That is the ideal, but it was not the reality of Jack and Madison Wiley’s childhood. The siblings had a few memories of such caring, loving and attentive parents who would walk their children to school, embracing them with love and of special times like fishing trips filled with joy in the company of a parent. But, the reality of most of Jack and Madison’s childhood had required them to deal with the consequences of their parents’ addictions. Jack, the elder of the two children, did whatever was necessary—even stealing—to feed and provide for the needs of his sister when his parents used the family’s meager funds to support their own destructive addictions. Dad’s solution to fund his own habits was to sell drugs. Her mom was not much better as a parent with own her drinking and personal drama. As time passed, following the example of his father, Jack fell in with a bad group of friends. When a liquor store was robbed and the attendant killed, and although Jack was not an active participant, his bad judgement led him to be with the wrong person, at the wrong time in the wrong place and jail time was the result for his bad judgement in associates. As far as the town of Liberty was concerned, if an object went missing, if vandalism occurred, if anything untoward occurred, a Wiley was probably involved. Rather than offering help and comfort, all Liberty offered the Wiley family was judgement. So, when Madison turned 18, she escaped to LA as soon as she could, where she found a job to support herself, enrolled in college, and lived month to month in rental apartments with strangers. Her educational goal was to gain the skills and knowledge to help children like she and Jack had been—children who needed to know that there is help available and that there are better options than the ones followed by their parents. Now, her self-centered, narcissistic dad has apparently committed suicide. So, like most children of such a childhood, she is torn. She loved her Daddy—the man who comforted her when she was scared the first day of school, but she also feels great antipathy for the man who had put his own demons and addictions before his family. So, with ambivalent emotions, she comes home. And, before she can hardly enter the town limits of Liberty, where the “Wiley” name is associated with breaking the law—she is pulled over by handsome Teddy Williams, the deputy of her youth who always seemed to observe even her most minor indiscretions and to call her out. Now, as the sheriff, he has caught her doing 55 in a 35 mile-an-hour zone. But this time, there is something different—he lets her off with only a warning, certainly not the style normally displayed by the Liberty Sheriffs Department of her youth! Teddy almost seems to care, and as he walks away, she notices that the view from the back is very attractive! Had he always been so hot? But it is not long before echoes of the past can be heard again. The McBride brothers who were “friends” of her dad have been spotted in town, this time talking to Jack, and a black SUV seems to be following Madison. It becomes clear that the past is not past; it is very much part of the present, intertwining all of the Wileys—dad, Jack and Madison. KC Crowne is a writer for the individual seeking a reading experience that engages the heart and head with jolts of adrenalin produced by the twists and turns of the plot. She delivers engaging characters experiencing life’s challenges. A tenderly passionate romance, the story is structured with a strong and realistic storyline woven with emotional tension. And, most powerfully expressed are themes of love, family, sacrifice and the ability of the heart to love without bounds. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review ARCS, but I enjoyed the reading experience so much that I bought a copy for my "read-again" titles.

It is the story of Sheriff Teddy Williams and Madison Wiley. Madison grew up in Liberty with older brother Jack and her dysfunctional and addicted parents. So family life was not chocolate chip cookies and stories for the Wiley children. Instead it was about fending for themselves and scraping by. Not to say that her parents were always bad but there were things that were definitely not good. Jack ended up getting in with a bad crowd and after being in the wrong place, at the wrong time, and with the wrong person he is convicted and sent to jail. Madison in the mean time puts her head down and graduates high school. She lits out of town as fast as she can at eighteen heading to Los Angeles, the City of Angels. She is not dreaming of stardom but of making a better life for herself and getting ahead. She works hard, lives meagerly and puts herself though college. But when her father dies, apparently committing suicide, she returns home to Liberty. This trip is not what she expected in a lot of ways, including the handsome, sexy and older Sheriff Williams. But when new family drama and danger comes to town will Madison get caught up in it or will Teddy step in and save her. After all there are some major sparks flying between the Sheriff and the beautiful and feisty young daughter with the Wiley last name. Let's just say that the town gossips get a lot to talk about but both Teddy and Madison don't care. This is a well written book with a wonderful story that is highly entertaining and a fun read. Madison is a young woman who has intelligence, tenacity, a sharp wit, a smart mouth and a backbone that will not bend. Teddy falls for the beautiful Madison and is going to do whatever it takes to keep her safe as she is determined to get to the bottom of what her brother is dealing with now that he has been released and is back in Liberty also. I received a copy of this book for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

She is back for her father's funeral and if she can get them some answers too. There is one answer she would like though what does Teddy look like without that uniform on. Teddy can't believe the wild child he use to pull over in the past is back and man is she beautiful. He knows that no one in this town did her or her brother any favors back then and once her brother went to prison it has only gotten worse. He never expected to see Madison again but now that she is here she is asking questions that have even him wondering what is happening in this town. Will these two possibly find a HEA or will they always be the Wild child and the town cop? This is another amazing story by this author. It does have its ups and downs I really want to tell you about. However I don't want to ruin the story for any other readers. I will say these characters will take you on a roller-coaster rider you won't want to get off of. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

I enjoyed this book. It was well paced with intrigue, suspense drama crazy family dynamics which is so like true life, unexpected twists and turns with a hint of romance and forbidden love. You will experience many emotions while reading this very interesting story line and cheer for it's characters as they develop new relationships, repair old relationships and mend broken relationships as well as try to figure out what the heck is going on with one member of the family who is acting weird. Just the right pace to keep u reading to continue finding out what will happen next and throwing in a surprise pregnancy just adds more uncertainly to the mix although I would have liked to see the author play that part of the story up a bit more and add just a little more intrigue to that section instead of just having Madison have unprotected sex to get pregnant. Could have been a little more mystery and difficulty to that section of the plot. Overall a very interesting and good book to read. This Book Is Worth Its Weight in Gold... by and1515 Yes... Another exquisite book by renown author K.C Crowne. Returning several years later to her hometown she's pulled over for speeding by the Sheriff. I found myself cheering full heartily for Madison the instant she appeared. She and her older brother unfortunately didn't have the best childhood. Sheriff Teddy may come across with his cool hard facade but underneath his true colors shine through. Can you go home again? After what she went through, Madison never though that she would step foot in her hometown ever again. But her father’s “suicide” has brought her home. She’s not in town five minutes when the Bane of her Existence, one Sherriff Teddy Williams pulls her over. Oh how times have not changed. Teddy never wanted harm to come to Madison or her brother. An interesting read. I’m looking forward to Jack and Cassie’s story.

Not exactly living up to the blurb The plotline could have been used as an excellent vehicle for a great book if only the author had been up to the challenge. Sadly it fails on several levels, the editing makes little sense in some cases and is downright irritating in others. i.e. 'her hard beat' instead of 'heart'. The writing style is naive and wooden and the characters totally unbelievable. How on earth we are meant to believe the male lead is beyond me when he can't figure out unprotected sex. The female lead is supposed to be studying psychology and knows her way around life but spends so much time lost in her own denial it's frustrating to the reader. It's so twee it's just about sugar. The style of writing is grating at times,

I loved this small town romance, with this steamy pair, both Madison and Teddy were easy to love and had lots of challenges to cause a good amount of angst to the story. A captivating page turner that you will not want to put down once you start. Quite an emotional read as we Madison and Jack’s story growing up is not an easy one to deal with and it seems like the circle is not letting Jack out but Madison is determined that the people should know her real brother and not lump him with the misdeeds of his father. On the positive side I thought it was a decent read. This story is about Madison and Teddy. Madison is back for her father's funeral when Teddy pulls her over for speeding. During lunch with a friend, she overhears a local bad mouthing her family to Teddy and speaks up for her family causing a stir. There is a great deal of chemistry between Teddy and Madison.
