Fun Spy Regency Novella I always enjoy any book by Laura Beers. She has such a talent for writing strong and confident heroines, with swoony heroes who learn to recognize the worth of them... eventually. I really loved Marianne Notley in this story. She is smart, clever, brave, and skilled, and she uses all of these to help aid her father, all while slowly falling for Lord Harrington. For a novella, this totally worked, but for my personal preference, I so wish this book could have been longer and had more time to develop their sweet and clean romance. There were many plot twists in this book, many that I guessed at, and others I was shocked to see occur. Definitely another great book by this fantastic author, and I can’t wait to read more!

Marianne's Father has been teaching self-defense but she can't see how she'll need it during her Season. When men attack their carriage on the way home from the ball, her Father tells her to run and it's time to put her lessons to use. She thinks Lord Harington is a dandy but if her Father told her to go to him, she should be able to trust him right? What happens when her Father disappears? Will Lord Harington protect her? What's really going on? This is a clean, sweet romance. I enjoyed it. It w Marianne's Father has been teaching self-defense but she can't see how she'll need it during her Season. I wished this had been longer because I wanted more romance between Edwin and Marianne. They worked well together and I could see lots of fun between them as time went on. I loved how he praised her skills and was determined to keep her safe. Copy provided for an honest and voluntary review

It was an excellent book where the woman knows how to defend herself, which is unusual for the time period, and an aspect I LOVE about this authors books! It's fun to watch the secrets unfold, and there's even a fun surprise twist at the end (I won't ruin it for you, you'll have to read the book)!! It was very well done! rushed and too easily resolved...where is the conflict? It was so rushed it was implausible. For example, Edwin goes from, "I'm never getting married because no one can replace my lost love" to "I'm in love and need to figure out how I can court her with her father still missing" in less than a day. It's simply too easy. Where is the struggle over his feeling? Where is the conflict that draws me into his head and makes me want to take that journey of emotional reconciliation with him? An OK read • I loved the beginning with the self defense lesson between Marianne and her father. It definitely caught my interest. • There was a lot of witty banter amongst the characters that I enjoyed. • I love Laura Beers' Regency Spy series, Pinkerton series, and Twickenham series. I hope this book is just a fluke.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily reviewing it. I really enjoyed this book. It is a fast read, but there is plenty of detail and back story on the characters that you don’t feel like you’re missing out on anything the way you sometimes do with short stories. It was very well written and hooks you from the beginning. I love the strength and determination that Marianne has, she is not your typical 18 year old Lady from the early 1800s. This story was a short lovely read. Although it is one of her shorter stories, Laura Beers still managed to pack it full of humor and sarcasm. I must say though, Lord Harington could really use a few lessons on being a spy from the Beckett’s. Marianne on the other hand certainly missed her calling. I liked that Marianne saved herself on multiple occasions and was rarely a damsel in distress, and she still managed to catch the eye of the brooding Lord who had no interest in finding love or the wh This story was a short lovely read. I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this book from the publisher and am voluntarily reviewing it. Short book that has the perfect amount of details. It moves very quickly that I found myself having to re-read a bit just to make sure I really understood what was happening. I really liked the characters. I thought I had the mystery solved but there was great twist I wasn’t expecting! I would love to read more with these same characters.

This book was so good! I loved the characters and my favorite was Marianne. Marianne was smart, could throw a dagger accurately, and shoot as well as any man.The story has spies, danger and romance. I love all of the spy details along with the never ending action. Like every good spy story the end has secrets that you would never see coming. This book was magnificent! Was given a complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.

I received an Advanced Readers Copy from the author and these are my own thoughts. Although this novella is a stand alone, it was a great intro into the upcoming series. Lots of intrigue and finding our who is the other spy! I had it pegged from the beginning and I am glad I was right! And I was quite surprised by “Agent M” too! Can’t wait to read the next one!

Positive: cute story. Negative: For being a top spy, Edward sure was an idiot. It was hard to take him seriously. The plot and some of the character traits were good enough to make it a three.
