If I can name the most common word from this book, it will be the word “hurt”. No, it will be like this: “HURT”. The hero is hurting, hurts others in his life and you hurt reading this. The most fascinating part is hero’s understanding of this word and the way to minimize the pain by working on his life. Talking about addiction, we often say addicts are just weak people. I was happy to not meet even a flinch of this thought in the book. One of a Kind Memoir I Could Not Put Down Honest, riveting writing that captured me on the first page, and held me until the last. It was a roller coaster from start to finish, and I willingly went along for the ride, cheering for the author through every scene. A good, satisfying read.

*I received this book through a Goodreads Giveaway.* Incredible. The only negative comment I have is that the editing could have been better, but never did it detract from the story being told. This is one of those rare books I think everyone should read. I feel many people would be able to relate, if not to the overall story, then at least to the emotions being portrayed. And those who can't relate might learn something from it. Impactful and poignant. I cried both sad and happy tears throughout *I received this book through a Goodreads Giveaway.* Incredible. Impactful and poignant. I cried both sad and happy tears throughout this journey. Too few people understand addiction and I feel the author has beautifully described the various stages and the way they take hold in a person's life. I'm not usually a fan of alternating time frames, but I found it to be the perfect tool to point out the correlations being drawn between past and present. Overall, the writing was engaging and witty, making it hard to put down. The story itself is a whirlwind of emotions right to the end. I would highly recommend this book to anyone, no caveats attached.

This is a very poignant, personal and impactful book; it was hard to put down! It is not your typical book about how a person’s life went off the rails (I mean REALLY off the rails!), and how it got it back on track, its broader and deeper than that. I enjoyed reading it for a number of reasons: 1) it is very well written, it flows well 2) the words are very raw, honest ...and shockingly believable 3) the ending is not what I anticipated at all! Definitely worth a read. If anyone out there is list This is a very poignant, personal and impactful book; it was hard to put down! In every page, you recognize the Rob that many knew - brilliant, self-deprecating, kind, charming... the kind of person that you are grateful to know. In this book, with brutal honesty, Rob has described the parts of him that few of us knew - the unspeakable trauma, the effect that such a trauma can have over a lifetime, and the depth of his addictions - and I’m grateful for the opportunity to know him more. I usually have 5-10 books on my bed stand that I rotate through and keep adding to the pile, I don't typically finish one book then move on but I actually finished this entire book the same night I picked it up I was that invested. He's so open, honest and genuine I feel like I'm one of his pals from the past. Reading to the end was like watching your friend succeed. I hope we all experience the character development this man did. A compelling story I enjoyed the thread of the story very much. At times the writing was sloppy but I understand it was the memoir of a sloppy time so it was understandable. Much of the story rang familiar bells because of location and timeline. The familiarity made the rawness of the story so touching.

Read about half of it and put it down...too many other good books out there and too little time to read about repeated drunken/drugged parties. I know he redeems himself in the end but I just couldn't push through with so many other books I want to read. Haunting and beautiful. The story of how one event can change us forever but doesn’t have to define the rest of our lives. The ups, the downs, the progress, the regression. All told in a heroic memoir of finding inner peace.

It was a good book. There were points I was like omgosh how is he not dead yet. The answer is he was meant for greater things. God wasn't done with him yet. He was meant to tell his story.
