Nope. I prefer not having a specific release date to one that gets pushed time and time again. I should have known that this would happen when Amazon didn't have any pre-orders or listings of any upcoming new books September 2021 Ok, So I have the book, now I am trying to decided if I want to read it by itself, or re-read some of the previous books. Seriously, I have all the books, but how far back to read? They take FOREVER to finish.

First of all, this was worth the wait! Fans of our hapless Pythia can rejoice in another rollicking ride from Karen Chance. Karen Chance has stated that this is part one of two (Ignite the Fire: Inferno will be out October 15th!!!), and it does end on a cliffhanger--so be prepared for that. Normally I hate waiting, but I'm so excited for the next installment because it feels like many of the Dory story-lines are starting to converge (I definitely need to re-read both series again) and provide us with some closure. I feel Cassie (and the audience) is on the verge of understanding some major things, and while I missed Pritkin and Mircea's presence often in Incendiary, I think all we learn is vital to build up to Inferno. Also it's just great seeing powerful women kick a**! Thank you Ms. Chance for another twisty-turny-timey-wimey adventure! I'll be sure to buy Inferno when it comes out (and I'll wait as long as it takes for your fabulous stories, I am in it for the long haul)!

I was very excited when this came to my hands. I was severely disappointed however by the book. I am a Cassie Palmer fan and I am due to a re-read, however this book to me was very confusing. Actually I was as confused as Cassandra has been with all the body hoping and the time hoping etc etc etc. The book picked up for me at around 75%, especially with (maybe?) introduction of Arsen, and how Cassie viewed their society and people, who didn't differentiate that much that Earth people. There was a bit of a wait (again) for Ignite the Fire, book 11 in Cassandra Palmer UF series, and when it finally arrived, it had been divided into two parts for its size. The first is called Incendiary. The book starts with the exact scene the previous book ended, with Cassie, Pritkin and Mircea on their way to a fey party in 16th century Romania to locate someone who might know where Mircea’s long-lost wife is. The first is called Incendiary. The book starts with the exact scene the previous book ended, with Cassie, Pritkin and Mircea on their way to a fey party in 16th century Romania to locate someone who might know where Mircea’s long-lost wife is. There’s a lot of mayhem—and a dragon—which made me fear that the book would be yet another chaotic addition to the series. Fortunately things slow down a little—for a moment. Enough to give Cassie and the reader time to reflect what’s going on and what’s happened so far in the series, which is a lot. And while it’s a short respite, the action and rest are better balanced here than has been the case in previous books. The action scenes are easier to follow this time, with fewer things going on simultaneously and with better descriptions. The timeline is still messy though, as according to Cassie only six months has gone and the reader has witnessed it all, yet Cassie has an entire life happening between the books too. There’s a new god giving Cassie trouble and this time it’s Zeus, who isn’t exactly easy to win. But he’s occupying the body of a fae king, so she sets out to defeat him instead. It doesn’t go easily, but instead of endless detours like usually where she ends up in a totally unrelated situation, she actually manages to locate him, if not like she imagined or planned. Since this is the first part of a two-parter, there isn’t a final battle at the end of the book. The book ends in a middle of a fight-scene, with the worst kind of cliff-hanger. But hopefully the second part has already been written and we don’t have long to wait for the conclusion. On the personal front, Cassie seems to have gotten the hang of her life as Pythia. Her court is in order, her successor, Rhea, is becoming truly formidable, and her self-confidence issues were at minimum. She again went through most of the book without taking care of her physical needs like eating, so if the gods don’t kill her, malnutrition will. The love spell that ties her to Mircea and Pritkin, which Mircea promised was lifted, is back in effect—with some interesting consequences. But since Cassie really needs the strength and skills she can borrow from her companions, she doesn’t complain. But it may put her relationship with Pritkin in jeopardy. My only complaint is that Pritkin spent most of the book absent or unconscious, which is never good. With a book this well balanced and interesting once again—and without Mircea’s obsession with his wife—I’m hopeful for the rest of the series. And I hope the second part comes out soon.

Waiting patiently Know it will be worth the wait but hate cliff hangers. Action packed like always. Masterful character development. Most authors lose it at this level of world development or maybe they get tired of their series. Not here, each book is a beautiful polished gem. Keep the magic rolling!

Love to read the Cassie series. Missed seeing Pritkin on the page but I always miss him when he's not on every page. Overall Ms. Chance did not disappoint with the last book. Beginning & ending are solid, everything in between is a ton of slog exposition, took forever to get through it for me. And of course it ends with a cliffhanger because honestly it would be a surprise if a book in this series didn’t end with a cliffhanger…. Ugh

Another great installment in this amazing, crazy series - worth the wait, as always. Fast paced and full of the usual action and quirky sense of humour, this volume takes us one step closer to the solution of what is really going on. This is book 11 in a highly complex series (and not counting the Dory novels on a parallel timeline and several novellas) so someone trying to start reading here will be completely lost. Those books are meant to be read in order.

Instead of a trip through Alice in Wonderland this is Cassie in Faeland. Just as wildly incomprehensible and crazy. And there’s a cliffhanger ending!!!! Don’t think she doesn’t either. Seems like just random events that the heroine responses to when it happens. Putting out fires instead of preventing them. And there’s a lot of time memory bits that I skipped through until the end where they became important. Fave scenes: Cassie escaping the dragon, Cassie’s groupie, the fae soul connection and the tree escape.

I love this series and Chance's skill for scene building is phenomenal! The descriptions are so immersive that getting lost in the story is effortless. I also love how complex the relationships in this series are. There's a dynamic shift between Cassie, Mircea and Pritkin, and it just adds to the nuances of their relationship. I honestly cannot wait for part 2. And Chance, if you feel you need to do more 2-parters in future to get the full story out, I 100% support you in that! How Do You Solve A Problem Like Cassie? For a Pythia, she’s a schmuck, but you can’t help but love her. There’s a war going on between our world and faerie. If that weren’t enough, the ancient gods are trying to get back to our world. Our girl certainly has her hands full. Now, if she’ll just smell the coffee and realize that she’s a Demi goddess! Karen Chance just gets more incredible with each book! You won’t be able to put this one down! 👏👏👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️❤️

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. Cassie Palmer books have always been my favorite…..until this book. While I like the general story line I do not like how Cassie forgave Mircea so easily. I really really did not like the 3 way between the characters. Please let this be a one off and not a trend. I have seen this happen with other writers and have stopped reading the books as did many of my friends.
