It seems to me that this book was created with a lot of love and joy, and it’s obvious that the author really enjoys creating such wonderful stories. Thank you for sharing with us the gift that you have obviously worked so hard to refine. We’ll be looking forward to seeing what’s coming next. A well-deserved five stars from us.

Being new and discovering friends Kelly Curtiss has created a terrific new children’s book series that is not only beautifully illustrated and written in excellent rhyming format, it also carries a fine way to explain the feelings of being a ‘newbie’ in situations. Her mother said “You’ll soon go out, see what the world is all about.’ Elly can’t wait for time to pass so she sneaks out one morning to see for herself. She meets ‘strange’ animals – a lion, a giraffe, a monkey – and Elly discovers new friends who are not at all strange, but friendly! Elly returns home, and dreams about her new friends she has discovered as the new one in the neighborhood. Not only is the book entertaining, but also the lesson presented is excellent – being new offers the opportunity to connect and make friends. Recommended.

I debated long and hard on this review. What finally made me decide was that we are suppose to give an "honest" review. So here I go. Elly's mother told her she can explore the world when she was older. She had to sneak out if the house after dark. She also had to sneak back in while they were still sleeping. She might be an elephant and the point of the story was she met her new friends, and that part is absolutely perfect. I just can't do the sneaking out of the house. In Elly Elephant's First Day a young baby elephant sneaks out at night to explore the world. She meets several animals and then returns home before her parents awake. The book is short and lacks a good plot and needs to be expanded to tell more of a story. The illustrations are excellent but not every illustration has text with it. This is a cute story but feels like the author could do more with it to make it better. In Elly Elephant's First Day a young baby elephant sneaks out at night to explore the world.
