Announcing his campaign in Springfield, Illinois, on February 10, 2007, Obama stood on the grounds of the Old State Capitol, where Abraham Lincoln delivered his famous "House Divided" speech against slavery in 1858. During an eighteen-month campaign, from the snows of Iowa to the hunt for Democratic "superdelegates," this junior senator from Chicago confounded the party establishment and rewrote the playbook on modern presidential campaigning. This amazing collection of photographs captures the public and private moments of his journey, and offers a unique window into one of the great triumphs in American politics.

Some great candid shots I had never seen before of the President. I loved the crowd photos, the excitement jumped of the page. I'm so glad I waited 3 hours in the snow with my children to see this man during the campaign. To witness this history making event was amazing! this is a book of incredibly beautiful photography of the obama campaign in the days leading up to his first presidential election which means it's also subtextually about that time the entire country had a collective crush on the president elect and everything was amazing i'm gonna miss him 4 stars this is a book of incredibly beautiful photography of the obama campaign in the days leading up to his first presidential election which means it's also subtextually about that time the entire country had a collective crush on the president elect and everything was amazing i'm gonna miss him 4 stars

I bought this book back in January of 2009, when I was an Obamamaniac. I've yet to do much more than breeze through it. And at this point, it's probably all I'll ever do. But it's nice to have, anyway... I bought this book back in January of 2009, when I was an Obamamaniac. I've yet to do much more than breeze through it. I'm not into politics but the Obama campaign was definitely historic and the photographs in this book testify to this... the 'write up' in the end was also gripping I'm not into politics but the Obama campaign was definitely historic and the photographs in this book testify to this... the 'write up' in the end was also gripping
