Tatum won't quit until each of them has suffered. ⤷ Tatum is such a badass character she doesn't take shit from the guys and I loved the scenes where she got her revenge but I still hope she doesn't give in too easily and make them work more for it! ⤷ I'm not the biggest fan of Monrose but his character is important and it will be interesting to see his development with Saint considering their past! ⤷ One of my least favorite things in books is teacher and students tropes which make me very uncomfortable and unfortunately, the relationship between Tatum and Manrose developed but the reason why I haven't given the book a lower rating because this trope is clearly stated in the description and I went into this knowing that which is my fault! ⤷ Saint is still my favorite out of all the male characters as he's the most interesting to read about and closed off! Can't wait to read more about his backstory in the next few books! ⤷ I enjoyed reading about them but Kyan made me frustrated a lot but I understood why he was acting the way he is and felt a lot for him! Blake is still a mystery he seems so light-hearted at times but in reality, he can be the cruelest out of them all! ⤷ We got to learn more the guys which really changed the way I view them and made me respect them in some aspects but they still haven't completely wined me over! "I know, sweetheart. You’re trained to survive, to thrive on your own. But that doesn’t mean you should, right?" These books are hard to put down! Recommend for anyone looking for a dark and fast-paced book to read! Thank you, Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti, for providing a copy of this book for an honest review! :)

..when can I get the third book because holy crap.. Kings of Lockdown did not disappoint. At some point, she starts to break down their walls and barriers which lead to some delicious sexual tension that completely tortured me. That being said, I am so happy that she finally slept with someone. Like, hot damn girl, it was bound to happen and I was not disappointed at all. Thank my lucky stars! Now I just need her to do that with everyone and I will be happy as a clam. Other than that, this book does have it's mysterious. Someone is following her and being all kinds of stalker-ish. I'll even admit the creepy poems were a nice touch. I'm also a bit shocked with how this ended. Not sure how or if I will ever get over it but now I just need the next book to calm me down. I have so many questions and I really need answers. I also really need a good reunion too.

“Revenge is a bitch and I am her.” I said in my review for Kings of Quarantine that this series might be my new favorite and this book just makes that statement more valid. I read this thing so fast and got mad at anyone who disturbed me. I couldn't put it down! There was never a dull moment. We learned more about all the characters in this book, including the Unspeakables and trust me some of the things you learn will shock you. I read this thing so fast and got mad at anyone who disturbed me. I couldn't put it down! There was never a dull moment. We learned more about all the characters in this book, including the Unspeakables and trust me some of the things you learn will shock you. The main theme of this book was revenge, but it wasn’t all anger and sadness. There were lots of laughs, steam, and my favorite, growth. “You have to let yourself be weak so that you can be strong again.” Our main girl Tatum is incredible. She is so strong no matter what the guys throw her way. She not only takes what they give, but she gives it back twice as much. I love all her revenge ideas and how clever she was going about them. Also it was nice of her to use the boys' desires against them. They truly deserved everything she did and more for all the crap she put up with. Our girl has some restraint though. There were so many times I wanted her to strangle one of them, but she kept calm and held on until she was able to get her own punishments in. I am so proud that even though she was starting to feel things for the guys, she didn’t let that stop her from making them pay for their crimes. Once again this book showed how real her character is. How she is not afraid to show her teeth when she is angry or cry when she is sad. It shows that to be a tough chick you don’t have to be strong and in control 100% of the time. “I know, sweetheart. You’re trained to survive, to thrive on your own. But that doesn’t mean you should, right? These boys like to make me question myself. I never know if I should be cheering for them or punching them. I do love the growth they showed in this book. I honestly didn’t see myself forgiving them after the last book or at least not until the end of the series and some serious groveling, but this book really helped see their perspective. Was anything they did okay? No. But learning about their lives and history helps see their character better and reasons why they think it should have been okay. I also enjoyed seeing them work through their issues and realize that they were wrong and try and let Tatum into the group more and not just be their pet. The times when they let go of everything and just enjoyed being carefree were some of my favorites. “Those boys were a world of trouble, but sometimes...they were a world of fun too. Blake won my heart this book. He is going through so much grief and doesn’t know where to direct it. I hope he and Tatum can help each other through that journey especially with the ending. Kyan is a mix of love and annoyance for me. I understand how troubled he is and why he thinks treating Tatum the way he does is for the greater good. I just wish he would see by doing so he is also hurting her and himself. Saint, Saint, Saint. This boy is something else. I was happy we got to figure out his need for control. Get inside his head a bit more. His dad really did a number on him, but I loved how Tatum helped him overcome some of his darkness. Their agreed punishments were my favorite. I respect that he followed her rules and never broke them, even if I was begging him to sometimes. He is still a bit of a mystery and I can’t wait to learn more about his childhood and his father. Monroe, my knight and shiny armor. Oh, I didn’t think it was possible to love him anymore, but the authors proved me wrong. Learning his back story and why he has it out for Saint’s family broke my heart. I wish I could jump into the book and hug him. I enjoyed the start of his friendship with the Night Keepers. His growing relationship with Tatum had my heart soaring. Him being her support through it all and letting her be free when she was with him was everything. I loved that she has an insider now and they share mutual a goal. Plus, the sexual tension between them was fire. “She used to say find your tribe. Only let people into your life who make it better, who understand you on a soul-deep level. And once you find them, never let them go.” I feel like I say this in all my reviews for Caroline and Susanne’s books, but holy cliffhanger! They always have to mess with my head. Can’t we ever have a happy peaceful ending?? But seriously, it wouldn’t be one of their amazing books without it and I secretly love it (Shhh! Don’t tell them!) I just will be sitting here in agony until the next book.

In Quarantine, we knew from the get-go that Tatum's treatment was unjustified and I spent most of the first book thinking how in the world were Caroline and susanne going to make the knight keepers even remotely redeemable? Well... of course the duo were like... In Lockdown, we see Tatum's backbone flourish. we always knew it was there, but we finally get to see her serving up some cold hard revenge. Hands down, the best part of it was that she used their own methods of torture as payback. So, get ready to laugh your arse off because Tatum sneaking off and getting up to no good had me busting a gut serval times! Even the keepers found the humour in it because deep down they knew they deserved it. However, don't expect a complete 180 of the Knight keeper's. They are back and better than ever. Their level of cruelty still knows no bounds and their inner monsters are still ever present. Tatum pushes and they push right back just as always. Although, this time we grasp a better understanding of the driving force behind why they are the way they are and the reasons behind their actions. (especially Saint!) Like the guys, I found myself seeing the sacred stone sacrifice less as a a curse and more like fate. Tatum come's alive within the (five way relation-shit)... and the keepers have a true purpose. To protect and worship Tatum like the queen she is! The time spent in the Temple as a group (also pizza night) was when you could really see the possibilities of the relation-shit. It was also the setting for many naughty times... as Lockdown takes the sexual angst of Quarantine to the next level, it was FIRE. It was also the only time I was cursing Tatum's superior resistance and inabilitiy to forgive. It was badass but infuriationg. I spent every angst filled moment like... But, it was also the most humorist when Tatum got hers and was like... If you thought Quarantine was immense, Lockdown trumps it tenfold. The story drives forward with so much action, angst, tension, cruelty, stalking, humour and twists! Also, prepare for a rough ending, it comes at you like a truck... and the queens of cliffhangers are behind the wheel.

“That power-hoarding, soap-wielding, dickzilla. One day I’ll ram a bar of soap down his throat and see if it can clean his filthy, wicked innards.” - I snort laughed at this. Tatum needs to stand her ground more with the whole scheduling and dressing her up bullshit. Although I loved learning about what makes each guy tick I don’t think that any of the guys have redeemed themselves completely yet. But I do have empathy for them all. I’m impressed that I was able to feel empathy and sympathy for Saint. I can’t wait to find out his full backstory. His Dad is a real piece of shit. I’ll admit the spanking and directing Blake and Kyan during the dares game was hot as fuck... And the toy. *Inserts squid emoji and bites fist* As the characters developed it felt like each of the guys morphed into the stereotypical MMC found in other popular books within the bullymance trope. The psychopath The guy with mob ties The broken guy with overwhelming grief The guy who wants to avenge the loss of a loved one. I’d hoped that this book would be different from others within the genre but I think the similarities took away from my enjoyment of the book a little. Kyan and Monroe are still my favourites of the guys. Kyan’s sleepy ramblings were hilarious. “You can’t tape a screwdriver to your dick and use it to stab people… that’s no way to treat your tools.” I live for this content. Kyan kiss her already you sexy fool! Monroe *drools* About fucking time. I was quite irritated that Tatum was too dense to bother digging deeper to find out why the unspeakables earned their names before she risked herself to defend their honour (or lack-thereof). I don’t think Punch was the stalker. This book consisted of some satisfying revenge, backstory and a lot of filler and fluff and picked up towards the end. I’m surprised to say that this book didn’t need to be so long. So I was undecided between 3.5 and 4 stars but have rounded up bc I love the authors and their writing so much. I wasn’t as gripped as I was in book one but I still enjoyed this instalment very much. PS *Squid emoji*

Book 2 was phenomenal. How can you root for these boys who are absolutely horrible to the core and love them regardless? Well, I guess Tatum and I share something in common, and that is she’s slowly falling in love with these boys. And I fell in love with them in this exact book. What a thrill ride this series has become for me. You will laugh, cry and love with this second book. Do no waste your time reading any other book out there. This series merits to be in your TbR this month! Warning: cli Book 2 was phenomenal. How can you root for these boys who are absolutely horrible to the core and love them regardless? Dark and intense read! This book was so crazy! After the first one, I thought maybe the guys would be nicer to Tatum and feelings would be admitted, but instead the fighting got more intense and some truths were revealed. I did like that we saw the guys care for Tatum and they all really get off on the pranks and hatred. Having Tatum in harm's way does show how protective they are of her and a couple times there were actual sweet moments. This series needs to be read in order, so if you haven’t read Kings of Quarantine, STOP and head into that one first because things won’t make sense to you otherwise. If you enjoyed the first book you are going to love this one! The character and relationship development is superb, so well written, it evokes so many feelings. I love reading the different POVs, not only Tatum’s, our heroine, but also the one from the guys in the harem: Kyan, Monroe, Saint and Blake. Being in their heads makes you connect with them and you feel their love, their pain, their attraction, their friendship. They are not perfect, they have so many flaws and we get more insight in their past to learn why they behave or act the way they do. Tatum is amazing in this book, she is now one of my top favourite heroines. I love her character so much. She is so strong, so sassy and she doesn’t forgive easily. Her dedication to her revenge is admirable, even with the attraction and feelings that she is developing for the guys, a simple apology won’t work for her. I have read so many bully romances that fail in this that I can only say BRAVO to her and the authors. “My heart was blackened with anger and hate for what they’d put me through. And I was never going to forgive them. So there was only one choice I could make. I was going to make them suffer. Hurt the way I’d hurt. Break as I had broken. I didn’t want an eye for an eye. I wanted a shattered soul for a shattered soul. I wanted their hearts butchered in my hands in the same way they’d butchered mine.” The sexual tension in the story is completely off the charts. You will be pleading for a simple kiss. The four guys now have a piece of my heart. I didn’t care as much about Saint and Blake in the first book but they have really grown on me. Monroe struggles with his feelings towards Tatum in this one and tries to keep her at bay. That made him appear less in this book but it gave both Blake and Saint more opportunity to shine. Kyan is now my favourite and I am absolutely in love with him. I can only say that my heart broke for him in this book and it is the one that makes me feel the most when he is with Tatum, I love all their scenes together. “It means that you’re my queen, my goddess, my idol. It means I want to be your sword, your fists, your darkness. I want to kneel at your feet and worship you. I want to take your body and fill it with pleasure so blinding you can’t even breathe through it. I want to make you call out my name in the dark and know that no matter how bad things get, I’ll always come for you.” The story will also make you laugh, there is some suspense and the last 10% will blow your mind. You cannot take anything for granted, I didn’t see some of the twists and revelations coming. It ends in a cliffhanger and what a cliffhanger!!! I am so looking forward to the next book, there are some hints where the plot could be heading and I am so excited to read more about it. The third book in this series cannot come soon enough! Book by book Caroline and Susanne have turned into one of my top favourite authors. Whatever they release I will read it, it doesn’t matter the trope, no questions asked!

This book continues straight after the last, with Tatum out for revenge against all of the wrongs that the boys committed against her. Except this time she has back up. MONROE my boo is on her side. She has a list of wrongs they've committed, and she making up a list to make sure that she gets them back for every single one. I cracked up so many times for all Tatum's hijinks, she literally has nothing to lose. She knows that although the boys have done wrong against her and will continue to do so, they would never hurt her. So she definitely totes the line of going a little too far. But I definitely had mad respect for the strength she had of drawing lines in the sand. If it was up to me, I don't know if I would have been able to resist all that hotness. I would've just gave in probably. This book definitely helped me to love Saint and Kyan the most, I mean I love my other boys too, it's just right now they're my top two. Susan and Caroline broke down their backgrounds and really gave me understanding of why they were so messed up. And I can't help but want to save all the bad boys, which is why I said I would have given in. Tatum struggles with forgiving them and also giving into the fact that she has an inner darkness which matches them. She begins to understand why she belongs in their tribe. And how she is their queen. It also helps that all that hotness and sexual tension is scattered throughout... Anyways a lot goes down, like it always does, and we are left in a cliff hanger. Were you surprised, if so, slap yourself. Expect it. I swear, how will I survive these months waiting for the next book. I don't even know. Thanks Susanne and Caroline and Susanne for an arc. Like always, it was a blast. Until next time.

There were so many secrets that came out in this book that I did not expect and we saw Tatum, Saint, Kyan and Blake navigating their new confusing and stronger feelings. What we learnt about the Unspeakable’s in this book really blew my mind. It made me see the Night Keepers in a completely different light and it’s becoming increasingly hard to hate them when they do actually have some good morals!!! I love that we got to see a new side of the boys and see them battling with their own demons as well as Tatum noticing some of her own. The character progression in this book was amazing and it’s perfect to see each of the characters becoming their better selves. I’m really not sure what else to say about this book because the ending really has left me speechless. It was so intense, crazy, and heart pounding and I’m desperate for the third book to give me more details!!!

This book literally had every single type of character you could want in a story - and it didn't feel 'too much' and it might have been the HOTTEST thing I've read so far this year! There were so many parts that I literally laughed out loud and looked like a crazy person laughing about them hours after I read or laying in bed trying to sleep Tatum is a total freaking bad-ass, she was portrayed as strong, with faults, and such restraint at times I was yelling "TAKE HIS CLOTHES OFF" but at the same time I am sooo glad for the tension Kyan is just marvellous and I can't wait to find out more about how things go down and also just want him to DO IT! But I will say no more. Blake is seriously charming and I really liked him in this book and I won't say more! Monroe I need in my life - dear lord he's just delicious and so loyal, but can't wait to see him accept his fate Saint GREW on me in this book, like a third boob, one that I didn't know if I'd like but now came to realise I NEEDED and don't ever want to go without the third boob (okay weird comparison but it works) I can't believe how this book ended I can't believe what went down throughout the book And I am desperate for more information and to see what happens next.

Caroline and Suzanne never disappoint. And the fact that they easily jump in and out of fantasy with their series and STILL hits the mark every.damn.time boggles my mind. This book was INCREDIBLE, and despite how long all these books end up being i always complete them in 2ish days while working full time so that's saying something. And of course they left me wanting more and cursing having to wait a couple months for book 3. (Good thing I know they will be releasing other books in the meantime 😈 Caroline and Suzanne never disappoint. Blake is slowly getting back to the the Blake we first met, and Kyan...... oh Kyan. Im still not fully team Saint, but he's starting to grow on me, however there are many many times I want to throat punch him. Monroe however 🤤🤤🤤 This book is full of drama, and action, and sexy scenes, and all the goodness one needs to have a book fully consume their thoughts. So if you haven't picked up book 1, do it, do it right now!

Another five star read for me. This is where Tatum starts to come into her own as she succeeds in getting revenge against her tormentors (all of whom thoroughly deserve it). Kyan and Blake buckle under the pressure as they start to realise they are falling in love with her. Saint is one step ahead of the game, as always. Rules are everything in his world and they cannot be broken. I've gone from hating Saint in book one, to hanging off his every word in book two. Trust me to go for the OCD bad guy. Kyan is pretty hot, too, though. I could just handle a menage with these two ;) Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that this series is awesome and I'd thoroughly recommend it.

Wow what an amazing second book!!! I love Tatum even more. Once again we get to be taken for a ride on the Emotional Rollercoster I laughed, I cried and every other emotion there is to feel I felt it. We find out if Tatum gets her revenge in this book. We also find out more about our amazingly delicious bad guys. Monroe is still my favorite along with Kyan. Blake and Saint moved up on my list as well. We are also left with more questions and that ending but of course we already know Caroline and Susanne are the Queens of Cliffhangers so be prepared. Grab your snacks and your drinks or your chocolate and wine and settle in for a good time this book delivers so much.

"Hi I’m Tatum Rivers and I’m addicted to cruel boys with black hearts." Book 2 of the brutal boys of everlake prep was even better than book 1! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and all the crazy and twists and turns that came with it. I love Tatum, she's fierce and strong. Kyan Roscoe owns my heart... but so do Blake and Monroe and ok even SAINT has a small place in my heart now. my god. I love these twisted, messed up dudes. Blog At the end of the day, it is all about revenge and making a mark. Saint, Kyan, Blake, Monroe and Tatum found themselves in one team against the world sooner than expected. Tatum holds the key to all of their hearts and she plans to use this power smartly. Strong, passionate and goal-driven characters make the story interesting. All the characters with their back story make the plot engrossing. Blog At the end of the day, it is all about revenge and making a mark. Exceptional. This book was an absolute rollercoaster of emotions. I didn’t think I could forgive the boys their sins from book one, but the ladies managed to get me to love each of them within their first POV chapters. I think the character development in this book actually makes it better than the first, though of course the plot is fantastic too. I’m really excited to see where book 3 takes us.

Original review This book was provided by the authors in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti! Kings of Lockdown is the second book in the Brutal Boys of Everlake Prep series and continues the story of Tatum and her four men, Blake, Kyan, Monroe and Saint. Revenge is a bitch and I am her. I’m kinda pissed at Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti, but to be honest, I didn’t expect anything else from this writing duo. They always write these kinds of endings. I’m still processing Kings of Lockdown’s ending and I hope we’ll get book 3 really soon! A lot of things happened in this book, and it changed the characters. I definitely see some character development when I compare book 1 and 2. Tatum is still a badass and strong character, but in Kings of Lockdown, she’s even more badass for punishing the guys. As for the men, I started to like, and even love, all of them which wasn’t the case for book 1. I didn’t really like Blake and Saint, but now they both have a special place in my heart. I still don’t like their bullying, but all four guys have been opening up about their past and/or feelings, and I just couldn’t not love them for that. I’m worried about you getting hurt, not trying to stand in the way of your feminine right to fuck as many guys as you like. I really loved reading Kings of Lockdown, it was such an amazing, well-written and fast-paced read. I kept on reading and reading, the story was so addictive. Kings of Lockdown is full of surprises and sexual tension, and I couldn’t get enough of it. I highly recommend Kings of Lockdown and I cannot wait to read the next book in the series!

I Tried... The relentless internal monologue kept dragging on and on and on and on. I skipped through a bunch of it because it was extremely repetitive. I was waiting for more action, anything regarding the Hades virus, something!!!! I mean majority of the book was her pulling pranks on the guys for revenge and then being cruelly punished for them. Wasn’t till the last 96% of the book that the storyline picked up. Liked the first book...this book I could take it or leave it.

Disappointed This book was just a lot of "deep thoughts" mixed in with immature pranks. I was skimming through endless internal dialog and rolling my eyes at some of the stupid pranks the heroine caused. I considered reading the next book but it doesn't release for another 6 months. Not that interesting to keep me on the hook that long. Disappointed This book was just a lot of "deep thoughts" mixed in with immature pranks. Mediocre Another predictable storyline. Tatum has no resolve and continually forgives the three guys for mistreating and abusing her. This romanticises Stockholm syndrome,

This books was no different. After the first book I wasn’t sure if there was going to be a way for the boys to redeem themselves with everything they put Tatum through. Especially Saint with his constant need to be in control of everyone and everything and his holier than thou attitude. But I should have known better. Caroline and Susanne have a way with characters. They make them love-able and hate-able all in one. Our heroine, Tatum, has always been a badass. In this book she stepped up her game and reclaimed a little bit of herself in the form of payback. And boy was most of the payback amazing and well deserved. We also got to see a little bit more of her relationship with her father and how his job effected her and Jess growing up. Oh man. The boys! We got to see a bit of each of their backgrounds and it definitely explained a bit. It shows how their past has shaped them and made them into who they are today. Blake: Our favorite golden boy is back. He definitely had his come to Jesus moment in this book and he seems to be bouncing back to his old self where Tatum is concerned. I’m glad he’s finally pulled his head out of his ass considering he was the one who set the Night Keepers on Tatum for something she had nothing to do with. Kyan: I knew his past was bad but I had no clue how bad it was. Tatum’s revenge cut Kyan deep and I’m hoping the two will be able to mend that bridge. I personally love Kyan and would hate if by the end of the series he still feels that he’s inadequate. Saint: Oh man. Saint is well on his way to redeeming himself. I’m on the fence on whether he’s suffered through enough of Tatum’s revenge. To be fair, at the end of this book he fights for Tatum and does a damn good job of it. As long as he doesn’t do a 180 and completely turn asshole on Tatum again in the next book, I will agree that he’s redeemed himself fully. Monroe: This man is amazing and the type of man every girl deserves in her life. He is so incredibly supportive of Tatum. He doesn’t tear her down and forces her to face her own truths, but on her own terms. Monroe ensures that Tatum knows he’s not trying to direct her thoughts on her father one way or another but that she needs to be honest with herself. Monroe has her back no matter what and that in and of itself is a blessing. Th Unspeakables. Holy shit, holy shit, holy shit. The truths that are revealed about them are insane and I can’t for a minute believe anyone would feel sorry them. All in all, this book was hot, hot, hot and an amazing read. I cannot wait for the next book!!

I have such mixed feelings about this series. Like, the plot is decent enough, and there are twists and turns. But the characters are awful. I enjoy some of them, i LOVE Monroe. Blake had his downfalls but i feel like i can somewhat excuse him especially since he apologized and tried better. Kyan still kinda sucks but he’s written to be charming enough? Saint has zero redeeming qualities for me. Absolutely none. Tatum also felt like she was written all over the place. She has certain reactions t I have such mixed feelings about this series. She has certain reactions that felt out of place, like goading Monroe into watching her sex tape with Blake. That felt totally out of place. She’s also alwaysssssssss “panting” and “gasping” at any little touch. She seems like she has zero control over her body to always get what she wants. Also, giving into Saint and his dominant ways? Like..... he’s tortured you so much. I was all for her getting her revenge. But then of course, the twist at the end makes it seem set up for his redemption. I felt really bad about the death at the end though. I also think the stalker theory isn’t done yet. I think she has Stockholm syndrome lol. I also felt like from the end of the first book things were gonna change for them, but of course it didn’t. We wait forever, and she’s still punished for a bunch of things. It’s annoying, especially when they keep saying “our queen,” she’s so tempting, she’s everything. It’s like... words mean nothing, please do some actions! The Unspeakable plot line..... was awful. Like, i understand that maybe half of them didn’t do good things, but the torture they’re put through? Like they’re all teenagers for God’s sake. If the Night Keepers get their redemption, why don’t any of these kids? When arguably, the NK have done things that are just as bad. Toby doesn’t even get a chance to defend himself and i strongly believe that he’s not at fault still. What they do to Bait (i know what he did wasn’t right, but also he was so bullied before then he thought this would be his way out) is absolutely disgusting. I hoped Tatum would feel the slightest bit to help him, and maybe Monroe too, but of course not. These books are really long, and detailed, and typically I love that. But i feel like certain parts could’ve been shorter. The internal monologues, especially from the guys POV, is endless. And they speak like no one from their age lol.

But time is on her side, because Tatum is going to show Saint, Blake, and Kyan who really holds the power in their little world. Who really is the queen. These guys think they’re kings? They don’t understand the meaning of royalty. This was AMAZING. It’s everything and more than I was expecting in this series. Tatum’s goal is to get revenge on the Nightkeepers who have made her life a virtual living hell since she arrived. And Caroline and Susanne do not disappoint! Tatum gets sweet, sweet revenge for Every. Single. Thing. Everything they did to her, she repays in full. Tatum’s only quandary: She’s starting to get real feels for these monsters because what she glimpses beneath their exteriors isn’t so monstrous at all. I just loved watching the relationships develop between Tatum and the guys - including Monroe. But this book also allows a brief glimpse as to where the series will continue. And it’s going to be much, much bigger than just some sex tape or being dunked in fish stew on campus. I. Can’t. Wait.

Ok, safe space, and no judgement. Dark romance is only ever about 50% my thing, in I like caring about a heroine in danger, and feeling horrible for her when she’s exposed to a multitude of horrors. Kyan, Blake and Saint are entertaining monsters and the authors have managed to pack in so many wonderfully hateful quantities, and there in lies the problem: there’s no good in them, there’s nothing salvageable and I want them to be punished. I want them to lose everything, I want mangled corpses, disease wasted cadavers, psychopaths in oubliettes, starving and mad in the darkness. But dark romance isn’t horror, and the monsters never get what they deserve. Tatum could have been a final girl, she could have been a Katniss, but instead it’s looking like she’ll fool herself into thinking desire, control and possessiveness are what she deserves. It’s likely I’ll sneak a swift beginning/end read of the final book in the series to confirm it’s not going to be what I want. I mean, even if the teacher is mildly heroine and gets murdered by a mob of students allowing the others to escape, and Kyan’s past shows up to trap him as the important but controlled, and Tatum manages to kill Saint when one of his punishments goes too far, there’s still Blake. Maybe he can live if he gets half his face burned off and loses an arm?
