When Penalty Box was published,i can not wait to get my hand on this book. I remember i had such good memory of tje first book in the series. Now i am left disappointed. Dont get me wrong, Penalty Box has many potential to be a good book. What does not click with me is how the plot executed. The first half of the book was great. Then somehow it goes downhill from there. The plot becomes so weak and meak. Unnecessary plot being added and secondary characters make everything confusing. Its just not burning hot for me though. There are moments i can not feel the connection between the hero and the heroine. I still do admire the author talent in writting. She really can write. And because of that i settle with 3 stars. 3 stars

It felt too real, too intense, to be anything but. The Penalty Box is a slow burn marriage of inconvenience (lol) read. Mica and Charlie are reluctant to get fake married to save Mica’s career on the ice, but once they come together they can’t resist the natural attraction they have toward each other. It’s a slow burn, but once they start burning it is HOTTT. I enjoyed this story, because they truly do fall in love during the story. The attraction is quick, but the feelings take some time. So far this one has been my favorite of the Vancouver Wolves Hockey series. I mean... We already established that it is a Hockey romance series with plenty of drama all around and this book is no different, but if you like drama prone hockey stories, you'll like this one as well. I think I liked this one because, my oh my, it has my favorite subject ever, a forced marriage! So yes, I was going to like it! Just sit down and talk people!) and had their goals very clear from the beginning. BUUTT... The drama! OMG! This writer likes the tension... it started with the SWAT scene in the first book and she kept on bringing it with the rest of the books! I won't tell, but you will see it coming if you read this book... And despite all, you will enjoy it (Hopefully?) So yes, overall a good entertaining story, with steam and dirty talk, laughable scenes and cute characters.

I really loved this story!! It's not so original or unique but just done so well. I loved the characters...you got some real depth and development. It seemed realistic. Charlie crushed on him and he didn't take any (sexual) interest in her for two years when she was assistant to his sports agent. Mica was a NHL player who had plenty of easy conquests. I think the hockey parts were brief but set a realistic tone on those long road trips. I loved the secondary characters so much. The twists in the story were many. Hang on. I had to review some just to keep it all straight. So well done, Odette. A nice Canadian story!

I loved it (loved Mica and Charlie!) except for a few tiny things in logic that took me out of the story... (When you have a stalker after you, roaming your property, and you’re a millionaire athlete living in an upscale community, wouldn’t you have security cameras all around your property? Even a Ring doorbell camera would do the trick!) But...ok, that would take care of the suspense angle of this story so you’d just be left with the fake marriage that turns into a love story which I thought was pretty hot... Each story in this series gets a little bit better...although there are still a few little mistakes regarding hockey that a lot of authors seem to make that irk me (if you’re losing 4-2 you’re down by two GOALS, not POINTS. And you’re not jumping over the FENCE, you jump over the BOARDS). But that’s just me. Maybe it would help to have a hockey fan doing the proofreading? Maybe I’m just a nit picker... Still a nice little story with a couple of likable characters, and yeah, it was plenty hot (gotta love a dirty talker) and there was this crazy suspense angle thrown in and it kept me turning the pages. So, a solid 4 1/2 stars.

This is the first book that I have read from Odette Stone. I love a good sports romance book and this one didn’t disappoint. Charlie and Mica were a great couple. The storyline was great. It grabbed you and didn’t let go until it was finished. The suspense, the heat and the drama of this book was breathtaking. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

I don't know why I return time and time again to books about hockey players, seeing as I've never watched a game and am not a fan of the sport, but there's something about them that keep me coming back for more. This Russian enforcer is to die for. I loved his personality in the previous book and am glad he got a story of his own. I really loved the subplot and the mystery kept me intrigued the entire time. I enjoyed watching these characters fall in love as their relationship progressed. Even though this is a common thing in fake marriages, this author made it seem fresh and new. I enjoyed Mica's mom immensely and to what lengths Mica went to show Charlie that she was important and that their marriage was real. My only complaint was in understanding more about the bad guy. I didn't understand his intent and also about why he had what he did in the basement. I cannot wait until the next book. I also hope that Mica's friend (even though he is not a Vancouver Wolves player gets a book too. There was just something about him. This series just keeps getting better and better.

This Russian hockey player is a serious dirty talking alpha (YUM)! He was an interesting character in Home Again and since I liked the first 2 books so much I was fairly certain I would like this one also. I figured out who was behind the mystery in this book right away but the why and the exact circumstances sort of blew my mind! The way these 2 got together might not have been the most believable but the story overall was extremely entertaining and suspenseful enough that I didn’t even care. This character had lots of depth and integrity that never let up allowing those willing to look to see both his value and his potential. Charlie's strength was her core goodness. Yes she was able to face her obstacles like a boss, even when it seemed like they would never let up, but it was her ability to believably not succumb to defeat and become cynical that made her a really well written heroine. Sometime it takes a while to see the connection between a hero and heroine but that was not the case with Mica and Charlie, their relationship had many layers that went beyond the physical from the start. When this couple had their attraction breakthrough the sexual tension that was set off from that point on was excruciating, exciting and full of powerful feelings that could be felt vicariously. Support characters such as Krista, Ryan, Zoey and Mica's mother punctuated this work with a mix of fun and touching moments. This author used her secondary characters fantastically. Ms. Stone's inclusion of an intriguing subplot gave added appeal. Odette Stone is the kind of writer where you pick up one of her books and disappear into the pages. Engaging, she instinctively knows what her characters need to say and what her audience wants to read. This writer has a natural flow to her work that shows in how effortlessly she appears to relate her stories. Don't miss out on The Penalty Box, it is everything you could ask for in a good story! *I was given an advanced copy. All opinions expressed are my own.* *This book can be read as a standalone.*

Odette Stone is a fairly new author and I feel like her books just keep getting better. Something I've noticed in this serious is that in book 1 peripheral characters were not included, which for a sports romance is weird especially because we barely interacted with teammates. She got better about that in book 2. In this book it was more of the same, the only teammate mentioned by name/really interacted with is Ryan. One of my favorite things about sports romances is the team camaraderie and getting invested not only in the H/h, but getting to know the teammates and looking forward to the next player's book. And unfortunately Stone is still falling short on that for me. Other things that would've made this a five star read: I would've liked to have seen a bit more resolution with Mica's family history. His mom was an interesting character and then she just kind of disappeared and had no speaking role after that. Would've been cool to try and reconcile father and son. Also, I feel like it would've been cool to explore Charlie's relationship with her last remaining family member: her mysterious (older?younger?) brother. But honestly this is really close to a five star read for me, I'm just really enjoying Stone's writing style and she ticked a lot of boxes with this one. I'm definitely looking forward to Andrusha's spin off book! I love all things Russian mob so I can't wait for that. I'm also excited about the next book in this series, which will be Krista's (Charlie's boss), but I'm not always the biggest fan of older woman/younger man and I'm pretty sure that's what it's gonna be.

Yeah, I see no problems ahead for these two. *wink, wink* Fortunately, Charlie has always had a bit of a crush on Mica. And Mica, once the deal is sealed, he’s all in. He might not believe in marriage, but he does keep his promises. He is faithful, protective and caring. And the more time he spends around Charlie, the more he starts to really see who she truly is. Theirs is a slow burn read, but once they cross that line, it heats up fast. There is a bit of angst, some drama added with a couple of side characters, and some suspense. It was fast paced, and held my attention throughout. I read it in one sitting. I loved the story being told from both characters point of view. There is no cheating. And they do work through their issues and end up happily married. I can’t wait for the next story.
