I love absolutely everything about this series! It was really lovely. The meeting the parents was lovely, and getting to see them getting into their domestic life together is truly a joy. Their relationship is very healthy, and I am so excited to see the depiction of such a healthy and realistic relationship.

Another adorable adventure into the life of the best couple in Manga. Together this time they get to visit her family and hilarity begins. Watching him try to measure her father with both respect and being a nice guy is great. The idea of them agreeing to go apartment hunting is so real I remember doing the same thing nearly 10 years ago. The life of two people clearly very much inlove dealing with getting closer together with such respect and realistic moments makes this series a must read. Asako and Kotaro navigate the holiday season, from a thrown-together Christmas to a New Year’s celebration that doubles as a ‘meet the parents’ event. With Kotaro’s lease up soon, however, the lingering question of where they’re going to live hovers in the air... If you like Sweat & Soap, fear not, it remains as compelling as ever this time around, continuing to eschew most high drama for more realistic scenarios and two great leads in a terrifically healthy relationship. If you like Sweat & Soap, fear not, it remains as compelling as ever this time around, continuing to eschew most high drama for more realistic scenarios and two great leads in a terrifically healthy relationship. These two are a delight together. That’s not to say they’re perfect - this volume goes a long way to humanizing Kotaro from just being ‘perfect boyfriend with a kink’. It’s exactly enough nuance to make him an even better character (also he has surprisingly robust knowledge about tea). It turns out that he’s been keeping something not insignificant from Asako this entire time. While not a deal-breaker (although it can be, as we see), it is something that most of us would look at as ‘so what?’, but I feel would be a potentially huge thing for some Japanese people. Him coming clean and her reaction to it feels like a big moment for the two of them. For her part, we really see how far Asako has come since the first volume. She’s gained a lot of confidence and, while she remains a quiet character, she is not to be trifled with. The very amusing apartment hunt shows a real estate agent learning this to his peril. There’s genuinely not much wrong with this volume. I think it’s not as strong as it’s ever been, but it’s still a terrific read with a great cast and a unique relationship for a manga. It’s a series worth celebrating. 4 stars, no caveats. This book is like manga feng shui. It balances the sweet, the spicy (Asako is REALLY into tying neckties), the poignant (the scene with Asako’s mom when everybody heads home feels like a universal truth, plus the best cat), the informative, and the funny in a near-perfect balance. Truly one of the best romances going right now.

I love this series so, so much! I love Kotaro and Asako apart, but I absolutely adore them together and seeing them grow together just makes me soooo happy! This volume was so sweet! It had the characteristic smelling jokes like usual, and as always, it was also full of so much heart! Super excited to see where this series goes next and to see Kotaro and Asako grow even more together! 🥰💖

This includes, actually taking the time to find a place that fits what each of them wants, thanks to some helpful advice from Asako's Chief Supervisor, and telling their families of their plans, and preparing for their reaction to the news. This volume earned not just 5 stars, but all of them. My only question is when is the next volume coming out? I need it yesterday.

While the apartment hunting chapter wasn't too interesting, Natori meeting Asako's family more than made up for it. Not only that, Okura coming in clutch and offering advice was so sweet and in keeping with his caring character. Natori and Asako continue to be one of the best couples in anime/ manga currently and the artwork was equal parts charming and amusing. 4.5 ★ I really enjoyed seeing them take the next steps in their relationship. I particularly enjoyed the scene where they were inspecting an apartment and the real estate agent mentioned that “even in your most everyday, casual moments, you’ll be able to communicate.” It really seemed to be the biggest selling point to them. I think that’s very telling of their relationship.

2021 Read #39 I like the stabilization of the relationship between Asako and Kotaro, but there was an awful lot of “adulting” in this volume that bored me a tad. But it’s still a great series portraying a couple with a healthy relationship!

These two are relationship goals. It's official, I'm a huge fan. Kotaro and Asako are so straightforward and sweet. It's been awhile since I've read a romance that didn't have a dark side. LOL The bittersweet scene of Asako’s parents after their children leave made me want to cry because it’s so real. But instead of experiencing it from the eyes of a parent, I feel that way every time I come home from visiting family. I love Maro-chan the cat and the fact that Kotaro has to impress him as well. Yeah, I don’t have any complaints about this one! I wish I could say on to volume six, but it’s January 27th and Amazon is telling me it doesn’t come out until March 16th. Rude. SAFETY (view spoiler)[ Age: Asako - 26; Kotaro - 30 Sexual History: Neither are virgins, though Asako’s only ever been with Kotaro. Kotaro has three rather brief relationships under his belt, that we know of, anyway (more info about them in my review of volume 3). In this volume we learn that after Kotaro told his most recent girlfriend (the one who works in the same building) about his blind mother, he overheard her speaking to a coworker about basically what a burden it would be if she had to take care of her after marriage. This is the ex that he didn’t make time for and who broke up with him after three months. You know, speaking of this ex in particular, I’m really surprised that since she presumably still works in the same building that she hasn’t appeared in the present day. Maybe she still will, or maybe she doesn’t work there anymore. We’ll see! Condoms: I assume they’re using them, though it’s never confirmed. HEA/HFN: HFN (view spoiler)[ Goings-on include a Christmas Eve date, Kotaro meeting Asako’s parents, and Asako meeting long-time customers of Kotaro’s family tea plantation. At this point, Kotaro has told his family about Asako off-page and there’s an open invitation for her to go meet them. However, that takes the backseat to them finding an apartment since the busy season is coming up. The volume ends with Asako and Kotaro signing the lease on their future apartment. brother… the feeelings this manga gives me are just unmatched. I will keep talking about the relationship dynamics between Asako and Kotaro because they’re so grounded and cute together, Kintetsu manages to create a rather fantastical and romantic idea of a couple while also keeping it realistic most of the time; it’s simply the perfect balance. the little arcs are funny and heart warming; yes, the apartment hunting arc was rly funny in a weird and relatable way which is weird cuz i’ve never been brother… the feeelings this manga gives me are just unmatched. Ah, this series keeps getting better with each volume! Our blossoming couple celebrates their first Christmas together and Asako invites Natori over for the New Years. I love their little scenes together and the ending was perfect and really sets up for a lovely start to the next volume. If you haven't read this series, then why would you be reading this?! It's still a solid, wonderful, sweet manga and even with all of the glorious fan service (Chief Ookura in the shower!? yes, yes please) it's a very smart and mature in the way it handles the serious stuff (marriage, moving in together, meeting parents). I really appreciate this and am so glad I found a romance for someone like me. If you haven't read this series, then why would you be reading this?! This continues to be the story about Asako and Kotaro Natori's relationship. These two just keep growing in their relationship, and I love them. They celebrate Christmas and New Year's together, and Kotaro meets Asako's family. And they get closer to finding an apartment together. (and the real estate guy thought he was going to pull a fast one! Little did he know!). It's great. I love them! Cannot wait for the next installment! Kotaro and Asako are moving along the track for many couples and are looking at moving in together. For me, the most stirring moments were when they won over the real estate agent, and also Asako‘s relationship with her father (but 1. I cry over everything and 2. I miss my dad so...). That being said, I think the two previous volumes were the most winning for me.

This series remains a top favorite for me. There’s no unnecessary drama and the characters grow together. It’s such a breath of fresh air to see them actually talk about what’s going on rather than allow misunderstanding to constantly move the story forward. I’m so glad it wasn’t just a one shot.
