Kidnapped and taken to the winter court Amber suddenly finds herself a part of a whole new world one she never dreamed existed. Cadewyn is the winter king of Wyth and from the very first moment, he feels himself drawn to his new houseguest. He's aware he has to sacrifice her for the greater good but wishes it was otherwise. His feelings naturally deepen the more time he spends around Amber and naturally he feels such guilt especially as he is also withholding the full truth from her to gain her cooperation. Cade fights his feelings his need to protect her conflicting with his ultimate goal. I wasn't much a fan of his blowing hot and cold even though I was aware of the whys I just felt so sorry for Poor Amber. She was such a sweet girl who just wanted someone or something to call home. and the constant push and pull was not fair. This in itself wasn't an incredibly angsty read and if you like the romantic fated mate type of stories this one would definitely be a fit for you. It also could have done with some fleshing out as I wasn't always feeling the emotion between Cade and Amber and some of the scenes and secondary characters were a tad choppy. Quite a quick read, I managed to read it in one sitting and it's dual POV which I do prefer. This really was an easy and enjoyable read with a lot more positives overall than negatives. Giving this one a thumbs up from my camp. I would be interested in seeing what comes next from this author. I voluntary reviewed a copy of Winter King (The Wyth Courts, #1).  Reviewed By Beckie Bookworm https://www.facebook.com/beckiebookworm/ www.beckiebookworm.com

She lost her job, has a mean roommate and hates her life. However, she is pure of heart and selfless. Just what Cade needs to save his kingdom. Cade goes to her world and kidnaps her. Well, sort of, since her life is such a mess anyway, she goes willingly. She is told about the curse and introduced to the Goddess. From there you must read the story to find out what happens. There is more to this story than what I have given you. It truly is a fun read and fairly quick, but that maybe because I couldn’t put it down.

Predictable This was light and fluffy. This had an amazing idea with some really cool monsters and magic but it was rushed, choppy and fell flat. I read it all in about 2 hours. It was too predictable. It wasn't a bad read but I felt there was this huge story to tell and it could have been much more.

I was asked by the author if I would read and review this book and I am so glad I agreed! I really enjoyed it and couldn't put it down! Cade is the Winter King in the fae realm of Wyth and when a curse is literally destroying his land, he has to venture to the human realm to find one who is selfless in order to stop the curse. He has no problem with this at all and sure enough finds Amber, a young, girl whose life is not going the way she wants at all. He has no problem with this at all and sure enough finds Amber, a young, girl whose life is not going the way she wants at all. He drags her back to his palace, where she believes she is dreaming, why else would a man this gorgeous be in the same bedroom as her?! Reality soon kicks in and while Cade doesn't directly lie to her about why she is there in his world, far away from anything or anyone she knows, he doesn't tell her the complete truth either, so not really knowing what she is agreeing to, Amber says she will help save his land and its people. However, others soon hear about this human girl and things progress rapidly in the Winter fae realm, yet Cade cannot stop thinking about Amber as being more than just a sacrifice. Knowing what he has to do to save his land, he is torn between his people and Amber. Luckily for him, Amber forms a plan of her once she really finds out what is going on and in the end Cade gets more of a surprise than he could ever have hoped for! I loved this book and the romance element was just perfect in my opinion. Both Cade and Amber both seemed to feel needed, feel wanted and their union felt right to me. I really feel for Amber at times too as she never really understood why Cade would pull away from her and he couldn't explain it either without telling her things he didn't want her to know. I loved the world building - I can really picture how beautiful this realm was and as much as I hate the cold, it made me want to see it myself! Thank you to the author for sending me a copy to review. I look forward to reading more from this author and this series.

This is the first book in The Wyth Courts series by this author, and although it held a lot of promise I do think it needed developing more, the story needed a bit more oomph, it was a bit predictable and I didn't feel the connections with the characters. So the idea behind the story is that the Winter King, Cade, has had a curse cast upon his land and only a selfless and caring human can save his world and must be sacrificed to do so. Amber is very much a do gooder, always helping out others in need and gets taken by Cade back to the Winter Court. He tells her only she can save his land, but keeps to himself that she has to die in order to do it. They have a connection that draws them to each other, he ends up spending time with her and falling for her, and so ends up with a major decision, save the land or save her. Its a quick short read, the story is there but needs filling out a bit to make it better. Cade's use of winter related curses did tend to get a little annoying though! Let's see what book 2 brings.

Unfortunately unknown to Winter King Series: The Wyth Courts Book 1 Author: JS Dark Genre: Paranormal/Fantasy Romance Release Date: October 9, 2019 Pages: 184 REVIEWED BY MEMBER OF THE PARANORMAL ROMANCE REVIEW TEAM King Cadewyn (Cade) of the Winter Court has been brought news that a curse has been placed on the land and the land is dying. The Habred live in Tywyll Forest which is inhabited by monsters and after the war with them every leader and important person including the commander were killed. Unfortunately unknown to Cade was the fact that the commander’s son lived and has sworn revenge. By destroying Wyth’s land there will be nothing left of the Winter Court and its people. The only hope to save everyone is a sacrifice, a sacrifice of a pure-hearted, selfless human. Cade was guaranteed that when he arrived in the human realm he would recognize the one he needed. Amber is twenty-one just lost her job and lives with a drunken roommate named Kimberly. Her life does not look promising but in spite of that when she sees a homeless man going through the garbage she hands him her jacket and her lunch. Then an elderly man drops his wallet spilling all his money on the floor, not only does Amber return every dollar she also refuses a reward. Her next act of goodness is to return a little puppy that was taken from a little girl by a group of bullies and with every act Cade knows that he has found that one true pure-hearted and selfless human. With no other choice Cade uses magic to put Amber to sleep and returns her to his castle, he doesn’t hide the fact that she is in the fae realm and the Winter Court. Refusing to reveal that he brought her there to be sacrificed he appeals to her sense of goodness and that he requires her for a special ceremony that will save his people and land. Not one to turn her back on anyone in need she readily agrees and has to undergo cleansing. The one thing that Cade didn’t count on was falling for Amber and he knows he has to stay away from her. This book was like reading a beautiful fairytale complete with a handsome fae king and a beautiful human girl. There is intrigue, betrayal, lies, secrets and romance. What happens between Cade and Amber is not something I will reveal but I will say this is a must read and I can’t wait for more. Although this is a series each book will be about a different couple and will have a complete ending.

Great Fae fantasy romance! Amber is down on her luck. She just lost her job and is living with a horrible roommate. I felt bad for both of them, but they were doing what they had to do to survive. Amber was so sweet and compassionate, I hated to see her struggle. Cade was struggling as well. He so badly wanted to save his land and his people, but was so torn on the sacrifice required. I thought the flow of the story was great, no filler or stilted dialogue. Easy to get into and the story kept pace. The descriptions were amazing too! It was over before I knew it, I would love to read more about these two. I love the concept of the different courts and can't wait to see what's next!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review The king of the Winter Court faces a dilemma when a curse is cast upon his kingdom and he needs to sacrifice a human who is pure of heart in order to save his kingdom, and his people. Only problem is, the woman he needs to sacrifice is his mate. That being said, I know that this is the first of what is supposed to be a series, so maybe future books will carry a bit more depth, history and character building. As for this one, it's easily enjoyable but I wasn't enamoured by anything or anyone as I didn't get much in the way of background of any of the characters, little history of the fae land, just a brief description of how it was broken up and the rulers, so I didn't development any attachments to anyone or anything. If you are looking for a light, easy read then this is a solid choice as it's enjoyable and fast paced.

2.5 stars. Good story, but like many of the other reviewers I agree that the overall book could have been fleshed out more. There was potential for more storylines and insights/perspectives from other secondary characters that were not taken. Because the book was so short the emotions between the two main characters were not as deep and more one dimensional than necessary. If the book were longer there would have been more time to build the tension and attraction between the main characters. Ove 2.5 stars. I am part of a big community of readers that LOVE a good journey to Faerie. This story did not disappoint! It's difficult to not like Amber, and even knowing the motivations for King Cadewyn taking her back to his kingdom, it's hard not to feel for the guy. He's just trying to save his realm after all. There's drama, that wonderful feeling of being dropped into a lush mythology and some truly steamy romantic tension. If you are a fan of fae / human romance, this is a great choice!

The Winter Court is under a court. To save his Kingdom King Cadewyn needs a sacrifice. What happens when that sacrifice is also his mate? Amber is a great character and was taken from her home and into the Winter Court. While there she develops feelings for the king. Plenty of creatures and action with some steam. This was a great story. Loved it! I am voluntarily reviewing an arc.

Fantasy with lots of emotion as well as action. Loved the setting of this beautiful winter wonderland. Hated the fact it was being destroyed by a curse. A curse that could only be broken by the sacrifice of a good human soul. A soul that just happens to be Cade's soulmate. What will it be, saving his kingdom or the love of his life? Not an easy choice to make. Great read.
