E. B. Few know this better than warriors Brad McLanahan and Nadia Rozek. Newly married, the two are just beginning to settle into their life together when they are called back into action. Though the Russians were badly defeated by Brad and the Iron Wolf Squadron in their previous bid for world dominance, they are back and doubling down on their quest for control of outer space. In addition to their cutting-edge weaponry, they have a formidable new ally: China’s energetic and ruthless leader, President Li Jun. To protect America and the rest of the free world from the Russians and the Chinese, the Americans plan to mine the moon’s helium-3 resources, which will allow them to fully exploit the revolutionary fusion power technology Brad and his team captured from the Russians aboard the Mars One weapons platform. But Russia’s minister of defense, Mikhail Leonov, and Li have devised a daring plan of their own. They are building a joint secret base on the moon’s far side fortified with a powerful Russian plasma rail gun that can destroy any spacecraft entering lunar orbit. If the heavily armed base becomes operational, it will give America’s enemies control over the world’s economic and military future.  As this latest skirmish in the war for space accelerates, Brad, Nadia, and their compatriots in the Space Force must use their cunning and skill—and America’s own high-tech weaponry—to derail the Sino-Russian alliance and destroy their lunar site before it’s too late for the United States . . . and the entire world.

Another exciting thriller from the Brad and Patrick McLanahan series by Dale Brown. I always enjoy the technical possibilities and realities that Dale Brown presents in his books. This specific book imagines a military action in space and on the moon. Looking forward to more in the series.

Eagle Station reminds me of a modernized Moonraker 007 film in book form. Picking up where the last book left off, the USA in partnership with Sky Masters and Scion are playing catch-up in a space race against a China-Russia partnership to set up a moon base. There's a ton of action from start to finish - on the ground, in the air and in outer space. The book never lets up. I was intrigued to get this book, based on the idea of the development of a US Space Force, which has been in development in reality since 2018. This fictional story takes us through a presupposed situation where instead of the world working together to develop space exploration and development, we have the usual infighting conflict. A little background them of the story, has to do with Patrick Maclaughlin, who is one of the current people in charge of a specially designed technologically military mercenary group, which takes on jobs that are denied plausibility because of all the regulations to get the process in motion. He started this company because of what happened to his brother Paul and the lack of effective performance of the police, who were hindered by politics to do their job. A very apropos idea in today's 2020 atmosphere. In this novel, his son, Brad, and new wife Nadia are now part of the company, which has been tasked by the president to find out what the Russian and Chinese have combined resources to do on their supposed lunar "explorations" on the far side of the moon. This is after the occurrence of an interspace attack that resulted in the US Space Force taking control of the space station that the Russians had built a special laser gun that works defensively in space against attackers, which had been built by the Russians to control space. Now after the Americans have gained control of the space station, the Russians and the Chinese decide to combine resources to develop whatever is needed to establish a defensible station on the moon, whose resources they wish to control. It was fascinating to both descriptions of possible living habitats and creative defensive programs that could be used in an airless environment in a low gravity state. We already have the technology (remember the Space Shuttles), to fly to space and return with the same ship, we are just, thanks to private entrepreneurs, developed the ability to have returnable rockets that boost ships past the earth's gravity. This book discusses the use of our current technology, plus takes the dream potential aim for space exploration a bit further, but how else do we advance new ideas by taking it past the drawing stage. In this fictionalized story, we have already achieved the technology even if it hasn't undergone all the testing to perfect it and it is used to take astronauts/ cosmonauts/ taiconauts back to the moon to both live and defend and attack each other, while under the full knowledge that one mistake means death. The possibility of this become reality made this novel a great read.

This military thriller is filled with fancy flying and shooting, a heart-stopping series of flights to the moon and lunar battles, and tons of military technology and gizmos. The action is intense interspersed with background dialogue, intrigue, and misdirection. The Russian and Chinese military and political characters are rather two-dimensional when compared with McLanahan and his team of hot-shot flyers and shooters. Nevertheless, the lulls in action provide an opportunity to take a deep breath before the shooting begins again. The lunar flights, fights, and adventure is intense, as is the space race with the Sino-Russian team of cosmonauts and taikonauts. The US Space Force gets to try their skills as they team up with Scion and Sky Masters to keep the moon free from military dominance. Brown has his flight and cybernetic technology down pat. It's easy to believe these military actions are really happening. Fortunately, this one is set a few years into the future. The perfect story for this Memorial Day weekend and lazy summer days. When America decides to begin mining Helium-3 on the moon, China and Russia decide they must band together to stop American dominance. The China/Russian coalition doesn't want to tip their hand so they move manpower and supplies to the dark side of the moon where their efforts are not easily discovered. Private sector defense companies have enhanced fighting capabilities but outer space has not been explored. Lagging behind, the American government races to catch up. What comes next is a nail-bit When America decides to begin mining Helium-3 on the moon, China and Russia decide they must band together to stop American dominance. Private sector defense companies have enhanced fighting capabilities but outer space has not been explored. Lagging behind, the American government races to catch up. What comes next is a nail-biting story about re-developing a space program. Even though manufacturing techniques are much more advanced, it is difficult to gear up for lunar manufacturing. Dale Brown has written a book that balances politics, private-sector space efforts, and lunar development into an engrossing tale. He weaves SpaceX, Space Force, and the military into a powerful group that manages to keep America safe and strong. The level of detail and description he provides in this book is impressive and it is obvious that Dale Brown has spent considerable time researching. Fans of military/space thrillers will enjoy this book. It will keep you on the edge of your seat.

It's to Brown's credit that I understood what the issues were. The inclusion of two good, entertaining characters such as Nadia and Brad, kept me engaged even when I got a little lost in the techno parts. Thanks to Edelweiss for the ARC, This is a plot driven action ride that would be a perfect travel book but for now will be great at home.

Brad McLanahan goes to the moon... after Russia & PRC In a techno thriller that is eerily possible, the Russians & Chinese team up to seize the moon. Their problem is America sends Brad McLanahan to reprise his father’s legendary exploits. This is a fun book to lose one self in, a fine addition to the Dale Brown series. “Eagle Station by Dale Brown, is a military thriller set on Earth, the moon, and in space. There is a lot of technical and military jargon, but the solid story kept my interest. I can totally see this book as a movie. Lovers of military and space fiction, this one is for you. I thank the author and publisher, William Morrow, for the advanced copy I received from Goodreads Giveaways.

AS usual, Dale Brown's book is superb! I love that I can just pick up the novel and it follows suit from the prior novel without missing a beat, though it's been quite a while. The story-line was excellent, as was the expertise in which it was presented. I found everything good about this book and no-fault. Cannot wait until the next edition!!

Even though this thriller involves going thousands of miles through enemy territory to save some spies or flying to the moon to fight the Chinese and Russians, it is in my mind a better read than some of Brown's latest works. Everyone wants a winner and who wins more that a father and son team with the last name McLanahan.
