Simplified explanation of a frightening process As a first time Medicare purchaser, this guide has given me some valuable information. Of course, the proof is in the pudding, so it is said. I will update after I dive into the murky waters of government websites and attempt to get this foul job done.

If you're like me and knew nothing about the Medicare system, then this is a great book. My mother will soon be of an age where Medicare is going to be a part of her life. I do feel more comfortable now in helping her with options. If you're like me and knew nothing about the Medicare system, then this is a great book. Now I can use my DVR to skip the Medicare ads! Thanks for the information. This is what my insurance agent told me to buy. My agent purchases the same policies that this book recommends.

Good book. Just what I needed to know about Medicare. The insurance people never mentioned the HDG plan. First drink of the month to the author.

For full disclosure, I am a licensed Medicare insurance broker in Minnesota, and do not consider myself a “leech”. Very little of the major themes in this book are true in our state, and some in any state. First, you do not lose any of your Medicare benefits when you sign up for an Advantage plan, they just come from the insurance company. Also, you get benefits over and above those offered by Medicare, or a Supplement plan, like dental, vision and hearing aids. Also, you get benefits over and above those offered by Medicare, or a Supplement plan, like dental, vision and hearing aids. Unlike claims made by the author, some plans have as robust a dental benefit as any you could buy outside the plan. Supplements in Minnesota are community rated, which means everybody pays the same premium no matter what age you are. This makes them rather expensive for someone starting on Medicare and in good health, compared to a lower cost Advantage plan. They are a very good option for those with preexisting conditions or many health care issues, since there are no I-SNPS available in Minnesota. In my opinion, although the author gives some good information about Medicare insurance, it is just pure laziness in not putting in the work to learn about all the Medicare Advantage options, that leads him to only recommend Supplements.
