I read this from cover to cover as soon as we had it. The children have been working through the exercises since then. A great book. Full review below. . . . This is the second volume from the duo of Way and Babcock. And it is just as great as the first volume. The first volume was North American Martyrs Kids Activity Book and my kids and I loved it. And they appreciated this volume even more, in part because of the Canadian focus. Having read a few different books on North American saints and marty I read this from cover to cover as soon as we had it. Having read a few different books on North American saints and martyrs I was familiar with all of the saints in this book. The sections in this volume are: Introduction St. Marie of the Incarnation St. Kateri Tekakwitha St. Marguerite Bourgeoys St. François de Laval St. Marguerite d'Youville St. Andre Bessette Canadian Saints Appendix 1: Answer Keys 108 Appendix 2: Further Reading There are between 14 and 16 pages dedicated to each of the 6 saints and a final chapter combining information and activities for all s as well. Each of the chapters specific to a saint begins with a 1-page overview. Kind of a visual and word collage. Then each of the saints have a few pages of text outlining their life, mission, and in some cases martyrdom. And then many pages of activities. The activities include: Overview collage Who Was Portrait of the Saint to Color Pages of quotes from the saints. Translation Time (from Greek Alphabet to ours) Imagine (draw your own picture) Design a Coat of Arms Prayers Writing your own Prayer Crossword Puzzles Recipies Word Search Maze Section to write our notes about the saint. My children have loved many of the activities. One of their favorites was designing their own coat of arms. And they loved learning about these saints, many of whom lived and served near where we live. It was great for the kids to learn more about some of these saints, and to encounter 2 of them for the first time. The book really is fun for the whole family. Over 100 pages of fun for the whole family. This is a wonderful second volume in the Saints for Kids Series and we look forward to the next installment. Another great book from Bonnie Way and Katherine Babcock. Read the review on my blog Book Reviews and More and reviews of other books by Bonnie Way and Katherine Babcock. My kids, ages 7 and 9, have really enjoyed learning new tidbits about some saints (like St. Kateri) that are familiar to us, and some saints (like St. Andre Bessette) who are new to them. My daughter, especially loved the illustrations, coloring pages and mazes.
