HOW WE GOT HERE AND THEN WHAT HAPPENS IN THE NEXT BOOKS!!! So, job well done Reese, you've sucked me in. Is there a bigger compliment for a writer? p.s. I've never had or heard of Lemon Icebox Pie or Texas Pecan Fudge Pie, but oh boy, do I ever want to try them after reading about them in this book -- yummy!

Mind you, Annabel has just ended a 2-year relationship and engagement and yet she's ready to jump into another one, very quickly. She's a lot more aggressive than I like my heroines, especially when the hero has told her he's only in town for a short while and isn't interested in any type of romantic relationship. This doesn't stop Annabel. It also doesn't stop her from proclaiming it's not a rebound relationship even when she's confronted by her friend and future sister-in-law, Frankie. The other story features Annabel's father, Ryder and Roarke's sister, Angela. The author really drives home the love story Ryder shared with his long dead wife Elinah (mother of Annabel), so much so that I wished she was still alive and living her best life. So, I felt some type of way with him finding love within a couple of months with the daughter of his sworn and long-time enemy, Sterling. In fact, I don't know too many people who would actually date the enemy of such a close family member. I was intrigued by the mystery surrounding Annabel's younger adopted sister, Maya related to her parentage. This story is part of Texas Cattleman's Club: Houston and there is a mystery that is yet to be resolved, this is just one episode of many, by various authors. Lastly, the heroine has braids! I loved the book cover! Read It!

It was my first Reese Ryan (obviously won't be my last!) and even if I didn't read the other books in the Texas Cattleman's Club series (each book written by a different author), I had no trouble following and entering this glamorous world. The MC were both charming people with big heart. I especially appreciated how honest Annabel was with the hero. Usually, classy guys tend to come off as too serious or too show off but Roarke was genuinely humble. Their chemistry was a mix of flirty, friendly and affectionate vibe that I really liked!

This was such soapy fun! I couldn’t put it down and while it could be over the top in places (especially toward the end), I didn't mind for the most part. And Annabel, smart as she is, somehow didn’t realize she was about to marry an absolute snake so it’s a good thing he broke off their engagement when she decided she wanted to open a business and didn't consult him at all. I mean, she really should have talked about her plans for her dream job—that's a major sign it wasn't a good relationship. But in any case, that frees her up for Roarke. Now I will say this story had a major ethical violation so it’s a miracle I liked the rest of the story enough to still give it 4 stars. Because this is a huge no-no: Ryder agrees to be Annabel’s lawyer and this means they cannot have a relationship. He says it’s his personal code of ethics but, uh, that’s the actual code of ethics for lawyers. So the moment he agreed to represent Annabel, sleeping together was off the table. There’s the slightest gray area because she did kissed him prior to asking him to represent her but I still don’t think that would fly before most licensing boards. Also, he resists her and then just caves without ever having a discussion about whether he should still represent her as her lawyer. (No, he should not.) I tried to research to see if lawyers have different rules around ethics in Texas but I couldn’t find anything. This also ended with a proposal grovel, which I loathe. Especially since they’ve only known each other a couple of weeks. Like COME ON. Just date for a while. Prove you’re worthy of winning her back, Roarke. Hold off on any proposals for a while. Despite all that, I did really enjoy the ride. This is interesting because a bunch of authors are writing this series together so it would be interesting to see how each other builds the major arc and takes on the various characters. I don’t read much category romance so I doubt I’ll read the rest but I did want to note this for those who are interested. CW: ethical violation (lawyer dating client), heroine’s mother died of cancer, grief, hero’s mother died in a car crash his senior year of high school, pregnant side character, cheating ex, paternity test to prove hero’s mother did not cheat on his father, ableist language (insane), references to off-page adopted side character wants to know her birth parents (adopted father promised her biological grandfather not to reveal the family’s identity), murder

Plus, Annabel was just getting out of an engagement from her no-good fiance. She was trying to figure out a way to keep Roark in Houston. She could not bare to live a life without him and she nor he wanted a long-distance relationship. When her attempts to keep him in town blew up, she realized that he was honest from the beginning and decided to cut her losses. They were both miserable without each other and Roark realized that she was right, that he was scared, but what made him even more scared was living his life without his " Lemon Ice" in it. And she definitely wanted her "Two Pies." This was a story about how two families overcame their contentious relationship with the heads of the families over jealousy and hatred, to come together by letting love guide them to discover that they are stronger together than they ever were apart, and in the process heal a father and son relationship.

Not only did Reese Ryan put a great spin on Roarke’s and Annabel’s story it’s also a secondary couple in the mix with a great storyline. “Off Limits Lovers” is book #6 in Texas Cattleman’s Club: Houston and the first book that I’ve read in the series. I was able to follow both couples’ storyline and was satisfied with the ending. Reese Ryan put her foot in this novel and has me wanting to read the whole Texas Cattleman club: Houston series.

Annabel Currin has a lot more going for her than just her money as the daughter of a successful oil family. She's sweet, she's sassy, and she's determined to make life better for others. I recommend this book to anyone looking for family drama, secret scandals and scintillating romance! Really enjoying the Houston sub-series of the Texas Cattleman's Club as a whole, and the individual books so far have all been delightful. Looking forward to more to come!

A chance meeting in Farrah's Coffee Shop started it all and Lemon icebox and Texas pecan fudge pie could only think of each other. Both said they were only in it for the time being the heart wants what it wants

Annabel knew what she wanted from the relationship but Roarke, due to past family issues, was running scared. However, love prevails. Ms. Ryan has written another great book which includes love as well as the mystery that is surrounding the Texas Cattleman's Club which makes you want to read the rest of the series. I also loved the playfulness between the couple and their nicknames for each other from their first meeting. This is definitely a recommended book.

I love the premise of Annabelle’s Fairy Godmother business and she is truly written as a selfless, rich girl, not a spoiled, rotten one. I cannot wait to read the next installment.... the mystery of Vincent Hamm’s murder and the ‘lost’ child (my guess is that it’s Maya Currin) but that’s just a guess..

Warring families, a father determined to destroy the man he believes stole his wife's love, to lose his daughter to as well. A son that always felt alone and a spirited young woman doing what is right for her. A drama on the printed page, better than a soap opera, but definately allows the imagination to soar. The characters definitely draw you in, the drama is not gutrenching which is why I dont get into TV. Although the story doesnt quite have an ending it's not a cliffhanger. Off Limits Lovers by Reese Ryan. This is Roark and Annabel story. Roark is back to defend his fatger. Annabel has just broken up with her fiancée. They see each other and it's love at first sight. From the beginning they were attracted to each other but when they find out their fathers are enemies. I love this story, I live the characters. It's good to see them overcome all the problems of the past and find love. Sometimes you just can't let the one get away. The story drew me in and now I need Off Limits Lovers by Reese Ryan. There is loads going on in this book so you are captivated from the start to see what is true as well as what isn't and how the fall out from the truths will affect everyone. The fact that this isn't just about Annabel and Roarke but also others within their family draws you further in and there is more than one couple and relationship on the line! This was a great read and can't wait to read more in the series as well as by Reese Ryan. 2.5 if I could. If the author had stuck with more of the star crossed lover theme, I would have been on board. Lawyer/client is a big problem I just can’t get beyond. I know this is smack dab in the middle of a world, and it shows because it doesn’t work as a stand alone. There are too many plot lines tangling to follow any through to a satisfying end. The inter-workings of father-in-law being also brother-in-law just didn’t do it for me. I’m sure this author has other good books, there was just 2.5 if I could. He's a lawyer and she is a just jilted bride. By right they should have no contact what so ever especially since their families have been in a bitter feud since forever and she is his client! This story shows why Ms. Ryan is just such an amazing author. The characters have the best chemistry ever and her stories are written so that you can get a complete story. Although apparently this book is apart of a series, it doesn't read like one and can definitely be read as a stand alone, unless you just need to know about some of the other characters. A very well written story with surprises and laughs sprinkled throughout. It also has some life nuggets in the story as well. Good Job This story shows why Ms. Ryan is just such an amazing author. Grabbed From The Beginning Until The End! 🤗 This was a great story about love overcoming all obstacles, especially something like a family rivalry! I loved how Annabel and Roarke were drawn together and just melded! Didn’t realize it was going to end the way it did! Reese Ryan did an excellent job with this story! Highly Recommended! Now have to find out what happens from here! Highly Recommended! Kudos, Reese! 💜😑

Another great book in the TCC Houston series. This book is about Annabel being dumped before her wedding because she wants to do something for herself and Mitch doesn't want her to be anything but a society wife. She runs into Roarke at the coffee shop and is taken by him immediately. They are each other again at a charity event. He agrees to be her lawyer. They are so close and they start seeing each other but when Annabel tried to manipulate a situation to keep him in Houston, he is angry.. Bu Another great book in the TCC Houston series. Annabel and Roarke meet and have a strong attraction but since their father's are somewhat enemies they are off limits. This is a complicated story with two couple's trying to find their way to having a relationship with someone that may or may not be accepted by their families.
