Coming home to a new beginning and an old love I love this trope and K.C. Crowne has done a great job of writing an interesting story with fun characters that have some depth and of course there is a HEA. The addition of some political intrigue kept my attention and made it not feel dragged out. I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.

This was a good read. Jeremiah was the best friend of Elle's dad. She has been in love with him since she was 16. All these years later he finds her very attractive and so they begin a relationship. Things get messy but in the end it all works out.

Jeremiah was the best-friend to Elle’s father; he was there as she grew up. Now she is a journalist and Jeremiah is a suspect in a murder. She wants to help him but will he let her? Will this put her in danger and will they find out the truth. Fast paced read with load of dram and steam chemistry. Great characters and an entertaining story. I liked it.

A Daddy Becomes a Daddy He was the man who had cleaned her fish when she was too squeamish while on her first fishing trip with her dad. He was the one she called when as a foolish 16-year-old, Eleanor Mae Schaeffer—Elle— got drunk at a party after lying to her dad about where was going, was sexually assaulted and too inebriated to drive home. He was in almost every memory of her childhood with her dad. Jeremiah Jenkins was her dad’s best friend—her dad’s hot best friend—and now 45, the man whom A Daddy Becomes a Daddy He was the man who had cleaned her fish when she was too squeamish while on her first fishing trip with her dad. He was the one she called when as a foolish 16-year-old, Eleanor Mae Schaeffer—Elle— got drunk at a party after lying to her dad about where was going, was sexually assaulted and too inebriated to drive home. He was in almost every memory of her childhood with her dad. Jeremiah Jenkins was her dad’s best friend—her dad’s hot best friend—and now 45, the man whom she still uses to measure all men. And she loves him, but not as her dad’s best friend. Now, she is back home. She had followed her dreams to New York City to study journalism in college, and now, 5 years later, she is back in Utah, still following her dream by using her inheritance from her dad’s recent and unexpected death to purchase the local newspaper and serve as editor. Life has also not stood still for Jeremiah during the last 5 years. At 45 is still as fit as he was 15 years earlier resulting from his physical exertions as a hands-on contractor. Only now, his hair and beard are sprinkled with gray, which does not age him—it only makes him more distinguished. But Jeremiah is different—very different. He is now mayor of their town Liberty—his father had died while serving as mayor, and Jeremiah stepped in to fill the interim position. And, he is currently running in a race to permanently fill the position. That means that he has stepped away from his family’s construction company to give full attention to the needs of Liberty and to care for his 2-months old-twin girls. Jeremiah has become a single father with no wife in sight, and while he is devoted to his girls, he is struggling to manage this new role. And, with no information about their origin, the whole town is curious about the unexpected arrival of the twins in his life. As the mayoral race heats up between Jeremiah and his opponent, a newer resident and rich land developer, George Holt, who seems to represent those interests who wish to change the small town to another overdeveloped ski resort with all its beauty dug up for the minerals hidden under the dirt, journalist Elle decides to write a human interest story to sharpen the vision of Jeremiah as the local builder and father. So, when Jeremiah storms into her office furious about the flattering and friendly article, Elle is shocked. Grounded in the same Utah community of several of her novels, but completely stand-alone except for location and an occasional character whose role in the town is made very clear, KC Crowne once more invites her reader to enter the world of strong characters who are upright moral individuals trying to make the right choices for themselves, their families and their community. Because evil seems to naturally follow good, conflict often ensues as the good takes a stand against those destructive forces. And, in the familiar theme of good vs evil, this novel is no different. Out of these conflicts the plot and complications evolve, creating a story grounded in the contemporary issues facing hundreds of communities—powerful individuals or groups attempting to assert their influence for self-gain, disregarding the interests of the community and the surrounding environment. Family in Crowne’s storytelling is always central, with love and children always at the heart of the well-crafted characters’ hearts. A Crowne tale pulses with the tension, twists and turns of the plot which are always resolved in a happily ever after conclusion. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review ARCS, but I enjoyed the reading experience so much that I bought a copy for my "read-again" titles.

I really loved it! The setting sounded lovely, idealistically quaint and friendly (for the most part), and the characters... I totally fell in love with them - well, those that weren't nepotistic, arrogant or entitled! Elle had had an adolescent crush on her Dad's best friend Jeremiah. After an extended absence, she returned home to Liberty, as the owner end editor of the Liberty Leader newspaper. She hadn't seen him in five years, not since her late father’s funeral, and the attraction hadn't really faded at all. She thought he was still a show stopper. He was a divorced, single dad, and the town's Mayor. Their reunion isn’t a positive one initially, as his face is plastered on the front of the local paper, and she has written an unauthorised article on him. She justified it by saying she did it to help him get re-elected. But is that even what he really wants? However, their history together means he can’t really stay mad at her. From here on in, they both take note of just how much the other has, and has not changed. Elle’s feelings certainly haven’t, and Jeremiah noticed just how much she has changed. He thought about how the shy, awkward, scrabble-loving teenager turned into this vixen with the face of an angel. Sounds like trouble… HOT trouble!? She’s certainly the aggressor in this coupling (and not in a bad way). Whilst Jeremiah’s focus is on his infant twin girls Grace and Amelia, he certainly seems intrigued by Elle, but isn’t willing to take the next step because of who she was to him as a child, and the role her father played in his life, until his untimely death. Suspicions of guilt develop, questioning Jeremiah’s innocence and involvement, in some local-government-related wrong-doings. Has he committed the crimes he’s been accused of? Or has he been set up? Then there’s the mystery of why he wants Elle to ‘give up’ her search for information to help him clear his name. And why haven’t we found out more about the twins’ birth mother? There’s plenty of drama in this one. There’s an ongoing air of mystery about the town, and some of its inhabitants. Many secrets get uncovered, and some with terrible consequences. What I loved was how the town’s citizen’s know and support each other in times of crises. Jeremiah had a team of people more than willing to help him out with the girls, and whilst lifelong friends had to follow procedures, they always seemed to back each other. It had a really nice, close-knit community feel – well, apart from you-know-who (or… you’ll-find-out-who)… Amongst the drama, there is lots of love, caring, reminiscing about memories, and very steamy moments! The ending is perfect, but I do REALLY want to know what could happen next to the main characters. No… I NEED to know! I will definitely recommend this read. It was a real page-turner, and I couldn’t wait to see what happened next after each chapter. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily, and happily, leaving a review.

After the loss of her father, Ellie has returned home where she always felt she belonged to post and in Jeremiah's time of deed she wants to be the one to be there for him to help him through this difficult time where his character is called into question. I encourage all romance junkies, like myself, so follow along as these two fated characters struggle to get there much deserved happily ever after. I was beyond fortunate to have requested an advanced readers copy of Daddy's Best Friend, in exchange for my honest and voluntarily given opinion.   Much like every one of Ms. Crowne's books, I highly recommend devouring this one, as well as any & everything published by her, as she is a superior Authur; that manages to keep you riveted, from the very beginning, all the way through to end of each and every release she publishes.   I cannot wait to see what she crafts for us next.  Congratulations to K.C. for another job well done.

    Jeeves Reads Romance

Steamy with some suspense I’ll admit it - I was a little worried when this started out with our heroine thinking “yes Daddy” when she looked at our hero. I suspected it was going to be over the top sexual, but I was pleasantly surprised by how solid the story was. It’s much more a romance about a woman in her early twenties, who spent a lot of time with her father’s best friend growing up. He was there for all the good times and the person she could turn to when she was in trouble. Somewhere along the way, that turned into attraction for her, and now that they’ve come face to face for one of the first times following her father’s death, attraction develops for him as well. While the steam is definitely there, there’s also a mystery to go along with it. Jeremiah is facing jail time if he can’t prove his innocence to some unsavory crimes, and Elle is there to help him with his young daughters during such a tumultuous time in his life. The mystery is a major part of the story, and sort of overwhelmed the budding romance at times. I could certainly feel the history between them and the attraction that sizzles now, but the relationship moved at lightning speed and lacked development. Overall, I liked the book a whole lot more than I expected to upon reading the first scene but felt the relationship could’ve been fleshed out more. Eleanor (Elle) Schaeffer is the daughter of deceased Carl Schaeffer and Jeremiah’s best friend. After college, she returned to Liberty as a journalist and purchased the local newspaper the Liberty Leader. She reconnects with Jeremiah after writing an article about him. It wasn’t received very well since he’s a private man and doesn’t want his daughters in the spotlight. There are twists and turns. You’re kept guessing if Jeremiah’s guilty or not. The evidence they have on him is damaging. Elle has enough faith in his innocence. She discovers she has a secret of her own! 💟 The chemistry is ignited between the two. Both knowing it is wrong but can’t deny their feelings. Is there an HEA for the two? Does Jeremiah get exonerated? This is a well-written story by K.C. Crowne. I highly recommend. Ms. Crowne left me too long without ‘naming names’, which I found a bit disconcerting, but a sexy, enthralling who-done-it with a very satisfying conclusion. I enjoy reading K.C. Crowne books. Elle came back to town and bought the local newspaper after her dad died. She did an article on the mayor, Jeremiah, who was her dad’s best friend. Elle has been in love with him for a long time. Jeremiah was not happy about the article and let Elle know. Jeremiah is raising twin daughters on his own. Elle starts to help him and they can’t hide their attraction for each other any longer. Jeremiah becomes a murder suspect so Elle tries to help him clear his name I enjoy reading K.C. Crowne books. Fourth book in the bundle, and my favorite so far. This book is filled with secrets. Read carefully and you will discover the secrets before the end of the book, maybe. Elle has not seen Jeremiah in years. But things right now are not going good and he’s in trouble. Jeremiah is raising infant twin daughters by himself and now he’s being accused of things he did not do. Elle knows this because she has known Jeremiah almost her whole life. Theirs might seem like a forbidden love, but it is love. S Fourth book in the bundle, and my favorite so far. This book is filled with secrets. Jeremiah definitely doesn’t want her to know. What could be so bad? Read this book and find out, it is amazing. I loved the ending.

I received an arc for an honest review. I really enjoyed this book - it was full of suspense, hot chemistry, and love. Jeremiah was Elle's father's best friend. Elle's father had passed away some time ago. Elle has always had a crush on Jeremiah, and when she publishes an article on his personal life, Jeremiah gets upset with her. He has a secret that he can't tell anyone, and wants to shelter his two small twin girls. As much as they want to deny the chemistry between them, finally they give into their feelings. This is a great read and I highly recommend it.

A dangerous love story Elle and Jeremiah make for an unusual couple in that he was her father’s best friend, and she had known him her entire life. She has always loved him, but now she finds herself in love with him. He is the single father of twins, and she has been helping him care for them. There are lots of complications to their story, especially the fact that their lives are in danger from people that want to “run” the town. Great characters and lots of action in this well written book tha A dangerous love story Elle and Jeremiah make for an unusual couple in that he was her father’s best friend, and she had known him her entire life.
